At Trovata

So is this look about her actual accessories or is it more about the bold shot of color they provide her look?

I think if you changed some of the design details on the bag or necklace it wouldn't really matter that much but if you changed or toned down the bold color they provide I think the overall look would be less dramatic.

I love it...it's loose and flowy and the bag and bright blue necklace draws the eye.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (9:47 AM) :

Agree the colours make it. The neutral colour of her coat is also a great choice. She looks as vibrant as the outfit!

The bright yellow of the taxi works too!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:01 AM) :

Beautiful! fresh+classic. Works well for work-to-gallery-to-anything.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:08 AM) :

Very well done, but I think you're right. If you took away the bold shots of color, she'd still be very well put-together, but standard issue. I think her hair does a lot for her look as well.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:09 AM) :

85% color, 15% shapes

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:14 AM) :

I think the taxi really pulls the whole thing together. You've got to love taxi cab yellow!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:17 AM) :

love this, sart! her hair, the bag, the blue, the yellow. perfection. nyc pedestrian at it's best!

Blogger Tiffany said ... (11:03 AM) :

I love the cobalt!

It's funny, the sartorialist is the only blog I know of, where one wants to read the comments as well.
On that note, I'll pitch in my own five cents:
What really makes this the "chunky shapes/ kid's drawing" Stella B mentions is the perfect alignment of the coat/skirt. It almost looks as if they are one item.

living for her, shes so upbeat!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:17 PM) :

Mary Tyler Moore, is that you?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:25 PM) :

Love it. She looks so effortlessly chic, and I don't think it gets any better than that. And I love that she's literally stopping traffic.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:36 PM) :

Ditto the comment about shooting her in front of the stopped traffic. I love the yellow cab, red bag, blue necklace... her smile and posture are assured and approachable. p.s. the new camera is wonderful!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:00 PM) :

did you actually take the photo in the middle of the street???!! haha.

i think it's all about the color. primary color. great. just great. :p

Blogger Claudio Moro said ... (2:32 PM) :

Great style ... the colours are essential for this outfit. It makes the difference. Imagine she would wear blue shoes ... a dream.

methinks we're gonna be seeing a lot of big red handbags in the coming months. i intend to enjoy this one while it's still refreshing and novel because i have a feeling i'll be reaching my level of tolerance any day now. i stupidly succumbed to the whims of fashion and purchased one of those babies, and my level of tolerance for IT was hit the minute i attempted to lift it and carry it more than a couple of blocks, but my chiropractor loved it.

I just clicked over from style.com- your work looks SPECTACULAR there.
What a fantastic use of the web- to be able to jump right from pro-runway shots to your very personal takes.

Blogger Stratos Bacalis said ... (5:36 PM) :

I agree with The Sartorialist...the colors are everything here...tone it down and you get ... a soccer mum?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:32 PM) :

great shot. she is literally stopping traffic!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:55 PM) :

oh my gosh is that a birkin bag??

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:07 PM) :

CUTE! Although she looks kind of shapeless...Maybe she should have added a belt to make it less shapeless (a belt could continue the chunky look, not interrupt it)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:07 PM) :

With a Birkin, you can't go wrong. I also like the necklace.

Blogger Julia said ... (7:50 PM) :

Love it so much.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:50 PM) :

I love this look - she is small but the proportions are well judged so that the volume doesn't swamp her (the narrow shoulders of the coat are perfect). She looks fantastic!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:27 PM) :

if i'm not mistaken, that looks a lot like one of the owners of kirna zabete ...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:12 PM) :

Older women, please!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:02 PM) :

Kirna Zabete is owned by Sarah Easley (college nickname: Kirna) and Beth Buccini (Zabete). This is Kirna. Gorgeous isn't she?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:21 AM) :

I'm quite sure this is not a Birkin bag. This one is from LV. Still a classic but not the Hermes Birkin bag.

Blogger Xenu said ... (8:15 AM) :

I think there is a balance: the coat and the dress have the same lenght, and the cold colors of the accessories match the warmth of the coat...movie like pic

Blogger Vien Thee said ... (12:23 PM) :

Holy jesus did u actually stop traffic to get that shot? Love it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:35 PM) :

she looks great. at least pregnant women can wear this look...not saying she is.....but she could be. and her baby could play with the necklace. this sounds sarcastic, but i am not trying to be.

sorry, baby on the brain

Sarah and her signature chunky chain necklace.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:15 PM) :

I really love the bag (and the red bag in an earlier post). I am a sucker for for red and my favorite old red leather bag recently got slashed beyond repair by a wannabe thief... anybody have any thoughts on where to find a lovely bag like this that is neither LV nor Hermes? I'm a poor grad student!

Blogger le fashion said ... (4:59 PM) :

great red bag, and whole look!

Blogger The Closet Therapist said ... (4:05 PM) :

Dramatically simple! Let's not forget the fabulous haircut too. Overall, an easy look to model.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:22 PM) :

great smile!

Blogger Carelia said ... (8:56 PM) :

I really love the entire assembly, the colorful accessories makes the outfit interesting and unexpected.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:21 AM) :

I think the yellow cab completes the photo, when I first watched the pic real quick I actually thought it was another one of her accessories.
