Narciso Rodriguez - Mens Fall 2006

So Narciso decides to add a little menswear to his fashion show this season.
This is the best he could come up with?
Why bother?
It is such a throw away, especially when you consider how beautifully intricate his womenswear can be, it is almost insulting. To be fair Narciso is know for a minimalists hand but come on, I can only hope it feels incredible in the showroom because it is not much to look at on the runway.
Just to beat a dead horse, except for the background, could you really tell the difference between these designers collections? And designers lament that real men don't buy their clothes, well...duh? Designers please put in just half the time on mens that you do on women's and lets try again next season.

I find it arrogant and uninformed to compare Neil Barrett with your sentiments toward Narciso. Neil Barrett has been a progenitor, in a different but very essential way, as Xavier Delcour to Dior Homme, to almost all of DESIGNER menswear today. Barrett began Prada men's collection that defined much of the 90s and paved the way for the company today. Even your sacrosanct Thom Browne owes him a bit of credit. I think that you could do a bit more research before making cad references.

Exactly!

Barrett and Véronique Branquinho are very good but usually ,if you look at their women's compared to the mens, the women's is so much stronger. They don't have to go over the top like McQueen but give me more than another black and white collection and saying that it is directional or new. Actually i should probably take off the Branquinho shot because i generally like what she does. I would love to interview her.

I will make this point one more time, it is not that i would love to wear Thom Browne but i really respect that he had the balls to create a high end, well-made, designer collection, that is produced in NY at a time when NY menswear was just about dead.
