I do love a limited palette. Black and white always looks elegant - and, of course, having a wonderful figure doesn't hurt!

The third shot. To me sandles and summer are like peaches and cream. they just go together.

Blogger shu84 said ... (10:21 AM) :

Love all of those Looks:)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:26 AM) :

I was in the city yesterday and I don't understand how new yorkers manage to wear black in the summer! I am from Brazil and associate summer with color. I've tried wearing black in the heat, after all, I'll admit, it looks chic when it's done right, but I feel so HOT!

Anyway... just my two cents. In the end of the day, I realize that culture and the environment play a big part in what we wear.

Blogger comme fraiche said ... (10:27 AM) :

The only thing I didn't like was the socks in the first photo

Anonymous B. in the Know said ... (10:38 AM) :

Blogger Michelle York said ... (10:53 AM) :

White skirt w/ black Chic (lest one look like the waiter at the party!)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:53 AM) :

Regarding the sandals in the last shot, they are very similar to a pair of Michael Kors sandals I have from last season. They're elastic and super comfy. (Mine have a toe ring, rather than the crossed straps at the toe area.)

Blogger Jenni said ... (10:58 AM) :

The black and white look really well, I've been trying to avoid bright colours this summer and it looks like I've found a few ideas!

Thanks for the blog

Jenni x

I love all things Self Tan

Blogger Marcel Da Chump said ... (12:30 PM) :

it's a vintage bike frame (60's, 70's?) that's been
built-up with new parts and wheels. Great idea for a fashionable city bike. I think it's a Fuji.

Blogger Color Collective said ... (12:31 PM) :

so lovely! all of them!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:32 PM) :

I tried to enjoy the first outfit visually, but my eyes couldn't get around all the bones.. girl needs a sandwhich.

Blogger Wildthingsrunfast said ... (12:45 PM) :

There is something so amazing about black and white in the heat of summer. As if those who don't wear the bright colours of summer are defying the rules...The result in this case: stunning.

Anonymous shervinsworld said ... (12:49 PM) :

Beautiful women on bikes is the best thing about summer in NY!!

Blogger Martina said ... (12:52 PM) :

Blogger Annette said ... (2:16 PM) :

I stray away from black during the summer because I fear that it looks "too hot." But these girls look gorgeous and fresh! Esp the one in the second photo.

Blogger black coffee said ... (2:23 PM) :

love the sunglasses from picture two. but i really hate when socks are visible.

Blogger jca said ... (2:37 PM) :

Yes, I really like how you can count all of the first girl's ribs. Sexy!

But in all seriousness. I do love the photos and especially, the worn out boots in the first photo -- they look like the ones painted by Van Gogh! Worn to perfection.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:00 PM) :

My two favorite colors. What a contrast.

Blogger whiterice said ... (3:01 PM) :

So Chic. Love the structure

Mid calf socks & gazelle legs - I am so utterly jealous right now!

Great style

I love black and white, and these outfits are amazing. Love them

Blogger Cristiana Nunes said ... (7:22 PM) :

Great first look: so simple and cool!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:48 PM) :

That boot-sock combo in the first shot is pretty interesting. Haven't seen that much before. Objectively it shouldn't work as it cuts the calf in half visually - kind of like unflattering cowboy boots. And yet for this woman it's definitely working. Definitely something best attempted by the long-of-leg.

Blogger Joy said ... (8:27 PM) :

All of these women are so very chic.

Anonymous Daniela said ... (8:47 PM) :

I really like the third picture, not just because of her clothes, but also because of her attitude. That's what really makes an outfit unique.

Blogger Jacob said ... (8:55 PM) :

Wow. She made black socks and shorts sexy. I didn't think that was possible.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:02 PM) :

i need those sandals in the third shot! i have a similar heel (with the black elastic bands) by BCBG but flats would work so much better here in Hawaii!

Anonymous nicolethen said ... (9:13 PM) :

LOVE this post. so casual comfortable yet stylish. such a great inspiration for today :D thank you

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:28 PM) :

I covet that tank!

I love the contrast here with the other cyclist.

Blogger Rachel said ... (11:54 PM) :

Falling Whistles!

Anonymous Ruslana said ... (12:05 AM) :

There is something about an attractive girl on a bicycle that is bound to turn every male head.

Blogger Project Curve said ... (12:55 AM) :

just a few examples of what one can do with the classic black & white combo

Blogger DeLuna said ... (1:25 AM) :

I love following your blog posts soo much! Do you need them to all sign a model release?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:19 AM) :

Love everything!

Blogger ♥ Jana Marie ♥ said ... (4:03 AM) :

brilliant shots!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:01 AM) :

I love this site but i think, as far as photos of women are concerned, there is a tendency to just publish photos of beautiful young girls, who are usually nicely dressed but sometimes nothing particularly amazing (eg this one?) rather than stylishly dressed girls and women. There is sometimes a noticable lack of older women, which is when stylish dressing really counts! please dont be sexist, ... we want good dressing, not more youth worship!!!

Blogger M said ... (6:38 AM) :

There's nothing edgier than monochrome. Gorgeous photos!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:16 AM) :

WEAR A FRIKKIN HELMET!!!!!! I guess some ppl will never learn... until someone, or they, die. Like my dear friend TB. She left a 1 year old daughter and a devastated family and group of friends behind.

And it could all have been avoided by a h e l m e t.

Blogger KC said ... (8:43 AM) :

ooooh!! i love it very much!!

Anonymous abbigliamento said ... (9:58 AM) :

Il bianco e il nero vanno sempre di moda!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:03 AM) :

First girl should fold her socks down. Now it looks like men's socks.

Blogger reigs said ... (11:42 AM) :

The fad for fixed wheel bikes is just that - a fad. Wait and see how many people trade them in for geared bikes once they realise they're developing thighs like tree trunks - not attractive.

Anonymous Bike Rider said ... (2:57 PM) :

The bike is a fuji feather, probably '09 or '10, with new handlebars and a basket.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:07 PM) :

A helmet is the ultimate fashion accessory for a bicycle.

Blogger Leonie said ... (4:09 PM) :

Love the second outfit. Simple, but super classy!

Anonymous Z.Z. said ... (10:08 PM) :

Classic color combination- look at me using alliteration!

Check out my blog, it's awesome airplane asthma!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:15 AM) :

Sart, I love it whenever you manage to capture positive energy from your subjects. Like what you have done here.

Positive energy has nothing to do with age: it has everything to do with attitude.

The photograph of the lady in Florence left me slightly deflated; her melancholy "diffused" through that picture. Such is the power of the image....

Blogger evolV said ... (1:03 AM) :

I like the pendant necklace in the first image. Whistle? Bullet?

Anonymous ilkin said ... (4:51 AM) :

Photo#1: Her top is quite simple, yet very feminine! I love it.

Photo#2: The dress and the purse/bag looks perfect together. I'm not so fond of the shoes though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:23 PM) :

I agree with the post about how frequently we see young, beautiful girls on this site whose style is nice but nothing out of the ordinary (as here). You see this same style on young people literally everywhere. Agree too that it's rare to see stylish, sophisticated older women with polish here. Strangely enough, there's plenty of diversity with regards to the gents, with all age groups and all kinds of looks represented.

Blogger Jibby West said ... (5:03 PM) :

Black and white always looks classy no matter how simple..

Anonymous Lauren said ... (6:19 PM) :

Anonymous Anna said ... (3:26 PM) :

I also love how a yellow cab is reflected in her glasses.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:06 PM) :

I think those sandals are the Strain Flat Sandal by Acne....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:00 PM) :

if there is one thing to be said about the girls of manhattan, is that they know how to use their best assets - their legs!

Blogger Cat said ... (11:43 AM) :

monocromatic love. been there, adored it. :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:45 PM) :

yes, yes, and yes!

Blogger Sundal said ... (2:53 PM) :

that girl with the high pony looks like a model. and oh look, you can see the shape of her portfolio in her tote bag (we all carry them in london too), dead giveaway. fantastic style.

Anonymous Brodsky Organization said ... (9:18 AM) :
