I have been watching Anna with her D&G lace dresses for about a month and I can't stop myself! She's gorgeous and I adore these dresses!

Anonymous The Photodiarist said ... (8:54 AM) :

She's most definitely unstoppable. But in that outfit, she could stop anything. Love it. But my favorite part of her whole look are her sunglasses. Hello! How brilliant are those.

Blogger Jayanthi Kanderi said ... (8:55 AM) :

Dear Scott,
I love this picture. Its because of you and Garance I know women like Anna Dello Russo and a few other trend setters. My whole outlook on fashion has changed for the better. I thank you for your amazing work.

Woahh, I love it! That's really "osé" but also very chic. She must have a strong personality...

Anonymous Jennifer - Stylish Clin d'Oeil said ... (9:01 AM) :

Such a great lace jumpsuit!
I think there is nothin more feminine than lace for a woman^^
and moreover, she assumes it down the street!
Such a great woman^^
Love it!!

This woman is amazing. And so are these Giles sunglasses.

I don't like her style in this occasion, i thinks is a style for a lady more younger than her! anyway the pic is great!

Anonymous J.fonte said ... (9:09 AM) :

Good god, she really is fabulous- and she seems like she's always having fun and is such a positive person.

But seriously, wearing outfits like this all the time, how much waxing does that take LOL.

Blogger Mary Beth said ... (9:11 AM) :

This is so wild, so daring. I'm not sure it would fly here in somewhat tame Chicago. But it would be easy to sew. You'd want to use stretch lace...and now that I think about it..this dress is probably made from stretch lace. I don't see how it woul hug the body otherwise. And it wouldn't be comfortable against bare skin. You could also wear a contrast one-piece underthing...even something with leggings. I'd love to try this sometime. Maybe I will! I love stretch lace and sewing it is a piece o' cake!

Blogger Sarah said ... (9:12 AM) :

Wow. Wow! Bold look. I wonder where she's going in an outfit like this. And is that her underwear, or her bikini because she's just coming from the beach?

I'm always intrigued by photos of this woman. Her face isn't traditionally beautiful, and she doesn't try to look nineteen. But the body, the mane, the confidence, and the clothing make her a stunner.

Anonymous Liza Ramli said ... (9:34 AM) :

Phoar! I could only dream of wearing something like that. Would be totally frowned upon where I live. Perhaps I should move to Milan!

Blogger Diana said ... (9:36 AM) :

I envy of her confidence, that´s for sure :-!
I am very interested in those underwear/bikini, she wears unterneath the dresses. I saw the black-red combo from the back, and the cut of the panty ist great. It covers the bottom completely, but this makes the whole thing even more sexier.

Anonymous sanmiguelense said ... (9:37 AM) :

It looks like she made a wrong turn on her way to an infinity poolside lunch on Ibiza! Donde esta la playa???

Blogger AnnaMoon said ... (9:47 AM) :

Beautiful figure! Elegant dress!

Anonymous Alex said ... (9:59 AM) :

There's nothing more attractive that true confidence. I meet a lot of Italians who have this trait - maybe it's because they're adored from day one! It takes guts to own a look like this and she's got them. Awesome.

I'm not feeling this. Can someone explain why I'm supposed to like it?

Blogger Sandy at Ooh La Frou Frou said ... (10:35 AM) :

It takes a perfection of a body and a ton of confidence to walk into a restaurant in this gorgeous dress!

Blogger Kelly Frances Dunn said ... (10:38 AM) :

I would say her walk and smile while flaunting it is what hits it out of the ballpark :) If anyone dared to put that on, I'm sure they wouldn't have that much confidence to sell the show!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:38 AM) :

I shouldn't love this. It goes against any kind of taste/style I personally have or would choose and yet…she looks beautiful.

My mother, on the other hand, said "old curtains."

Blogger LE CALZATURE said ... (10:49 AM) :

Fantastica... ;0)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:50 AM) :

Really? My first impression was tacky. But just a difference in taste.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:51 AM) :

Trashy look. Lovely body. Great shoes. Bad hair.

Anonymous Min said ... (11:05 AM) :

The best part of the whole ensemble is her smile. She knows she's being outre and she loves it.

Anonymous Jane said ... (11:18 AM) :

I love it, except for earrings and sunglasses. Those I don't get. The glasses seem wrong for her type of face, they're somehow too high and elton john, they almost dehumanize her, and certainly de-elegantize, so to speak. But the dress is marvellous, underwear, shoes, bag, figure, movement, great.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:24 AM) :

I admire her daring, but it's a bit much. As someone said above (I think, I don't know Spanish), where's the beach?

Anonymous Borja said ... (11:25 AM) :

Oh God... I love her!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:31 AM) :

Uh, she looks like a street walker. I mean, come on! She's practically naked underneath that lace, and it leaves nothing to the imagination.

Gotta love Italy. Where else could a woman be dressed like that and a man have a direct line of sight of her and not be staring? The man in the background is just continuing his day -- like the sight of beautiful woman in a white lace outfit is unremarkable. I assume that's her driver, but still.

Picture that in Chicago, or Philly, or SF, or DC...

I love it.

I'm weighing in with: this is a case of "the emperor's new clothes."

Blogger Monsieur Boivin said ... (12:01 PM) :

Beautiful. She managed to make the dress look elegant. It could have been a disaster on someone else.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:02 PM) :

wow. I love her so much, this is not an easy look to pull off and she does it to perfection. Being beautiful and having a fantastic figure no doubt helps, but it is her confidence that does it. X

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:03 PM) :

Bold. Confident. All that. But not appropriate. I wonder about a personality that needs that much attention. Are there no limits? Maybe this is "fashion", but to me it's not style.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:04 PM) :

She has a great body and confidence for sure, but the outfit reeks of Britney Spears.

Anonymous Ana Magnolia said ... (1:02 PM) :

She's elegant, the lace is beatiful. Although I admire her courage, I think this is too much...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:10 PM) :

This is the best look I've seen on her!!

Her style is great, but in other photos she often looks stiff, underfed, & with bad posture-- too "social x-ray" to use Tom Wolfe's term.

Here she's got a playfulness going that screams joie de vivre rather than 'cigarettes and Tab.'

I love everything about this outfit except there are too many baubles going on for my taste. Keep the black necklace & the shades, and lose the rest.

It works well to have such a conservative cut, line, and length to the dress in contrast to the lace & lingerie.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:11 PM) :

It does work. My eyes were immediately captivated by the beautiful lace detail which reminded me of a dress at first. I didn't know until after!

It's bold so not everyone can work it but it's also very pretty and feminine for a balmy summer day too between pool jaunts...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:19 PM) :

I think this looks awful and she just looks a bit like a slave to fashion-you know, wearing "trendy" things as opposed to what actually looks good and suits her. Don't get me wrong though, I love Anna Dello Russo and this is the first time I've actually disliked her outfit.

Blogger loca said ... (3:21 PM) :

The modesty of the style of dress (length, collar, sleeves) is a total paradox to the revealing lace!

I love this contradiction and her confidence and perhaps humour in wearing it.

She is so aspirational!

Anonymous meg said ... (6:26 PM) :

I think the dress and glasses together look a bit silly, whereas each combined with something more classic would be stunning.

Still, she is a genuinely fabulous woman that doesn't fight her age, owns her image and never apologizes for either.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:37 PM) :

The sunglasses are too much. I'm usually in love with all the looks on this blog but this is bold accessorized with more bold and it's just overwhelming. I can however appreciate how happy and confident she looks.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:55 PM) :

Wonderful shot of her smile in motion as well as the dark/light of her with the man in the background. But WHY is she wearing that?

Anonymous Laurent said ... (7:25 PM) :

a body-defining lace dress will leave a permanent impression burned into the male brain! It has happened to me only a few times, this is one. My wife knows my jaw will drop when she emerges from her dressing room in a certain black one. If you have the shape for it it is marvelous. Perhaps a body stocking with this one, no?

Lovely lace. Nice figure.

But no.

(And no to the Elton John sunglasses too.)

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:58 PM) :

the dress is beautiful and there definitely could have been better ways to wear it. do think jewellery n shades could definitely have been better, and white underwear or a body suit might have been nicer. but this is still ok because first it is ok and second she is smiling and third she has a good body (that helps a lot). the picture reflects a moment where we look past certain aspects and still enjoy the overal aesthetic effect.

Blogger choppie said ... (9:07 PM) :

If she wore white inside it won't work. I guess that's what makes a fashionista differente from an ordinary women who tries to be one.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:24 PM) :

I love the print of the lace almost as much as I love her strength and confidence. I don't think this is an easy look to carry off but she does it with ease, confidence, and a smile.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:36 PM) :

She may be cool and all, but it looks like she's wearing a doily.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:57 PM) :

however, highly inappropriate for her age... tsk tsk tsk.. someone is trying a bit too hard...

You capture a moment like no other! Amazing.

Blogger Lavender said ... (11:10 PM) :

…..well, I remember way back in 1973 in my small suburban school in Toronto, I was sixteen and quite shocked when a decidedly sexy and inappropriately clad student sauntered down the corridor along to her next class in a black lace, form fitting, one piece jumpsuit with nothing more underneath than the same black bra and undies that Anna Dello Russo sports today under her pretty…but old hat…lace dress.

Lovely? Yes. Fun? Yes. Worthy of all the over the top exaltations of joy in your readers comments? Not really.

I think that the “merletto sul regipetto e mutantini” number required more confidence and bravado back then, 37 years ago, then on today’s "strade di Milano".

Just saying….(to coin a phrase from my daughter’s newspeak).

Blogger KC said ... (11:28 PM) :

i know she can be glamorous and daring and all that but there's something that makes me go a bit tired of her. maybe because she's been all over the web these days. and i agree with one of the earlier commenters. her outfit is not age-appropriate.

So bold, intricate, contrast of the black underwear against the white, the shades are awesome!

Love the motion but just because you can wear something, doesn't mean that you SHOULD.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:49 AM) :

Sorry, she doesn't look hot at all. she usually has a great style but here??? I think that's just trying toooo hard.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:03 AM) :

I can imagine this outfit on any number of the stunning women to be found in Port of Spain ( Trinidad)days prior to Carnival - hot.
By the same token the same dress on the same woman during lent ( straight after carnival) would prompt much opprobrium.

So as with much else it's as much about context as content.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:14 AM) :

the lace dress is lovely, her body is great but this truly a case of the clothes being a costume and a means of attention seeking. true confidence is wearing daring clothes that have depth and style rather than just shock value. The glasses and the black undergarments are what I expect from a 19 college dropout trying to "find" themselves not from a women who already knows herself.

What a mad outfit. The thing that makes it work so nicely is her grin.

Blogger BasicbutChic said ... (4:23 AM) :

The black and white association in this case is not the best one. Perhaps a little to classic I dont like the black underwear but the dress is great ! The sunglasses are not also the good ones. But she seems so happy so that's the most important !

I'm sorry but i think that this woman is not the embodiement of elegance, at least on this photo ! Just because her name is Anna Dello Russo everybody see in her a kind of fashion goddess.
Sometimes she may have style sometimes not.
Everybody is so enthusiastic about her style on this photo, and i really do not understand why !

I love your work & blog.

white lace dress, pink sunglasses & black underwear??? i cant’t think of anyone who could rock this combination the way Anna Dello Russo has rocked it!!!

Blogger the nyanzi report said ... (8:52 AM) :

One of the true fashion icons of today.
Great shot.

Blogger V said ... (9:06 AM) :

I wanna grow up to be Anna. Either Anna Wintour or Anna Della Russo, they are both fabulous~!!

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:29 AM) :

Wow. I love this lace dress.

Blogger Eugenia Woods said ... (9:39 AM) :

uhm i dont really like the dress , nice pic tho

Blogger Brittany & Cassie said ... (11:10 AM) :

Oh please, I know, the dress is great...amazing! but it's the second or the third time that she wears the same outfit (obvuisly with a different dress, diffrent underwear and different shoes) anyway the idea is the same, and it's boring.

to me ana has a great and a unique sense of style, but...even being thin she's not young anymore neither a beautiful woman. so i really dislike this kind of look on her.

but the photo is stunnig, as ever...

Blogger Nee-Cee said ... (11:39 AM) :

I'm stunned. She's far from amazing. I don't think that there are words for something that fantastic.

Blogger Orellie said ... (11:56 AM) :

jack, i dont like that dress is awful...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:30 PM) :

I do not find the dressing very tasteful especially for her age... Perhaps the dress should stick to the bedroom.

Blogger LadyNoir said ... (12:45 PM) :

LIKE the dress:):)

Too much attention seeking. the smaller the style and substance, the louder the needed statement. Q.E.D.

What a stunning body. The lace dress is so sophisticated yet sexy. Lose the glasses, though.

Blogger klandesteen said ... (2:24 PM) :

My admiration for Anna and lace is the epitome of this shot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:37 PM) :

she's like a Barbie! xx

Anonymous mabelmabel said ... (2:39 PM) :

I want to say to her, "Please, dear. You needn't put yourself on display this way." Needy.

Blogger A FRIED POTATO said ... (3:53 PM) :

just divane.

Anonymous kelli said ... (4:50 PM) :

I would have been more excited about this look, if she had chosen different accessories.

Anonymous Kelly said ... (5:02 PM) :

Love that she can pull off the daring dress, love the shoes/bag, love the confidence.

But the other accessories are out of whack. The necklaces and earrings look random and cheap. At first glance I liked the sunglasses just because they're unusual, but paired with this dress.... meh.

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:35 PM) :

This is definitely a winner. As I sit in a coffee shop in LA, I am noticing more and more lace in even the casual attire of ladies. I think Ms. Russo owns this look which transcends geographical boundaries. Lace is the new black!

Blogger z said ... (7:04 PM) :

i LOVE anna dello russo.

Blogger kendal croix. said ... (7:09 PM) :

gotta love the lace.

Blogger kukla said ... (7:16 PM) :

I do not like this at all. Totally useless. Entertainment for the masses. Romans said: "...bread and entertainment".

INCREDIBLE!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:46 PM) :

It's nice she's enjoying herself but I'm bothered by her not understanding that the context for this outfit is really askew. This is a long, long way from sequins in daytime or evening shorts. There's something sadly bipolar about it...others have mentioned Gaga and Spears...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:27 PM) :

FASHION not style.

Anonymous cociolph said ... (8:34 PM) :

I like the glasses, the shoes and the purse. The bikini and gigantic doily cover-up are just plain fugly.

I wonder if the comments about this outfit would be quite so adoring if the wearer were an unknown pedestrian, and not a fashion-industry power broker.

Blogger A or M said ... (9:30 PM) :

totally crazy, but nice

Blogger Margo said ... (9:37 PM) :

a beautiful dress and a beautiful woman - she's always interesting, but I don't like how it's worn in this instance.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:49 PM) :

Wonder ful photo, beautiful woman, great dress. That said, the look is "too editorial" for mid-day in the city.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:03 PM) :

Tacky! Great picture!!!
