I love the asymmetrical quality of this, and the colors. Oh, and the dog. It's all good.

Blogger Darrell said ... (9:27 AM) :

Did you tell her she has a long-lost sister in Milan? Look two posts down.

Anonymous Brendan said ... (9:28 AM) :

My favorite thing about this is the leash. I also like that the leash fills out the primary color palette.. red, yellow, blue.

Hands down the best thing about this is the expression on her dog's face. Amazing.

As for her outfit, the colour of the dress is sublime, I adore it.

I love the color combination and interesting asymetrical sweater (although it looks too warm for NY this time of year). What makes this special, though, is the little dog. He's looking directly at the camera and seems to be smiling. So funny!

Blogger Mary Beth said ... (9:57 AM) :

A cute dog is always always a great accessory. It's either that or fantastic hair. Both take a lot of upkeep, but one doesn't need to go on walks.

Blogger Lipstick Sunshine said ... (10:05 AM) :

This is really bold and beautiful, and the dog is totally into the shot! Great look

Blogger Marcel Da Chump said ... (10:09 AM) :

There's a bar on Spring & Mulberry:
I was looking out the window
when an elegant, pretty woman walked by
with her dog in tow and she stopped
to pose for a photograher.
It all seemed perfectly natural.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:09 AM) :

I'm sure I'm not the only reader who saw this outfit and IMMEDIATELY thought of the Buddhist monks in Thailand who wear the saffron robes with similar draping patterns. The Thai king's color is yellow too. She'd fit right in on the streets of Bangkok.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:10 AM) :

the dooooooooog!!! cutecutecute!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:11 AM) :

The color combination is perfect. Perfect. It makes her skin radiate. Everything here is fantastic, except:

She could do better than flip flops.
Those rings have to go. Take it to Albuquerque.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:16 AM) :

I'm not a big fan of the primary colors, and I can't help but wonder if she's roasting in that sweater!

This photograph melts me. As you feature bikes often, are you going to start to feature dogs? Nice coordination between the skirt and leash. Her rings are fabulous.

Anon 11:24, I believe the dog's harness is on correctly, it's one designed so that when he pulls is slows the front limbs rather than choking at the neck.

Love the look:0

This photo proves what I've always known, as a dog lover and dog owner: no matter how great you look, your dog will always upstage you. And that is one of the cutest beagles I've seen in a long time.

Anonymous Simn brown said ... (1:02 PM) :

Lovely. Elegant mix of colours, interesting cut and the most perfect accessory, a comfortable smile.

The dog's pretty neat too.

Blogger Look Pretty. said ... (1:08 PM) :

nice pic. I swear, someone should do a blog just of people out walking their dogs.

Anonymous CaliGirl said ... (1:12 PM) :

Sweet happy look! Sweater is very nice but the rings are kind of tacky, sorry. Beautiful smile makes us for it though:)

Blogger ChalcedonyofSF said ... (1:21 PM) :

D'accord with everyone - the dog's facial expression is priceless - smiling... perhaps - definitely a happy pup!

There is something about a person who dresses like a monk, but isn't (formally). Is is a past-life influence or a current life secret desire? Is it just a way of being from inside out, the interior practice of focused devotion to the greater All? Or, maybe she just likes the the combo of the blue and the yellow and together this is how it is perceived?

I'll always like the "monk" look, but I happen to, fashion-wise, give her props for attire - worth the pic!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:41 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:51 PM) :

Colours are great, but this is a bit shapeless IMO.
The dog totally steals the show tho'!

Anonymous Kimberley California said ... (3:02 PM) :

I really like the brightness of her outfit and the overall glow coming from her. And her little doggie is just to much, it's like he's smiling.

One question... you have a great eye for style & chicness; and i've seen your photograph's of plus size men, but i don't recall seeing any plus size women.

Are there no fashionable plus size women in NY, Milan or Sweden? I happen to be plus size and think i'm pretty fashionable; if you'd like to come to California I'll let you shoot me.

Blogger Kay said ... (3:13 PM) :

Beautiful girl, comical little pup!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:18 PM) :

Love the little smiling dog!!

Her look is pretty cool, too. My first thought was that it's a re-thinking & re-contextualizing of the sari concept, but I definitely see the monks' robes resonance, too. There's something very graceful about the outfit as a whole.

Anonymous tallulah said ... (3:31 PM) :

What is it with the dog? Maybe because I am not a 'doggy person' but it seems irrelevant to me, despite the cutesy face it's pulling.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:24 PM) :

Is this the first photo of someone walking a dog on The Sartorialist? It helps that the leash works not only as a dog accessory but as an accessory for her. She is beautiful and elegantly dressed even without the pooch's leash. I love the color choice and the draping. She knows how to dress herself. I must add that I love the dog's smile.

Blogger Remy said ... (4:52 PM) :

Although I love the splendid combination of colours and the draping, it disfigures her slightly. Flip flops shouln't EVER be seen in public. Nevertheless a magnificent figure and the dog is great.

I had no idea about the concept "milanese lady", in fact, I have no idea about "milanese lady", and what about "napoli lady"? I prefer the South to the North

"milanese lady" sounds pretentious

On the other hand, I love asymetrical clothes.

Hmmm...I'm thinking the sweater is Alexander Wang. Wish I could get a better look at that dress, though. I am trying to find a good, brightly colored maxi skirt/dress for early fall.

Blogger jackie said ... (11:00 AM) :

I don't care what Sarah said about that harness, it looks wrong. How would that be useful? I just don't see it. Harnesses by design, distribute the control the walker has over the dog.
Sorry, Sart, this is distracting.
