Comments on "My New Favorite....Book"
The Library of Congress has a great exhibit of rare color photos from the 1930s and '40s going right now, called Bound for Glory. The photos were taken by photographers in the employ of the Farm Security Administration and its successor, the Office of War Information, of life in rural and small town America. Really great photos, and a unique color look at a world that most folks today know only from black-and-white images.
Jeff,
thanks for the heads up. I will have to look for a link.
I saw another book recently that was in color shot around the same time. Your right that seeing it in color is a real shick. It makes it less romantic and more heartbreaking.
Interesting photos. It's funny how black and white always adds something extra by taking something away.
Breathtaking photos - real sense of history.
