Some Sartorialist's Look At The Shoulder First, I Look At The Sleeves

I love how slim the sleeves are on Lapo Elkann's jacket in the photo. It is well known that he inherited his grandfather's ,Gianni Agnelli, old clothes. Lapo had found himself in a sticky situation lately but at least he continues the family legacy of sartorial excellence.

That outfit was going so RIGHT...until you look at those *gasp* JEANS!!

I swear they're hiked up past the navel. The wash doesn't mesh well with the rest of the outfit.

I don't think the are jeans, i think they are colored khaki's, look at the pockets.

whether it's a pair of jeans or not, it looks like, so it's not a good outfit anyway...
I can't understand your persistence on lapo... come on, he designed those sweaters...

what can i say, i think he has a quirky style,
a friend of mine sometomes says "so bad its good"
I think his combo take a minute to adjust to the eye but i like that.

I agree with the sartorialist..
he has a quirky style that, at
times, needs a second look to
appericate.

ok... but being italian as I am, I see him on newspapers everyday, and in my town (turin, that's his town, too) each old lady is worried about him (you know his drug+ts affair..) but is ready to kick everybody else's ass if caught in the same situation... so I just can't stand him

and then, country flag on wrist cuffs is so "italians do it better" I just can't think of it as elegant...

and those sweaters...

I think all of his difficulties makes him a much more human and interesting character,

Wouldn't you hate him more if everything was just perfect for him.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:14 AM) :

hey wait a second, I don't hate him, nor I judge him for his difficulties, it's just his style and his mediatic omnipresence that I don't appreciate...

and of course I hate those sweaters

I read with interest the various comments on Lapo Elkann. I was privileged to meet him regularely a few years back and I can attest that on top of his faultless style he possesses the most important elegance of all, that of the heart. It was only after a few dinners that I learned his relationship to Gianni Agnelli from a common friend. His modesty and kindness are what I remember about him. I wish him the best possible recovery

Narrow sleeves have an unfortunate tendency to wrinkle like hell. Only for people who can change clothes at noon and again at six.

with that kinda cash, who needs to look good? as long as his dealer's happy...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:07 PM) :

who makes his shirts?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:49 PM) :

Did anyone see the Feb 06 issue of Vanity Fair, The story about Lapo Elkann ( how tragic!), does anyone know where to find a shirt similar to the one he's wearing on pg.136 ?( I like that collar style).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:21 PM) :

is that fabio capello

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:45 PM) :

You're absolutely right here..The length of the sleeves is the key element..1 in 10000 gents gets it right...Not that I counted but never saw any in 10 years in Sydney but I'm guessing...Next come the shoes...for that just forget it, unless you're into R.M Williams boots (which I am fortunately)..

Not shoulders, not sleeves, not shoes (that's second). First is the waistline. It's like the real estate - location, location, location. This one is good, if not perfect.

That is Fabio Capello, England manager and quite the fashionista himself.
