I agree on the no socks, feet have to stay warm too, ya know. I think green socks to pick up the color of the scarf would look nice.

Blogger Kathleen said ... (10:19 PM) :

Looking fantastic. Wow, what an incredible job of layering. Starting with the simple t-shirt and khakis and working his way out to the sweater. I LOVE THE SWEATER. And his shoes are such a great color, perfectly neutral with everything he's wearing. Looks like a wet and nasty day there in Florence, but he is looking warm and cozy. Once again, great play of fore and backgrounds. Lovely photograph.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:44 PM) :

intriguing he left the bottom left button unbuttoned

Blogger Mary said ... (10:53 PM) :

.......but what on earth would I wear to compete for admiring glances? It's a great outfit but I wouldn't/couldn't go out with him in public!

Oh yes, do add me to the list of those who would kill for the sweater coat........and with toggles it is easily unisex!

Awesome photos of amazing clothes/people - so glad I've found you.

so a perfect style!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:19 AM) :

The scarf underneath the jacket makes him look uncomfortable further shown by the inability of the jacket to button up completely!
He look rather stuffy, I would suggest a thinner scarf or no scarf at all.

Blogger Unknown said ... (7:26 AM) :

I love the sweater and the austrian knots ;)

Very classy man...elegant and cool at the same time! The wool montgomery is fantastic!!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:34 AM) :

Not doing it for me at all - I just think he looks silly.

Trousers too short (and, if it's really that cold, unsuitably lightweight). And, I know it's just me, but single monks are truly horrible, so double that for these!

Anonymous hanna said ... (8:05 AM) :

omg you've got such a cute blog.

Blogger davidikus said ... (8:08 AM) :

The heavy golden buttons give the impression the jacket is not straight: the ones that are not buttoning sit down lower than the others (law of physics).

The layering on the other hand, is wonderful.

I don't know - it feels over-stuffed to me. Layering can be fabulous but sometimes I feel it's gone too far. It's so ubiquitous and never looks comfortable. Let's change it up sometimes, Sartorialist!

I wonder how long his jacket's sleeves are. ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:02 PM) :

I'm going to just say it. This guy looks ridiculous. I bet he feels even worse. It looks so uncomfortable! Reminds me of when your parents bundle you up in a snowsuit with many layers underneath and you can't even put your arms down all the way.

Blogger Evie said ... (9:08 PM) :

Anonymous Dana said ... (8:44 AM) :

I'll bet he has a closet bursting with luxurious goodies...why not layer them and look beyond stylish. He also doesn't care too much as his blazer is a bit sloppy and I like that - he's not thinking too hard about his looks but he has great taste.

Tonally, I think he has a well balanced outfit although the coat might be a bit too casual for the look. Can't say I have aever seen a sweater-knit duffle before-very nice and very unique (makes you wonder if it is all wool or some other expensive wool blend. Love the monk-strap shoes.
