Such an effortlessly chic look!

Blogger Marcel Da Chump said ... (9:32 AM) :

Is that Laurie Anderson?
I can't imagine anyone else owning that hat.
A confident and assured way to coordinate navy--even the tree looks impressed.

Blogger comme fraiche said ... (9:32 AM) :

Like the navy look and her belt, handbag and hat keeps the navy look from going overboard

Blogger Danielle said ... (9:55 AM) :

Cute hat! :)

Blogger Cynthia Fox-Giddens said ... (10:01 AM) :

I like the solid look from head to toe. The gray hat adds a nice pop and is pretty hip.

Great shot, as always!!

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:14 AM) :

I love the cut of the trousers and the coat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:16 AM) :

It's her low-waisted belt that won my heart. Yes, the hat is wonderful love love how she styled her coat.

Blogger The Sluice Box said ... (10:25 AM) :

Great subdued look, almost sculptural.

Blogger Diamond Cat said ... (10:47 AM) :

Love it!.. Have a great weekend, ~ xoxo

Blogger Teresa @ good-grace said ... (10:56 AM) :

Loving the dark hues... I feel it may be the inspiration for an outfit on our cold, dreary, wet weekend. (At least it would give me *something* to look forward to...)

Blogger hp said ... (10:59 AM) :

Love the punctuations of red in the sea of navy/black/grey! Cool hat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:10 AM) :

Ghost of Annie Hall...

Blogger HStrang said ... (11:11 AM) :

I'm SO not a fan of this look. But what I do like are her red nails peeking out and her red bag. What's happening with the rolled up pants? It feels like way too much navy. Is that possible?

LOVE the Simple Portrait, Florence below. Classic.

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:23 AM) :

I love the direction this blog is going in! It is inspiring to me as an artist! love this women and are unique flow!

Blogger Linda Lu said ... (11:46 AM) :

I love how a lot of the light hits her lovely hat. I wonder where she bought it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:49 AM) :

Hats are back! I love her booths as well. Annie Hall updated, great!

Blogger THUNDERCUP said ... (11:51 AM) :

hmm not too sure about the length of the pants and the socks showing, but the belt looks like the kind i've been on the hunt for!

still lovely, and she gets cool points for being able to pull this outfit off.

Blogger Leonor said ... (11:51 AM) :

Blogger Stylison said ... (12:58 PM) :

cool outfit!

Anonymous Pika said ... (1:08 PM) :

Almost four consecutive pictures showing people with cell phones...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:17 PM) :

This look is perfectly suited to her build. The waist on the pant, the belt, the coat with the low belt, the wide lapel - this is a great look. I'd like to see her bag - I bet it's interesting.

Anonymous said ... (1:55 PM) :

We love how the hat and a pop of color with the bag really changes the scope of a simple outfit. Great shot!

Anonymous Tinted Lenses said ... (2:23 PM) :

So androgynous I'm not sure whether it's a he or she - but that's not a bad thing, is it?

Blogger Cloud P. said ... (3:03 PM) :

I love this look, rather interesting proportions, and then, the hat! A little green on top, a little navy for the rest. Aren't rolled up pants this season?

Anonymous discount louis vuitton said ... (11:37 PM) :

A bit too crazy for my taste, but the colors are certainly an interesting combination. I admire her for wearing exactly what she wants, and you for taking her photo! 2945abc45 0423

Anonymous the magpie said ... (1:47 AM) :

It doesn't matter what you are wearing, I don't believe anyone looks cool hunched over their smartphone, texting. Is it just me?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:58 AM) :

Love the red accents

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:31 AM) :

Blogger beesandbugs said ... (4:27 AM) :

Very sophisticated look. Love the colour palette, although it's a bit dark for spring.
Great photo!

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:31 AM) :

Nice picture. The hat makes the look imvho. In France, only the very conservative would wear a mix of navy blue, bottle green & claret red.
Is it the same in NYC?

Blogger MELISSA Z. said ... (4:57 AM) :

love this photo so much, well done!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:06 AM) :

Is this YOKO?

Blogger Rafa said ... (5:14 AM) :

Her demeanor is so understated, yet still oozing class. The red nails compliment the bag beautifully.

Blogger MFP said ... (5:47 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:20 AM) :

That looks says stylish AND intelligent to me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:47 AM) :

greeeat! love it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:23 AM) :

anybody knows what kind of hat is that? I believe Burberry had a season where everyone wore the same hat.

Anonymous Yuri C said ... (11:46 AM) :

Scott, I adore your work and without a doubt you have a great eye for detail and individualistic fashion. That being said, I would love to see more photographs of people of color. If a person takes a quick look at the entirety of your current first page, it's evident that there is a very euro-centric focus. Because your page draws audiences of all colors and backgrounds, it is important to mirror this. The fashion world is already alienating enough to so many people, yet street fashion is a realm that everyone has the possibility of truly connecting to.

Blogger The Foolish Aesthete said ... (12:11 PM) :

I like the composition of this photo and the moment you caught!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:43 PM) :

is that Yoko Ono?!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:47 PM) :

looks like a rere

Anonymous Zenobiar said ... (12:59 PM) :

Is that Yoko Ono? Following Ines de la F's advice about switching to navy from black ?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:38 PM) :

looks good

Blogger naomi said ... (1:51 PM) :

what a great hat!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:02 PM) :

I love the coat! It has a great long collar and low belt with fitted sleeves. This woman looks like the sea at night. Dark navy blue with a hint of green, red and grey...well other than the red, she would look like the sea lol

Blogger Cuca. said ... (4:13 PM) :

having blogs like the sartorialist make people's life more beautiful!congratulations!

Anonymous Letizia said ... (4:18 PM) :

Really great look, I like so much her hat!!

Anonymous tallulah said ... (4:18 PM) :

I agree - on first sight I thought that this was Yoko Ono. What a lovely, comfortable look - love the way the satchel matches the belt as if by accident.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:21 PM) :

My first thought was Annie Hall too. Or I thought she might be an artist. But the red nails sort of rule out the arts. Artists tend to have ragged fingernails. Comes from working with the hands.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:25 PM) :

What a lovely outfit! I'm especially loving the collar on the coat!

Anonymous ghostranchguy said ... (7:31 PM) :

kindah depressing... forlorn... not very present this person... but then i suspect that's the modern portrait of the day

Blogger Jane Alisa said ... (8:07 PM) :

Beautiful coat.

Blogger Álvaro said ... (8:10 PM) :

love the mix of that red and the black outfit

Blogger Dr.B said ... (8:22 PM) :

Glad I'm not the only one who thought it looked like Yoko.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:11 PM) :

Like a modern day pilgrim...

Blogger Nadine2point0 said ... (10:57 PM) :

This photo could be from another century...if not for the tech gadget in hand.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:38 AM) :

Sometimes these short trousers look so perfect, like here. Sometimes they look redicilous. What exactly makes the difference?

Blogger Kim said ... (9:16 AM) :

absolutely lovely !

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:09 AM) :

I'd like to see that bag!

Blogger pelininstyle said ... (6:14 PM) :

Lovely shot!

Blogger so, dress me said ... (7:35 PM) :

Kay Eiffel: I read this, in this fantastically depressing book, that when you jump from a building, it's rarely the impact that actually kills you.

She would totally text this. While smoking a 100 in the rain.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:07 AM) :

do you know the designer of the coat? it is simply amazing.

Blogger Jacob said ... (3:29 PM) :

You nailed it, by the way. Displays the same talent with colour, form, contrast, and focus as the Impressionists.
