Modern preppy outfit on a retro bike. Cool. Whoever came up with the idea of helmets on bike riders, was an enemy of fashion. She looks like summer.

I feel that that in itself takes away a bit of the classiness she could otherwise have had.

Other than that, she's gorgeous.

Lovely colours, but it is frankly too short for a dress. A pair of capris would have been a classic, summery, finishing touch.

Anonymous Lu said ... (2:47 PM) :

Not seeing it. The dress is short in the isn't-there-something-missing way rather than the cheeky-risqué-hot way and is all kinds of wrong for cycling. Apart from the popped collar and belt I don't see much of note.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:50 PM) :

I think these two photos say a lot. First photo, men circling around her like prey, second photo, like the cat that swallowed the canary. She is obviously very aware of the effect she has on men.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:30 PM) :

Vibrant, saucy look in the madras shorty dress...the intrigue is whether or not the shorts exist underneath (of course they do...??) or her time would be very short on that seat. Great legs though!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:32 PM) :

She is darling what cute knees. She obviously feels good about herself. I always look for plumpish (compared to the models) girls on your blog ever since the time you drew attention to a not so skinny woman: after following 5 years and seeing people with a great "look" and no mention of body type.

I'm 59 today so I'm going share a thought.

We all need to spend more time in South America to learn to feel good in our skins and have less opinions about other's. At 53 a change came over me on in Argentina. I met a softly shaped grandmother on the beach with her grandchildren, in a thong bikini building sand castles. Sand castles are so symbolic.

Can't......concentrate...........all......blood......rushing.........from......my........head......right.......now.

I'm not a fan of flip flops
but,
this woman is ridiculously pretty and sexy in a very nonchalant way. I shudder to think of the number of fender benders and accidents she caused on this day.

Anonymous jdit said ... (5:38 PM) :

Wow Scott...
If you were to have drawn or sketched her no one would believe such poise and posture. All lines, from those of the seat bar of the bike, the sign post and the bollard beside her, make for a breathtaking sense of linear perfection.

2nd pic)
Stunning as she is - when my lover is in the throes of tying up her hair like that it transports me...

Anonymous Helen said ... (6:24 PM) :

She reminds me of Lola in the Italian film "Frivolous Lola".... in the opening scene, Lola rides her bike with her skirt blowing up and the man following behind her can see... well, you get my meaning. Scott, if you haven't seen "Frivolous Lola", I think the combination of bicycles and Lola will definitely entrance you!

Anonymous andrew scharf said ... (1:42 AM) :

This photograph of the woman in movement of the bicycle is fresh, sexy, and dynamic. The madras print shirt dress captures the summer zeitgeist in the best meaning of the Ivy style for a contemporary woman. the fact that it is shot in Milan is no surprise. Italians have a way of taking an American theme and giving it their own distinctive voice.

from Andrew Scharf

Blogger Via Roma 1 said ... (1:54 AM) :

the shirt is lovely, but she looks like she forgot to wear her pants, and I don't find it's the ideal outfit in town. Just a tiny bit longer, and she would have avoided being trashy.

Anonymous Camille said ... (4:09 AM) :

Funny, my mom had a summer dress with a similar pattern back in the 80s. What goes around comes around, right?

I like these shirt dresses, but lately, these dresses have been getting shorter and shorter. Or maybe, it's not a dress to begin with, but an actual shirt.
In any case, my first reflex every time I see the short version of this dress, I can't help but think: "Oops! The girl forgot to put some pants on."

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:28 AM) :

She forgot her shorts? Milan is a city, she's not at the beach but she doesnt' seem aware of it....

The belt around her waist makes the look- creates the curves. Good choice to flaunt it.

I wonder how many accidents she caused due to passing motorists looking at her instead of the road ahead.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:21 AM) :

Sexy? Yes. Stylish? No. This looks like the Italian version of Tommy Hilfiger working for GUESS = the opposite of cool.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:54 AM) :

Too much skin. Seems to be crying for attention.

Blogger lollipop4598 said ... (2:08 AM) :

She is probably wearing shorts under the tunic. But Im not sure what the point is of asking for that information. I doubt that Scott looked under her shirt. She looks cute, and she does very well dressing for her figure type, keeping the proportion correct.

Anonymous Bill said ... (8:33 AM) :

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:13 PM) :

Thank you for the inspiration. I had no idea what to wear today until I browsed through your recent entries and saw this.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:21 AM) :

There's nothing wrong with how she looks, I don't reckon it's brilliant or particularly inspiring though.
Bike is fantastic. Photos are great, but if executed with less quality, could look trashy very quickly.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:31 AM) :

Far too short for my liking and particularly when riding a bike. That's why those men are looking at her, not because she's they think she's beautiful. Looks skanky to me.

Blogger Stu said ... (9:14 AM) :

there is something enchantingly beautiful about a pretty girl in a pretty dress on a pretty bicycle.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:04 PM) :

This looks like an actual men's shirt that she's belted and styled, not an out and out dress. I do hope she's at least wearing hot pants under it, because flashing one's lady bits is never, ever sexy or stylish. I also want to pipe up in defense of the flip flips - I love how casual and easy they are and sometimes they are the perfect shoe choice for an outfit.

Blogger ktmo said ... (6:43 AM) :

i have almost no fashion rules, and love to go around breaking the ones that still exist, but i would no sooner wear flip flops in public than i would my sweat pants. and i'm from LA! yet I still have the wherewithal to leave my sloppy pj things at home. i know it's summer, but all the flip flops...i'm afraid people are going to start wearing their terrycloth robes and rubber soled slippers around. slippery slope.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:13 AM) :

Looks like a Kardashian. I dunno, must be the huge sunnies :)
