Compare & Contrast

Lower East Side

Upper East Side

Comments on "Compare & Contrast"

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:59 PM) :

typical.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:06 PM) :

lower east side couple look more like LA fashion. LES fashion people have much more of an edge and less scoop shop looking....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:08 PM) :

this is great. you just as easily could have gone with 20's/30's.

Blogger scratchzilch said ... (12:22 AM) :

hmmm. i see the contrast.

i dont like too-short shorts with boots. if its warm enought to wear the shorts its warm enough to take off the boots.

like the orange and blue.

Blogger Anastasia said ... (12:57 AM) :

What a difference but yes, it is very 'typical' or is it that obvious over there?
Im leaning towards the Uppers...more my kind of style

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:58 AM) :

Did not realize it was that cold in the UES!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:34 AM) :

so happy i don't live on the UES.

Blogger Claudio Moro said ... (2:55 AM) :

Both looks are boring and simple.

A mix between the styles would be interesting. For example: The jacket of the man (upper) with the guy's jeans (lower).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:03 AM) :

I love it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:04 AM) :

i love style in all forms. Love the white belts of the first couple, the coat over trench coat, and the orange pants (even though I don't prefer that cut). So are brown shoes worn with orange pants or is it not enough contrast?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:18 AM) :

i only prefer italian preppy so which couple do you think i picked?

Blogger Charlotte said ... (4:26 AM) :

Christy, how smug does that first couple look?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:09 AM) :

why is this typical?

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (6:35 AM) :

I didn't mean for this to be a winner/loser thing

I thought both were great examples of the extreme styles that represent their neighborhoods - I think both are done very well

11:08pm - your right I could have said 20s/30s

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:37 AM) :

I like what you've attempted to do here.

Funny thing is, LES in twenty more years could very well be the UES couple. Or twenty years ago, LES couple may well have been the UES couple when they were younger.

Changing your style as you grow older is an affirmation of being alive. That's not to say you wouldn't maybe see the UES couple looking like LES on a low key saturday afternoon. Cept the boots, UES gal would were Choo sandles.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:48 AM) :

All these couples you've photographed definitely fit right into what they're wearing, and each other. Those two things happening at the same time is nothing short of a miracle. I really dug the before last post with the ultra-casual early thirties couple. Natural, unpretentious style that says "We look good together, clothes on or off." Good for them!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:49 AM) :

2 sides of the same coin. I can see both couples at the same party, totally getting along with one another. Style appreciates style, I think. Most of the time.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:00 PM) :

in general, both couples look typical, but they're ok. yeah, LES couple--especially the blonde kimberly stewart clone--looks like they're from L.A.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:17 PM) :

les wins.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:18 AM) :

I love these two shots...think they all look fantastic.

Blogger wanderlust junkie said ... (3:42 AM) :

love LES fashon. damn i miss NY

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:21 PM) :

That's not LES fashion. More like Chelsea

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:08 AM) :

Love the contrast and like someone else said, would love to see a mix of the two styles.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:43 PM) :

I bet UES are from Italy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:04 PM) :

She kind of looks like Gwen Stefani.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:48 PM) :

really made for each other! perfect couples hehehe...

I loved the photos!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:12 PM) :

They look like members of the Kennedy family. Second thoughts, the man looks too European in those trousers to be a Kennedy!
