Comments on "Best Of Season.....Carine Roitfeld of Paris Vogue"
Carine always looks so fine! I love she has slowly quit the black gucci look. Those legs and that tan!
All I could say is that this woman is a diva totally chic to the max
Love the grey suit in that first pic!!! Who's the designer?
The confidence exudes, the gams are glam, the smile - all with the wardrobe I most covet. These all lead me to sigh with relief that there is still someone who'll move fashion forward with inspiration and chutzpah.
like all but the fur...grotesque.
She has a tomboy thing on her demure...But that is part oh her allure I suppose.
now the followers will load all the manifestations of comformism.
I'd like it better if she stopped slouching...
You're kidding with that last shot, right? What is that, a London Fog raincoat twisted into a skirt?
Without doubt, this woman is the reigning goddess of fashion. I remember reading a few seasons ago about how she insisted on wearing a towering pair of heels with a hobble skirt to a party. This resulted in her being tardy because it took her 1/2 an hour to cross the lawn. The eyebrows, the hair, the legs, the willingness to sacrifice mobility for fashion - it does not get any better.
I adore the four ensembles, can´t decide which is my favourite.
There´s something about the way she's wearing the "trench skirt" with that lovely baby blue shirt ,like Über casual-cool , that makes her look extra well dressed. But then again , she wears everything with a casual and fun attitude ,and she looks incredible.
The fur -back hoodie ...OH-MY-GOD!
She gets it!!! I get it!! I love it!! Uber chic to the highest level!!!
*genuflects*
That creativity with fashion is the reason I go out of my way to pay 12 bucks for French Vogue.
I cannot believe this woman is in her 50s. Unfreakingbelievable.
(Have a few problems with the fur hoodie, though...first, it's fur; second, the style is too "exoskeleton" for my taste...)
OHHH C'mon Devil 9.07 am !!!
She IS well dressed , you can't deny it !!
Relax !!!
What is it with French women--do you get a gene for awesome style at birth or something?
She has things on in these different photos that I would look at and say, "NO!", but I have to admit that she looks great in every single one! Even the wierd dress/coat/skirt thing that I don't understand, really doesn't look horrid.
I am so tired of boring dressing that I will take the fur, the wierd coat/skirt any day over another pair of jeans or cords or even the freaking leggings we are starting to see everywhere.
And her name is Carine. What a cool name. I hope a lot of her rubs off on me. Viva le France!
Love the first one, and the second is good except it really does look like she cut up a t-shirt and folded it under. That part could have been better.
The fur is terrible. I'm glad maria said it to -it's disgusting.
I don't even know what to say about the last one. She seems to pull it off, but on closer inspectionit *does* look like a London Fog raincoat twisted into a skirt :)
I love Carine Roitfeld and usually, she has the best looks. But the pics show a bit of a mixed bag of looks for me. Love the first look. Second look is cool, but the "corset" looks a bit too purposeful (not a very casual elegance). The fur thing in the third picture is the worst. It makes her look like a possum. The last one -- well, that skirt is just over designed. I like the way she matched the weird skirt with a casual shirt, though. Makes the whole outfit seem less like she is trying to look like an editor of Vogue and is in fact a master of a rather insouciant style.
Don't kill me. But I don't like her look.
all fabulous (aside from the fur)... but I'm blown away with the easy, but razor-sharp, chic of the grey suit with those amazing shoes. Wow. Wish I had that in my wardrobe as secret "dressed-in-a-pinch" weapon.
Sorry, the "trench skirt" made me embarassed like I was seeing more of her than I should. The odd wrap around the bodice looks like the protective netting around those Asian pears-the fur looks like Grizzley Adams-I'm not seeing why everyone's so keen about this.
My hero!!
She makes it look so easy. That´s her major virtue, in a world when everybody looks like they´re trying waaay to hard, she makes it look effortless, and plus she has that devilish grin...
The girl smiles!
She´s the goddess of everyday beauty.
she's great!
"London Fog raincoat twisted into a skirt?" is i believe a junya watanabe from spring '06. the construction of the skirt and his trenchcoats from this line are utterly brilliant. hats off to junya for his amazing talent and carine for having the confidence to wear it.
she is terribly chic, undeniably...
but what of that fur-backed outfit? it looks rather awkward--fur to sit on;
and in what season is it good to feel warm on your back and behind and cold on your arms and legs...?
i think it is a little to awkward/constructed to be cool.
though it's true she pulls off a lot with her cool attitude (like the leather corset-belt with a t-shirt or that convoluted beige skirt).
and these are great pics, sart. do you have one of the front of the hoodie-fur combo?
smokin'

I agree with you anon 9:26.
Hey Jason and anonymous at 9:26, The skirt is Comme des Garçons and looks wonderful in real life.

She, La Piaggi, and Isabella Blow really make Anna Wintour look dull and insecure...
She's got it. Period.
The "trench skirt," aka "London Fog," is the best of the bunch. Caught my eye on the page immeidately. Such a wry sense of humor in it.
Sart! Great series of shots, including a reprise of the white lace corset. With all four together, its clear to see her overall style. She is tres chic! And the suit in the top photo is so perfect. I join the chorus here asking for more info on the suit!
it doesn't get any better than carine. i would even venture to say she beats anna.
I love her, love her style and what she does with French Vogue, but that fur coat? no way...
The last skirt is fun but I do not think I recommend it - looks like a twisted combination of trench-coat plus baby diapers....
slouching and pigeon toes....i think they kill an outfit. there's a difference between slouching and looking relaxed. she would look like the amazing woman she is even more if she wasn't hunched in the second picture! but alas, she's a genius.
love the metallic shoes with the otherwise casual-chic outfit...
It seems to me she's all about fashion for fashion's sake. The comment about hobbling down a lawn seems to reinforce this. All the looks in those pics just seem, to me, kind of stressed out. Maybe I'm one who just finds subtlety far more compelling? By subtlely I don't mean plain, just that it takes a little work to 'get' the look. Sartorialist: perhaps that's why I love those photos most where you tell us to look at the details, even on the most outrageous of outfits.

In her 50s? Really?? I was thinking 'late 30s' ... I think she could teach us a few things about staying young, not just fashion.
ok, her taste is simply exquisite, but lord, do you think she could STAND UP? the clothing would look even better if she didn't look like she had something heavy strapped to her hands. . . the slouch cuts her appearance of confidence in half. . .
Mmm, that Prada fur parka is incredible.. I love her sexy kind of innocence charm she radiate.
Casual and natural beaty
The last shot - the man's shirt with the trench shirt is beyond chic. Taking something as simple as that shirt, and putting it with that skirt - brilliant!
Love the fact that the shirt is loose, too. Not fitted or overly obvious.
I can't believe that the general consensus is that she has "it". I disagree. The first shot was okay but there was nothing special about the others. I wouldn't give her a second glance if I saw her on the street. Just because it's different doesn't mean it's hot.
Real European chic. Lucky her, who gets to choose frocks from all the it designers in the world. Although I think she has high perks, she must be having a 24/7 stress in her job.
By the way, not that age should ever matter when it comes to style, but she is not 30's or 50's. She is actually forty something.
she is amazing!!! such creativity! totaly sexy....
amazing outfits!great way to pull them off.
I appreciate a woman who takes risks with fashion.
Her eyes, framed by the bangs and bushes for brows, are so drop-dead striking that it cancels out any clothing choices (good and bad). It is her relaxed demeanor, smile and je ne se qouis (not to mention that Veronica Lake hair) that catapault her far above her competitors. Anna is dry-- predictable, scowling, and not nearly as mesmerizing to watch. Carine grabs one and holds tight.... Vive la France!
Oh I worship at the temple of Carine. Many thanks For these photos.

ITA with the above comment
She makes my heart pitter patter. I love it when she isn't wearing black because you can more easily get a sense for her absolute superiority (which can be camouflaged dans noir).
boy is she hot
who cares?
she is the most perfect human alive.
@Ansh: I can't agree with you. I think it's almost entirely fashion for HER OWN sake, and if I looked a quarter this good when youth fails me, I'd be a very lucky girl. I love the way she carries off the slightly offbeat looks with perfect insouciance- makes you wonder why her magazine wasted a cover on Paris Hilton when all their in-house talent is so beautiful on top of being talented.
What makes her so fab is her smile--she's having fun with style, with life, etc. Actually, Sart, one of the things I love about your pics is that most of your subjects smile for you! We need more of that.
nice
GODDESS.
she always looks like perfection!
She is like a schoolgirl experimenting with fashion and having FUN!
Her hair, there's something about it that I dislike. A lot. But in the other part, yes, she is such an icon, it's just incredible to think that she's in her 50's...
She makes the other fashion editors look amateur. Well apart from the fashion editor herself.
Carine Roitfield always reminds me of Luca Turin's definition of the word "chic": "Chic is when you don't have to prove you have money. Chic is not aspirational. Chic is all about humor, which means chic is about intelligence. And there has to be oddness. Luxury is comfortable, expensive and conformist. But chic, which, of course, must be polite and not incommode others, can be as weird as it wants."
how come no-one mentionned the ALAIA white belt-corset ??
ALAIA ahhhhhhh always wonderfull
sory blue floppy hat but i can't let you say parishilton waist the vogue's cover. she was wearing an alaia skirt "quand même".
hihi
I just adore carine roitfeld....apparently she's about 50 years old...I dunno how true it is, but her style is hott!!
Great outfits indeed. But that white bustier by David Yurman was far better on Kate Moss.
Carine is amazingly cool.
The legs are fab - but the face?? Oh, that face!
Ok, I take that back - I just read she's IN HER 50s!!! In which case, SHE IS HOT!
i really like the first and last one.
but, even though she looks fabulous at 50, the fur outfit really does make her look like roadkill.
Everytime I have laid eyes on a picture of Carine, I can't help but smile. She's brilliant, collected and naturally chic.
What more could you ask of her?
Te amo Carine!
don't like her style whatsoever . . except for the first shot. what was she thinking when she wore the other outfits?
the looks are perfect, amazing, but her hair...
