Comments on "On The Street.....Bleeker Street, New York"
"She Looks Like a Doilie"
The dress is quite cute, with the neck ruffle-thingy balancing the length of the pleats. While we're at it, someone give her a pie, quick!
To be honest, I think this is an example of someone who can wear anything and look great. She is truly beautiful and would look good wearing a barrell.
Lovely! ...nice balance between girly and sexy... a modern victorian doll
I also love how she does not sport a tan with this summer dress. Not only does it emphasize "classic victorian", it simply is fresh to see someone work with their natural skin tone (what beautiful skin too!).
She looks interesting and somewhat mysterious. A fashionable apparition. Well done.
that dress is amazing.
her legs are so long that they look fake. it's like the magician sawing a woman in half trick standing up
So apparently every woman in New York is 7 feet tall. I think if I stood next to her I'd barely reach up to her waist.
That being said, that dress is adorable! And I'm glad I'm not the only one who sometimes finds it necessary to carry two bags at once.
What an amazing Prairie dress - she has the waist for such gathers and frills! Lovely!
I love it!
She looks great!
That is extraordinary. To be honest I have absolutely no idea whether I like it or not. It's still extraordinary though. I'd have photographed her too!
I agree that she'd look great in anything, though I do like the dress. And, speaking as a naturally skinny gal who recognizes another, a pie probably wouldn't do anything to her except taste good. And maybe stain that dress.
I live in NYC and I never see such gorgeous people. Where do you FIND them????
she is beautiful and I love that she is comfortable with fair skin. however, the frills do not seem to suit her. it feels as though the dress is wearing her vs. her wearing the dress...
cool!
I know that this woman is young, but I think the dress is too young for her. I think if a girl is past 20, this dress should not be rocked.
That said, this woman is insanely gorgeous and those legs...wow-ie!!
Yeah, she looks great, but I'm with the 7:07 commentator, someone feed the girl!
She does look great, but I want to know when we'll see the female counterpart of the bald fat man?
cute legs but i fear they look like they may snap!
She fancies herself a Chloe girl, which she is. Good for her.
the dress is amazing, great example of girly done well. Unfortunately, i dont think the length is very flattering on her at all. Perhaps she is too tall? It looks like it should be knee length...
i love it.

...and some sun tan wouldn't hurt...
i love all your gentlemen pics but surely there exists a world beyond fledgling models in ny? i live in tokyo where you definitely have the full spectrum of style and would enjoy seeing, as another reader aptly describes 'ms bald fat guy' with panache.
The way city-summer should always look while sun's up!
I agree that a female variation of the "bald fat man" would be refreshing. This girl is great but anything would look good on her.
I love the way she is wearing white and her skin is so pale!
Not even a trace of fake tan!
Is she carrying 2 bags? Or just been shopping? I've often seen women with 2 handbags? Is it for switch-a-roo during the day? Or just not enough room to carry it all?
Is this the same girl from the May 22nd post??

hmmm what a girl!!!
I always snark about how the women you choose are too skinny but this woman fits her body completely. What a great picture.
The dress looks like one from Australian designers Camilla + Marc from a few seasons ago.
she's clearly naturally skinny, so i'm not going to say anything about feeding her pie, but, what is going ON with her right ankle? it looks like she's about to snap her leg off.
dress = cute, a bit to small on her yes but that's what we tall girls have to suffer with; but i so wish the massive ruffled collar wasn't so little girlish. or that there was a bit more of something around her face (fabulous earrings?) to offset the child-like quality of it.
Looks great.
I suspect that many (not all) women who don't fit their or others' idea of how their bodies 'should' look tend not to dress as stylishly and call attention to themselves with their clothes, so they're less likely to be the kind of stylishly dressed woman Sartorialist captures. Whereas we guys don't care, if we're fat and bald and ugly, we'll still try to show our stuff. C'mon larger women, you all are hot too -- show us what you got!
Love your blog but don't like this post -- dress is cute and all and agree with another poster that the lipstick makes the shot -- but she is way too skinny (whether naturally or self-induced) and to me doesn't project a healthy trim ... just skinny. I have lived in NYC and have seen plenty of size 8-12 women look great, can we some of those photos please?
gorgeous dress but not on her, she's far too pale
i love how this fits her...but the white doesnt look good with her extremely pale skin
I love the dress and the fact that the fit is slightly off - too small in the bodice and too short in the hem. Her lip stick and pale skin really sets off the look. I would just lose the bulky bags - have someone else carry them for her - on the other side of the street.
This is lovely, and even the way her legs look twisted incorrectly
makes it look like a mannerist painting! Very cool,.ing
Pretty woman. I like her pale skin against the white dress.
But,
me no likey the frilly shawl collar thing around her neck.
IMO the dress would look infinitely better if it were either spaghetti straps or strapless.
