On The Street..That Hair, West Village

It takes a special Sartorialist to make slicked-back hair look good but it takes and extra-special one to make it look good even when dressed casually. Kids, don't try this at home without special supervision.
Damn, I love my new camera.

Yeah--this guy's got it DOWN! (Note also the color-coordination of the cross-chest strap)....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:48 AM) :

kinda reminds me of pat riley's hair. he's one of my role models fashionwise.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:50 AM) :

what is he wearing underneath? i'm guessing white tennis shorts...

Blogger Johan B said ... (8:59 AM) :

The color-coordination is smashing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:21 AM) :

So, if hair-slicked-back works only for those few who can pull it off, what do you recommend for us regular-looking over-40 guys with (to be generous) receding hairlines?

I know we don't make it to the runways exactly, but some of us still care about how we look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:25 AM) :

so very nice. sigh ... do you think he'd move to colorado?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:30 AM) :

He looks a lot like a modern reincarnation of Gary Cooper.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:31 AM) :

I love your blog. And true. Your photos are really good with this camera !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:57 AM) :

Delicious. He must be European...

Blogger Sissy said ... (10:30 AM) :

Italian, no?

Blogger Butch said ... (11:03 AM) :

Main requirement to wear slicked-back hair effectively: a forehead that doesn't slope back too drastically. Otherwise the effect's about baldness....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:28 AM) :

Good choice of camera, the quality of this photo is amazing. Perfect lighting. Congrats!

Blogger Laurence John said ... (12:16 PM) :

i disagree. i don't think it takes much effort at all.
slicked-back or back-off-the face hair makes almost any man look at least 30% more handsome. guaranteed.

Blogger mike w said ... (1:08 PM) :

But that's the trick: square-jawed, good-looking types look good with almost anything, possibly even a bowl haircut.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:40 PM) :

hott!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:19 PM) :

the craziest part is that his outfit is coordinated with his EYES

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:14 PM) :

He's so hot, I'm melting . . .
Kinda reminds me of our own West Coast hottie Gavin Newsom - the Mayor of San Francisco . .

Blogger Lady Apple said ... (3:29 PM) :

i like it...his whole look looks fresh

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:21 PM) :

Nice photo. Great use of depth-of-field.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:26 PM) :

My father tries to attempt this look, let's just say he needs work. I'll be sure to show this to him.

For every time this is done right, there are 999,000 times this is done wrong:s...lol

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:10 PM) :

Are you really taking pics of random people on the street, or are you beginning to take pictures of your friends/acquaintances? I notice on of the posters noted that this guy works for RL. You just bought a suit from RL. Are you currying favors? Is this becoming a friends and family photo album?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:41 PM) :

I think he will look damn good with a shaved head...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:56 PM) :

is calhoun his first or last name? (and what's the other part of his name? i need to google it, NOW.... ;-)

Blogger ENID P. said ... (12:10 AM) :

Looks clean and unclumpy, with just the right amoun of shine... No stiff stuff...

To Anon 11:10pm
this was totally random - i don't know him personally but Ralph is so big and employees so many people that the chance of shooting someone from Ralph is always high.
Besides my wife use to work there years ago so if I wanted to do that it would have happened in the very beginning.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:18 AM) :

Great photo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:09 PM) :

very nice, indeed -- i feel as if i could reach through my computer screen and touch him. the new camera is a keeper.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:59 AM) :

wow. i mean wow! ugh, way to handsome

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:41 AM) :

He looks like a young gregory peck..yummy..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:28 AM) :

I enjoy his look. i keep my crazy loose and thick Asian hair at bay with gel. It looks sharp and groomed amongst other things.

I was reading through the posts and had to comment on someone else's comment:

Crash said...

Handsome yes, my femail friends have a running joke... Look's like Tarzan, talk's like Jane...

Let's hope he doesn't sound like Jane when he opens his mouth..."

How queer that someone with the handle " Crash" would make such a wretched comment on sexual identity when the movie deals with racism...
Honestly, I found this comment quite offensive. If you are insinuating that when he talks like "Jane" , or because he is gay then he is less attractive or less of a man, then I'm sorry you read this, and forgive you for your upbringing and poor judgement.
Who cares what his sexual orientation is?? What does it matter? So what if he has an inclination to talk with a lisp, can you get past that? Can you see that and judge his sartorial appeal?
He may not be straight, but realize fags are here, read the blog, and are sensitive about those comments. I only wish i wasn't an anonymous blogger so you dont think i'm a coward of any sorts.
ps. spellcheck female.

for anon 11:28 . . .
Christophe,
WELL SAID . . . I had the same reaction when I read that post yesterday . . . . and was just signing back in to comment about it . . .
Thanks for beating me to the punch . . .

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:15 AM) :

You know, I was so dumb that I didn't understand the implications of the Tarzan, Jane comment until I read Christophe's rebuttal. Right on, Christophe!

I'd like to add that whatever his sexual preference might be, this man looks mighty fine and masculine to me. I think that gay men can be incredibly masculine, too. Masculinity comes in many flavors--please let's not perpetuate the idea that Real Men have to look and act like Rambo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:47 PM) :

he's gorgeous and I agree - one of few that can really wear that back-slick hairstyle. hot ;)
