Young Girls Of Williamsburg Run With The Marathoners

I took this photo while shooting the New York Marathon this year. I've run the NYC Marathon twice so I actually saw the potential of this shot about 8 years ago.

Every year the Marathon makes its way through Williamsburg, a mostly Hasidic neighborhood in Brooklyn. A huge group of young Hasidic girls run back and forth between the runners, giggling and screaming the entire time.

The Marathon is such a great event, it brings together so many different types of people to support the runners. In my opinion it is the best sporting event in the city.

yes, nice photo. Is the person running in the background talking on his cell phone?

Yes
I've seen runners do this to keep in touch with the people that have come to see and support them during their run.

I love this picture - it looks like a still from an old movie. It reminds me of when I was a little kid and I used to run and run and I felt so free.

wow- I love this picture! I especially love how at first glance or if you only look at the bottom half, this could easily be an old picture, but when you look at the background and see the marathoners and modern details, it becomes a very interesting combination.

I love this because it looks like two different eras in one shot. The girls could be from really any point in time. but what brings it back to current day and kind of throws it off is the modern-day running gear of the woman on the left.
Thanks for doing what you do. Your pictures inspire me to be more creative.
You're a cool guy,
Victoria
