Lovely ! Loving the red dress, the dots are just about the right size!:) she look so funky! :D
Gorgeous - got to love a bit of colour to brighten up a drab autumn day.

Wow a very '40s look but the shocking blue tights make it modern.
http://fashionroadkill-halifax.blogspot.com
that's really outstanding!

Love the tights!
Such an eye-catching, mismatched, cool style. Brilliant.
She must get those beautiful strong legs from riding that bike.
love the dress

Very brave color block combination, love the vintage vibe and the effortless chic.
You've been taking a lot of photos around the NYU area. I'm there all the time and I agree--kids are smartening up. Especially grad school students.
Woah, this is a cool pic.
What pretty colors ....LOVE!!

Original :D
Fantastic shot. I wish you had of captured her riding the bike with those heals. Its all very kokoo but I love it.

what a color contrast!!
http://flyselfportrait.blogspot.com/
She looks fabulous!
I love the colors.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that she is wearing a helmet. I never see ppl in your bike-riding pics with one.
Here in Oz it is the law to wear one, so all my dream of a gorgeous retro bike with a wicker basket on the front are dashed with a 'do wrecking helmet.
the coolest girl ever!!

ugly betty style
I love polka dots! Nice pic.
xx
Oh, wow! I absolutely love those colours!
lovely legs
I love the blue!
First thing first- I love that you took this shot on University place, in NYC. I do most of my people watching there (a nice spin off from the Union Square crowd), and it's a little strip of so much inspiration. :-)
Especially like the subject above. She knows how to match colors so that she stands out in an interesting way- maybe because she knew that riding bikes in NYC is very dangerous. ;-) I love the fur collar, it's trend without lacking originality.
She's such a lady. I love it.
wow. totally love this, all of it. never seen a bike helmet look so cool.
is that a brompton bike? even more cool to be riding a foldable bike. her helmet is a great model for how to lend funky cool to a cycling outfit.
how cool is she! love this!

I've never seen coloured tights look so good, it's like she's spray painted her legs. The (slightly orange) red of the dress is fab with them too.
Is she wearing a stole? I love it...
nice one!
Unbelievable :)
love the colors!
PERFECT!!
Just when I wanted to write that I would never ever wear polka dot you come up with this... Now I've got to think again.
Gosh, Scott. You've been ON these past few days! What a beautiful and intriguing subject. The modern day glamor woman, wearing her fur stole and blue tights while riding her bike! Fabulous.

So creative, love the red dress.
http://lhabitue.blogspot.com
I agree. How cool is SHE!
Look at her!!!
was this an interpretation for election day?
red white & blue.
she's treading a very fine line between eccentric and kooky.
vintage apparel 'notice me' look.
not for the faint of heart.
Wow!.. That's brave!..
This is definitely one of my favourite outfits you've ever photographed. Even loving her cute bike and helmet!
charming!!! Just to fall in love :)
So glad to see someone actually wearing a helmet! It's silly to compromise safety for vanity -- and here she didn't have to.
Finally a girl wearing a helmet and still looking stylish!
Whenever I see style shots of girls on bikes I think they are super cute but unrealistic. I cycle to work everyday in London and try to dress like I normally would in dresses and heels but not to wear a helmet would be suicide! I am very happy to see this.

Fabulous!
Oh! beautiful dress AND a helmet! My kind of lady :D
The colors are nice with all the neutrals around these days, no driver is going to miss her on her bike!

Love her fur stole

I absolutely LOVE when stylish girls ride bikes - in heels, dress and all. It's badass and practical at the same time :)
She looks like a super hero.
Love the polka dots.
Rad!

I lose it at the shoes, I don't think they work with over all look. Some funky bright Fluevogs and then a real winning bold fashion look. Great effort and definately bold.
Magnificent combination of colors!!!))) This beautiful picture speaks to us, enjoy life!!! Bravo, very nice picture!!!)))
Loving those tights.
Very Dr. Seuss! :)

SSS = super stylish student!

wow...coool...love the dress
That looks so fabulous. I like the blue color stockings.
I like the dress... but that is the smartest bicycle I've seen-- the low bar makes it easy to ride with a skirt.
Nice legs!! biking gives you those nice firm muscles, nice!! jaja
great dress, high heels, and a bicycle , how does she do it?
Stunning, effortless style! The perfect shade of turquoise tights to just sway her away from looking like a walking flag.
Superman colors.
A truly vintage feel also you she is riding that in a dress major props I hate doing that myself.
I'm loving the dots, the red like this http://www.maendler.com/alexander-mcqueen-rot-kleid-wolle-1.html in combination with the blue tights!!!!So easy....
beautiful dress, high heels and a bicycle. How to look good while you exercise!
Welcome back, dear furs! Of course, I mean rather as second hand.
Those blue tights make the outfit.
sooo
Bold!
sooo
Fabulous!
I like this look.
The stockings and the dress just pop.

WOW, she rocked that look
I am all about color!

Wow, wow, wow! Love this, head to toe. All who are afraid they won't look cool enough while wearing a helmet, pay attention!
i love the mix of colour!! http://www.fashionablenotebook.blogspot.com
nice color combination (:
http://pineplanet.blogspot.com/
Nice texture and colors. For the clothes and the photo.
Wow, definitely another addition to the ciclistas fashionistas team. It's like a movement now..
The fur is a lovely touch.
Everything's perfect!
Even the cap!
I am a little jealous of her dress! Where do i buy mine?
I don't know how many of us have noticed this at first glance but this woman has beautiful calves, the muscles well defined and formed apparent even over the thick, blue stockings! She also looks very confident with her posture, facial expression, and the assemble of the outfit.
Hmm, maybe it is just my feminist side holding an M.S. in Women's Studies :)
white shoes not!
red dress fine, tights awesome! :D
best one yet
If you asked me "would you like blue, red and whtie all together?" I'd surely answer you "of course, no!" But here they are amazing and this outfit is such young ...
http://fashiondoesntexist.blogspot.com/
Glorious. Some of the recent photos have been a little too close to ordinary/practical for me. This woman looks really fantastic and in fact she's really well-dressed for a bike ride, in which your torso gets hot and needs air to keep from being sweaty, and your neck and chest get cool (primarily for women who have lower-necked clothes) and needs a scarf or fur stole to stay comfortable. Plus helmet. She makes the helmet look fashionable!
oh my... the colors in this entire picture are phenomenal! the first thing that caught my eye was the contrasting green and yellow leaves at the top.
and then to see the red of the dress.
and then the big surprise of her blue tights and white shoes!
all complemented by the red green and yellow newspaper dispensers.
nicely done! I love color blocking.
Yes, my first thought was hooray for the helmet--and it looks so bold and brazen with that outfit--I love it.
me encantan los lunares!!! i love this look! i work so much this color and print...is nice!
www.laurameponeflamenca.blogspot.com
I miss NY sooo mucho that my eyes go straight to the trees in the background, nyc trees!
Love the dress, love the the fact that she makes safety look good.
I really just LOVE that she's wearing a helmet. I can never bring myself to wear one when I ride my bike - then again, I do live in a small town with next to no traffic worries - but if she can rock one, maybe I can, too.
He looks fab !
Makes me think of a little girl playing dress-up and nobody made her change into "something more appropriate" before leaving the house. I like it!
Both she, and her bike, are ridiculously cool.
Cool, striking outfit. North Americans (including myself) are so un-daring with tights - this is great. And thank you for shooting a cyclist with a helmet. I love your romantic shots of women riding their bikes, hair flowing .... but here in Toronto it's risky to go without a helmet - and I'll gladly mess up my hair to be safe .... great shot.
Favolosa
I have that same bike, its the best ever!
i spy with my little eye a fur-clad lady in red, white and blue.

Cool outfit, but that bike is awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Wow, that is beyond amazing!
Great Color palette!!! just too pretty to see, buuuut.. the fur... well... is fur... mmm.. yep...
www.miposteo.blogspot.com
I love his dress and tights but i dont understand wearing that fur scarf thingy with short sleeves...is it cold or hot??
I just have to say this...from the knees down she reminds me of a smurf....not necessarily a bad thing :)
It's a lovely red dress and an interesting use of color! Certainly eye-catching!
love the shocking outcome! cute!
Kudos to her for showing that bike helmets aren't only necessary but stylish too!
This is a daring outfit - a little too red, white and blue for me though.
http://www.hsquaredfashion.blogspot.com
I love this: the colours, the attitude, th emix of practical and fun. Note to helmet-loving posters: if you feel it's too dangerous to cycle without a helmet then your city is not offering enough cycle infrastructure and cycle-positive culture.
My favorite shot of the year!
V interesting style xxx
http://reallyliteral.blogspot.com/
I love how she's wearing a helmet, AND she still looks good!
divine
Cute!! Lovin the color palette on this one!

Besides the fur, I love the dress length. So feminine!
I really like the overall look. Love her calfs, especially. Hate the white shoes.
certainly eye-catching! I also find something rather intruiging about bikes, which automatically makes me like this photo!

I totally love this crazy style!

love the color combo!
meravigliosa!!!!!
This is a lovely everyday look. I have yet to master the "art" of writing my bike in heels though.

http://theprojectzen.wordpress.com
The bike is not a Brompton. It appears to be a coaster-brake version of a Bianchi folding bike---Like this but without the little horn for the caliper brake on the rear wheel:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bianchi_folder_jeh.JPG
Very cool bike, though.
these colors are so vibrant! i, too, ride my bike around new york, but haven't mastered the heels/dress combo quite yet!
thecoffeeexperiment.blogspot.com
Unlike the previous one this has both form and function. I love it and the colors are fantastic. Its easier to ride a bike in tights and those blue tights, I bet she stops traffic! Love the dress too.
Interesting sleeves on the dress, coupled with the sash knotted in back, along with the white ankle straps looks very vintage. Love the blue tights. Color combo has a patriotic vibe to me!
funny.
last month inge, the girl on the foto still ran a sweets shop in brussels.
i lent her my bike and helmet, my wife the tights..
she suddenly disappeared and now i find her here on this fabulous blog again..
if you meet her please tell her to give back the things to us sometimes and also please tell her we miss her..
SO MANY ELEMENTZ GO INTO THIZ ONE PHOTO!!!! THE VINTAGE FEEL OF THE OUTFIT. THE STOCKINGZ GIVING IT THE EXTRA POP. PLUS THE HELMET GIVING IT SOME EDGE!!!
Love the Dress
i love seeing stylish people riding bikes!
How nice to see a well-dressed cyclist WITH a helmet! I always wear mine, even though I admit it feels a bit out of place without a corresponding spandex outfit. Still, though, my brain is way to important to risk it sans helmet! Let this be a lesson people: you can wear a helmet and look good doing it!
Love this
so stylish, yet so practical
There is nothing better or more impressive than a stylish high-heel-wearing woman on a bike.
Wow, the red and the blue together is stunning! How daring!
http://red-soledfashionista.blogspot.com/
I love the fact that you took this pic in New York! The outfit is strange and interesting at the same time, but still I wouldn't ever see myself dressed like that.
I love NY!
Pleasantly surprised. I wore the same principle almost a month ago here in Paris. I loooove color. Great picture Mr. Schuman
http://nouvellevaguebnd.blogspot.com/2010/10/lil-bit-of-color-in-city-full-of-black.html
Love it, it's just a touch of Mondrian, with red dress, blue tights and the yellow box...
And what to say about the contrast between the fur neckwarmer and the helmet!
Gorgeous!
www.norascrapbook.blogspot.com
Me, that's me. That's my style. How I like to dress. Yes, yes!
{This really isn't intended as a comment, but rather is a complaint about the moderation of the comments.}
First of all---I love your blog. I check it almost everyday, unless I'm traveling.
And yeah, I'm a geek, and I especially love folding bikes.
Someone (anonymous) thought that perhaps this bike was a Brompton, which is obviously is not. I spend a full hour trying to identify what bike that is, and I think I got it right with the Bianchi post I posted a few days ago.
A lot of things like Vespa scooters or Piaggios are pretty easy, but this particular bike isn't, and I really think an obscure vintage bike is as much a part of this woman's style as fur and (awesome) tights.
So I'm complaining that my post didn't cut it because I not only did it take me (a folding bike geek) an hour to identify it, it's a cool and stylish item your readers might appreciate.
Matthew
who is sorry to be anonymous
Beautiful and incredible legs also. Must be all that cycling
Amazing. I wanna be like her! Love U grrrl.
so new york! the dress, fur collar and blue tights. only here!
jaine
www.brklynview.blogspot.com
strange combo but somehow it works for her.
So lovely! The soul craves color, and the urban cyclist is as safe as she is seen. xx
I think she looks like Lisbeth Salander in a happier incarnation!
i love that she's riding her bike - with her fur!!! LOVE IT!
What a statement! She's got balls, and great taste
beautiful.......................
Nice looking outfit. I think that is a man in drag, no?
Brilliant! I love coloured tights - particularly with vibrantly contrasting tights... I wonder if she's a native New Yorker?
Pulling off insane stuff like this witrh aplomb is a sign of sartorial genius.
I love a woman who cycles in a dress and heels. Fabulous!
That's my best friend! I can't believe it. I always encouraged her to wear her heels while biking haha
Nice Bike
I love how this young woman is not letting fashion get in the way of her safety ;)It really says something about her that she shirks the chicness of going helmet-less to save her hair & with cigarette in hand in opposition to her peers.
I am very glad to see a chic person with a helmet. I live in a place with a lot of cars, and it's a must to wear helmets! But I love to look nice when I bicycle too. Sometimes, I think I'll be okay, and I can look better without it. (Not a good choice, I know) This photo is a proof for me that I can look as chic being safe too!
love this. the look is too fun and i'm always in love with a cyclist smart enough to wear a helmet!
