Fabulous dress, hair, shoes - fantastic camera!!!! Are black tights officially ok now that it's sept?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:03 PM) :

LOVE THIS! She looks like she walked right off the runway. Great shot too- very Abbey Roadesque

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:11 PM) :

i love her! so charming, and this is a great example of how to ease into autumn.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:21 PM) :

Wow...this look totally opened up ankle boots for me! Fantastic shot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:58 PM) :

this is amazing, and she makes the old Louis vuitton look so FRESH, this is amazing, I usually like all-black-looks but this is inspiring.

She's beautiful!

Blogger Adrian said ... (7:01 PM) :

i am tearing at how gorgeous this look and this girl is...i think my face is molding into the computer screen from staring at her for so long...

Blogger MARIA H said ... (7:02 PM) :

Love the shoes!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:11 PM) :

lovely. beautiful shoes!

Blogger Frida said ... (7:29 PM) :

Gorgeous!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:42 PM) :

I keep seeing shoes like her's in magazines and hating them, but they look so cute on her.

Blogger 'signorina' said ... (7:57 PM) :

She looks fantastic! A younger Carrie Bradshaw look. I normally hate brown shoes + black opaques, but with her cute dress, and the LV bag picking up the brown, and her hair colour...she looks fabulous!

And again, great coy smile.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:59 PM) :

i have NEVER said this about a person/outfit/photo you've taken but....

this looks just too much like something straight out of a fashion magazine. in fact i just finished flipping through the latest anthropologie fall 06 mini-catalog, and she looks like she could have come straight outta there. which i suppose some people would like, and it is a cute look, but the thing i love about your photos is how non-magazine/real-people they are. fashion made real and personal, and somehow this just isn't doing it for me.

Blogger BOOM 456 said ... (8:02 PM) :

Great look. I love the picture though, good lighting!! I shoot with a 20D and have the 50 1.8, but this is making me want a 1.4!

Have you seen the new, $1500 1.2 verson?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:47 PM) :

The heels are outlandish , love the height on them ..... not many women could pull that off ....... though I'm so short , I think I could fit between the heel and sole

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:48 PM) :

ilov eit .. i love the shoes most of all---- adn hte black tights. the green dress is pretty wicked as well. i can;t wait ot get out my fall clothes...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:55 PM) :

The dress is from H&M...she totally rocks it with the LV and ankle-boot's. I wear mine with black footless tights and ballet flats.

Blogger Lady Apple said ... (9:59 PM) :

she's cute...don't know about the shoes with the tights though...but i love the bag!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:01 PM) :

The dress is from H&M!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:27 PM) :

ooh those shoes...I looove them. they somehow bring the whole look together.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:39 PM) :

I adore her shoes! Does anyone know where I can get some at a bargain! This is my idea of a perfect outfit! LOVE IT

Blogger Shopaholic D said ... (10:41 PM) :

this looks like something i would see in a magazine! great outfit and great shot!

Blogger Murph said ... (10:57 PM) :

She's cute. The dress is cute. The tights are hot--about time they came around again. I love the bag and the shoes. All of it mixed together is a mess and doesn't work at all.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:46 PM) :

if i'm not mistaken this is an H&M dress isn't it? i feel like i've seen it there, but not 100% sure.

Blogger bethyb said ... (12:16 AM) :

This is my ideal fall look. such a beautiful photo.

Blogger Decorno said ... (12:17 AM) :

I love it all but the bag. It's a love-hate thing with LV. In some ways it's still a great leather-goods brand, but then you see it everywhere (and knocked off everywhere else) that it's hard to not notice it.

Is it just me?

Everything else is really great. She looks delightful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:04 AM) :

wow. the hair, the dress, the tights, the bag, those shoes. yup, those shoes. gorgeous. absolutely gorgeous.

Blogger nb said ... (1:33 AM) :

oh this is pure fall and thnx to the photo i know just what to wear today (rainy, beautiful)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:16 AM) :

every day it amazes me how these people who post comments here always LOVE everything! How can you LOVE a shoe? How can yo love all kinds of material objects and then tell your husbond or child that you love them, too? Shouldn't you invent a new word because all this loving is confusing

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:25 AM) :

the dress is from h&m believe it or not! :)

Blogger Britta said ... (3:38 AM) :

That dress is actually from good old H&M (I've got it myself). Cheap, beautiful and chic - just the way it's supposed to be!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:57 AM) :

The dress is from H&M. At least, I've seen it here in Sweden!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:28 AM) :

i agree with becca. she looks straight off the runway and onto the street. such a hard one to pull off, but she does it with much success!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:59 AM) :

i love the way she wears those ankle boots

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:01 AM) :

drew barrymore anyone?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:27 AM) :

What makes the picture fabulous is the fact that this delightful lady is walking across a zebra crossing..very funky!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:36 AM) :

Very nice outfit! The dress is from Hennes&Mauritz, H&M.

Blogger Laurence John said ... (5:53 AM) :

she's enchanting.
except for the logo bag.

Blogger Sissy said ... (6:21 AM) :

Love the black tights - brownish shoes colour combination! The dress is great as well!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:52 AM) :

She looks fab!!!!

Blogger Nerine said ... (7:25 AM) :

great hair.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:31 AM) :

This is one of your best yet!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:37 AM) :

I love this picture, it seems to be a photomontage.

Blogger Rafe Totengco said ... (8:26 AM) :

what an incredible shot! looks like an editorial. The dress, the tights, the attitude, her Vuitton Speedy bag which is probably a hand me down from her Mom. Love, love, love the shoes. It's all about the bootie and this one is sexy and high at the same time. I guess Fall has officially arrived.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (8:28 AM) :

The shoes are divine!

Blogger John and Beatrice said ... (8:59 AM) :

Only in the rarest of cases can the branding bling of a Louis Vuitton bag be subdued and showcased effectively. In most cases the bag is way too gauche. Pairing it with an H&M disposal dress is a stroke of intentional (?) genius. Overall this look is yummy, if you don't mind distracted male motorists careening out of control into fire hydrants.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:14 AM) :

overall I think the thing that makes this picture is the camera itself... the balance in this picture is very satisfying

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:02 AM) :

She is adorable.I don´t really like logo bags , but she made wonders with it in this ensemble: the black tights with those wonderful shoes and the childish attitude ....divina.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:15 AM) :

To Dani 3.16 am:

If you don´t understand the LOVE for a shoe, for a scarf, for an old t-shirt, for any favourite piece of clothing ...maybe this is not your blog , my friend.
It´s not the love for material things , it´'s the love for BEAUTY.
Anyway , relax Dani, LOVE IS IN THE AIR !!!

Greetings ,

Pata.

P.S : I swear i love my boyfriend almost as much as my new green ruffled coat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:47 AM) :

I am so envious right now!

she looks great!

Blogger Kelli said ... (10:53 AM) :

Beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:00 AM) :

Reminds me a great deal of Marisa Berenson in the early 70s. Very chic, but also very lived-in.

Blogger Nia said ... (11:51 AM) :

Good God, I love this camera. Thank you!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:03 PM) :

Look like Chloe shoes to me...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:07 PM) :

I wish I could dress like this- sadly I don't think it fits into my small town, though. I never understood ankle boots until this look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:18 PM) :

are those really ankle boots? I think they're just super-high heeled oxfords. But I love the ankle boot look with black stockings as a general principle--saw my friend from Sydney doing it last winter, and she got her boots from Scanlan and Theodore. The heels were wooden and cone-shaped--before everyone started copying the wooden heel later that Spring. It was a fashion revelation for me.

Back to this girl. First, she's unusually beautiful--not just pretty or cute, but she can make serious money off of her looks. Second, she looks like she does have lots of money, and has the benefit of connections to dress and look the way she does. Third, I adore the smock dress look--yes, very YSL from the 70s as someone else said. Fourth, I am ASTOUNDED the dress is from H&M, esp. given what I observed in point #2. Fifth, the black tights with brown shoes do actually work here, unexpectedly. I'm learning so much about where and how to shop and dress from your blog, Sartorialist, and all the excellent fashion junkies who read and comment too.

This is a great photo, a great look, and a great looking woman who knows how to dress.

Her shoes are called "Signore" - They are made by Stuart Weitzman:

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:22 PM) :

agree with lainy, the bag is no good, i can't handle seeing another logo bag kill an outfit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:59 AM) :

just gorgeous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:03 AM) :

Mmm I hate to strike a discordant note but I'm not enthusiastic about the waif-like, Mia Farrow look. The shoes are making her spine bend inwards, like a teenager hiding her bosom. Black tights and brown shoes are a no-no in my book. And the bag is too baggy. But she has a nice smile.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:16 AM) :

How is 16th streeg in Greenwich Village?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:27 PM) :

I have this dress, it's from H&M.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:54 PM) :

The key of looking this great with a status bag is not being too precious about it. It's like: Yes I have a Louis Vuitton bag, so what?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:25 PM) :

Okay, ladies and gents- I have to say this after reading all of these comments. WHY DOES EVERYONE FOLLOW TRENDS SO LITERALLY?? Yes, currently we are being hammered over the head with short babydoll dresses, lovely shoes and wonderful black tights to excess... But must we let it suck all of our personality out of an outfit? Sometimes choosing one trend is better than every single trend trotting off the runway- and making that trend OUR OWN. The only original aspect of this outfit I really admire is her use of color. For this- BRAVA. For all else- YAWN. Sart- Please feature more people with original style (e.g. the Rocker Chick from a day or two back, or some of the lovely older gents in your archives).

Blogger Aurora said ... (12:03 PM) :

the dress is from H&M, i have it myself... beautiful!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:03 PM) :

First of all, The Sartorialist took a picture of a girl wearing a dress I have and I wear it in a similar way although i dont wear heels becasue i become to tall. I just wear it with black leather ballerinas, and bare legs.

I agree with a lot of the other comments this looks like an editorial shot, I love seeing you grow baby Sart!
