Comments on "On The Street........Milan In Manhattan, New York"
What makes it Manhattan? I'm kinda stumped but the fact that he has his hand in the jacket pocket is rather strange ... usually in Europe they remain stitched up - the lower pockets are for detail - not functionality!
I would have said the full break on the old-school khakis, but I'm guessing you're focussing on that square-folded "hankie"
Btw, love the site - great work, especially the interviews.
Is it...the broad smile??
The way the pocket square is folded...
pocket square
blue on blue
break in the pants
Yes - Scallywag got it!
his "spants" are too long
He looks smashing! The break makes it Manhattan--Italians prefer no break.
The pants and the sleeves are too long. Still a great look and what wonderful shoes.
I like those pants. I wish I could get khakis that fit that well. What brand are these?
SART..... like the idea of you asking what the differences are between NY,Milan , Paris , etc....... maybe you can make that a part of some of your blog .... interesting to know what you observed as differences between the city/country styles
The Orens coffee cup is the unofficial - must have accessesory on Madison Ave. It's a great cup o' joe. Featured in many a Sartorialist photograph.
The white, sq folded pocket sq has been a NY thing for a couple of years...a Thom Browne influence perhaps?
well i've been paying attention... pocket square! and here it is so very square.
someone should do weekend retreats and teach pocket square, scarf, tie, and neckerchief {i am an ascot fan} folding.
Either the fact that the guy is smiling (and showing his teeth), or else the khakis. I haven't seen a pair of khakis once, since I've been in Montreal (and I've been here a year). But Montreal's not Milan, of course. But I still think it's the khakis.
The Shoes and the American Khaki, not really Valentini is it ?
Not really fitted and to long , etc.
What business sector does he work in? I'd guess creative, but the hair style doesn't quite cut it.
I could marry him in a second!
i actually lives in milano and it looks like the business man here... anyway, I miss the barcelona's look, more casual.
Are those linen pants? I'm not sure I'm digging the combination of fabrics. Something about the trousers being too drapey...
his name is eric. girls go see him at bergdorf men's...
The pants aren't just too long for Milan, they're too long for Manhattan.
I've got my money either on the checked shirt (although go to Rome for a much smaller check) or the knit tie make him look Italian. They're also quite fond of the contrasting jacket/pant combo.
My lovely & dapper grandfather used to wear knit silk ties like this--I've heard them disparaged since, but I've always thought they were wonderful. Then again, he used to wear a lot of things that take a certain panache--seersucker suits, for instance.
I think it's the pant length....
