Emmanuelle Alt At the Louvre

Wow, sometimes people are more everything in real life - more beautiful, more stylish and more inspirational. She was born to work at Paris Vogue. Emmanuelle and Carine are like rock stars during the shows here and in Milan.

nice!
Do you think urban architecture plays a role in sartorial expressions?
I say it does! I can not imagine this look in a "one story tall, totally spread U.S. city", "strip mall" kind of thing.
Only a good backdrop makes believable this type of expression.

When would architects will take the role of cultural revolutionaries?!

so chic. not so effortless but very studied. Why Not? Fashion is a subject and a sublime artform. She dresses up to go to war!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:00 AM) :

so chic - she looks like an illustration

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (8:43 AM) :

Yes, she looks great. Again the simplicity of all black is wonderful. Is she wearing open-toed booties? I can't quite get into open-toe for autumn, but the subtlety of this pair is good.

Blogger Rafe Totengco said ... (8:53 AM) :

Again, amazing shot Scott. Love of course the peep toe high heel oxford platforms. Phew, that's a lot to say about a shoe. What's that bag she's carrying? The short trench, the leggings and those shoes, INCROYABLE!

Blogger Butch said ... (9:20 AM) :

The shoes--with the expanse of naked ankle--make it....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:25 AM) :

Her shoes are exquisite. In them the platform, the lace-up, open-toed slingback and pump merge. I'll bet she can wear them anywhere...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:37 AM) :

wow i'm in love and i'm a girl. she's gorgeous, my ideal friggin look. the details like the shoes are so-so but she knows how to pull it all together. you go girl.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:40 AM) :

breathtaking. she's a statue. immortal.

Blogger John and Beatrice said ... (10:04 AM) :

Excellent work, Scott. Your shots from Monday in Le Jardin des Tuileries, featured at Style.com, are simply incredible. The autumn leaves. The Parisiens. Awesome.

Blogger abovo99 said ... (10:23 AM) :

Wow...I can't find any flaw on her. She rocks! I want her awesome-look legs.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:07 AM) :

just in love with her style. i think carine and her have differents style, but both are simply stylish : just the way that all women have to be...
thanks for this pic!

Blogger la femme said ... (11:09 AM) :

stunning.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:33 PM) :

I could never, ever work this look but god, does she. All the black, the platforms, the *leggings*. So chic.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:37 PM) :

Perfect ankle boots - who makes them?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:55 PM) :

She's very chic-always in pants or jeans, perfect balance to Carine's feminine skirts. They are STARS!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:17 PM) :

Wow, she's incredible. It's not what she's wearing; it's her cheekbones, long legs and how her hair brings out the expressiveness of her eyes.

Blogger M.E. said ... (1:56 PM) :

Dude/Dudette...I LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:03 PM) :

Perfection! She owns this look. C'est magnifique!

Blogger hoi polloi said ... (2:07 PM) :

loving the granny shoes on the long slim legs and somehow the leggings here are not as obnoxiously trendy as usual

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:15 PM) :

Emmanuelle looks so beautiful , the shoes are wonderful ... she still looks great at 50

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:37 PM) :

She's gorgeous. I also LOVED your new pics on style.com, especially the one of Ines de la Fressange, who looks for all the world like a 23-year old Audrey Hepburn. She's actually 49! And Carine Roitfeld is over 50! Incroyable!

Blogger RoseAG said ... (3:57 PM) :

I love those shoes!

I hope this isn't the start of a leggings thing.

It's one thing to see a model with nice legs wandering around without her skirt on, and another to see super-sized Middle America doing it!

Blogger Linda said ... (4:02 PM) :

stunning. like a paper doll.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:13 PM) :

OMG, if I was only straight . . .

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:45 PM) :

...and to my mind her turned-in toes are totally acceptable, probably due to the authority of her overall stance...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:58 PM) :

i don't know whether to love her or thate her -- ditto carine. i am roughly the same age as they are and frankly you can just kill me now. this isn't aging with grace, this is aging without aging. there's got to be a secret room somewhere with portraits of these two women with wrinkles and sagging jawlines. and if you're not old enough to get that reference, you'll never understand how simultaneously painful and pleasureable this photo actually is.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:27 PM) :

Utterly perfect. How do they manage to look so perfect day in and day out? I much prefer their style to that of the American Vogue girls.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:50 PM) :

She is floating, floating....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:00 PM) :

newsflash roseag, they are already doing it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:25 PM) :

With respect to positively the same dame's comment. I am nudging their ages and I am sick and tired of negative limits and attitudes. I am about their size and build yet feel constrained by bourgeoise comments and "good taste" guidelines recommending beige and tasteful draping that remorselessly place ceilings not only on (all) people's appearance but thought patterns and aesthetic expression. I am sure that if you minutely scrutinised these photos (which I have not) you would find so called flaws . These women have used skill and probably steely determination to concentrate on creating a positive image. They are aesthetically skilled. This is what they do for a crust. We must applaud their efforts and take heart, we are all of us in the gutter but some are looking at the stars. (Oscar Wilde)

What I really love about your pictures is that people are so human:) I have nothing against models, but on a runway they look kind a...not real. But looking at pictures of yours it's like - fantastic. I wish I could see people who dress like that more often on the streets of my city.

PS that naked ankle part - sooo beautiful!

Blogger Shiny Blue Black said ... (3:08 AM) :

and if you're not old enough to get that reference,

Positively... I don't think understanding your reference is a question of age, more a question of literary proficiency.

She looks fabulous, and if she is 49 - good for her, but you know it wasn't attained with a lot of hard work, pain and skill.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:30 AM) :

such a great look , especially with the minimalist background as a frame ....
I can't believe she's 54 !!! wow , awesome

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:56 PM) :

shiny blue black -- yes, right. but to demonstrate how unliterary i am, i had in mind the old film, which i am fairly sure lives on only in the minds of the truly, er, mature, and in my garbled fashion i meant only that one must be old to understand the envy and respect i feel toward someone who looks that darn good at that darn age.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:22 PM) :

so chic! so paris!

loving all these pics!
been lurking for a longggg time!
thanks!

Blogger klara. said ... (7:03 PM) :
