On The Street.....Grey Converse, Manhattan

i'm enjoying these two despite the converses (conversai?) which set my teeth on edge in the same way that flip-flops do for others (but not me).

our sart is very busy today -- any shots of the crowds at the marathon? there are two entrants from scotland staying with our upstairs neighbors who would have made excellent subjects for the blog.

I love Converse and this colour is awesome. I am looking for the super high-tops which are great.

Cute! Love that they're both wearing them - is one pair the laceless John Varvatos kind, though? Can't quite tell.

NYC remains my source for funkiest Converse in the world. I bought six pairs, in total, the last time I was there.

I did wonder what the security staff at the airport made of me on the way back to Australia: smuggler? black market? Converse-obsessed?

I like the laceless ones. I think they pull the look off and now I want some!

I have to admit to being on the fence about sneakers in general use. I think they work on the outfit on the left, but not on the right. And I know Lanvin is showing their tuxedos with trainers on the runway (yes, their own design and in leather, and none of their 6 outlets in the US carry them!), but I haven't drunk the kool-aid yet.

I think the theme here is age.

i love their neutral colors. very fresh.

I don't like the sneakers.

I like them but they are not comfortable shoes. I put them way above flip-flops!

I hope those two have Dr. Scholls insoles in theirs!

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (11:52 AM) :

I love Converse but agree with Roseag - they can be uncomfortable for all-day wear unless you have insulation!! They "get" to everyone - whenever I wear them to work, so many people comment.

I think I'm going to have to run out and buy a pair of Converses now. Such a nice, unexpected touch to some more conservative clothing colors

oooooooh the coat on the girl on the left is divine! does anyone know where it's from?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:04 PM) :

oops make that the coat on the right!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:07 PM) :

The Converse aren't the John Varvatos laceless Converse (he hasn't done them in grey...yet), they are actually a limited edition grayish flannel-felt that was put out at the beginning of the fall season 2006! They are low-top with laces.

Gaahh.. GOD they make me want to go to Starbucks..!! Is their coffee even from Starbucks btw?
