Comments on "The Girl at Dries Van Noten"
Beautiful!
you really captured that aloof chic from the painting in your photo
Amazing resemblence! ooo...Such pretty pearls.
The resemblance is uncanny.
Personally, I think the use of the pearl necklace and the fur collar really highlighted and accentuated the length of the necks of the two women (I'm not trying to say that they look like giraffes.)
And sunglasses with hexagonal frames? Seems like the peace sign is missing somewhere, or else we're back to the hippie 60's.
Love this delicate, beautiful look! It manages to be both youthful and womanly.
Sart maybe we should call you "Art" this is one of the most gorgeous photographs I've ever seen, your eye is unbelieveable. You rock.
What a great comparison!
Love your blog!
I may be biased because this is my favorite John Currin painting but...I love this. There's a lot going on (the glasses, the necklace) but because of the muted tones it all works together.
The silk (or satin or....) banding on the sleeves and placket!

Great photo and great style! I love the pearls - they look so right with the shirt and glasses. ANd yes, so wearable!
the painting is of his wife - the artist rachel feinstein
Wow that a wild resemblance! Did you take the shot because you recalled the painting or did it just happen?
Oh, your photograph is so beautiful, so much better than the Currin. It's more like an old master, but with sunglasses. I think it's your best photo yet.
holy mackerel!
that image is amazing...and it's even more amazing that you made the connection between it and painting. when I looked at it, it seemed eerily familiar...and after the scroll-down, good grief!
well played, Mister.
those two are amazing
I love pearl necklace. It makes her look sophisticated with some kind of casual shirt. I also like the shadow on her face.
this is really awesome. and they both have a sense of secret luxury, the currin painting with the fur, and the girl with her awesome pearl necklace.
good job.
Yes, but yours is prettier.
I thought I was sick of the big sunglasses trend but they suit her haughty expression perfectly. Love the big pearls, too.
Your girl is prettier than the painting.
Came to your blog by hitting the random next blog icon. Know nothing of fashion, men's or women's. Do know you take some great pictures. Enjoyed my visit.
Very good!
Love the colour of the pearls and the detail on her shirt. Really lovely.
Tee Hee.
I want to know when we are going to see 'the satoralist' the book. It would be great to have it layed out with some art work like the currin or vemeer's intspersed that reflect a historical/artistic satroalist counterpart to some of your photos. Love it
lovely.
splendid.
really a beautiful photograph. it does have a wonderful diffused light like an old master painting.
can we have a hi-res version?
I am so sorry I don't know anything about Mr. Curran's work, but now, thanks to you, I will research it!
BTW I am loving the fact that your shot captures the exquisite soft details of her shirt and the sheen of the pearls is captivating.
great blog, what else can i say...
p.s. reading you on a daily basis.
OMG it does!!!!
it;s a really cute outfit. oversize sunglasses are a new classic.
But that's the problem with these oversize sunglasses: the wearers look the same, or the sunglasses minimize their individuality at the very least. I've seen packs of girls rendered identical by them. Not my favorite trend, surprise, surprise.
cool. okay, now do "the scream." can't wait to see who you'll use for the model, but i'll bet you could find any number of candidates backstage at the shows ;-)
an individual look ...no doubt...I would feel to photograph someone who looked like this....a very intersting quality about her ....
Love it.
Wow...
BTW...anybody hear about Yves St. Laurent? Is he ok? apparently he collapsed today.
Such chic & seemingly effortless minimalism!
Wow, very similar. Great shot!
Great shot and genius association. The same word came to my mind as previously posted when I saw these two...uncanny. I'm curious: what year was the Currin painting done? - JCH
Jeez, that's what I call beautiful!
I had never liked the way I have seen pearls worn. Now I have! :-D
i agree with cigalechanta that she is looking original.
