I love the playfulness in this shot! You've captured everything people love about summer, the flowy skirt, the sunshine, gorgeous!

Blogger BrooklynBlonde said ... (9:37 AM) :

Awww, a Brooklyn shot! I love it. She looks great!

Blogger agata said ... (9:37 AM) :

oh, how amazing! such an effortless yet perfect look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:39 AM) :

This is interesting to me. The overall impression is young, carefree, relaxed, happy but individually there is nothing in this "look" that I like.... Funny how fashion works!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:39 AM) :

Anybody know what brand the sandals she's wearing is?

Anonymous amilee said ... (9:39 AM) :

jolie, but I don't like her stance.

Blogger Sarah Dee said ... (9:40 AM) :

I love her whole outfit! especially the top ;)

Anonymous Sandra said ... (9:40 AM) :

It is a beautiful and original outfit!

Blogger TransCultureGirl said ... (9:41 AM) :

The best part is how natural she is in this photo and her pale skin is beautiful! The thin belt is a nice touch.

Anonymous Bobby & Garrett said ... (9:41 AM) :

First and love it! I'm in Prague right now and she looks like a lot of gals here. Just gorgeous!

Blogger mustownmore said ... (9:42 AM) :

Super cute and fresh. I love how the whole outfit could be worn any time in the last 30 years - all the pieces are timeless in that sense.

Anonymous PinothyJ said ... (9:43 AM) :

Wow, she really is beautiful! It is funny how a picture of one woman could capture the feel of the summer month over there in the States.

Keep up the lovely work.

Blogger STREETFSN said ... (9:44 AM) :

I love it so much!!!!

Blogger Claudia Cifuentes said ... (9:46 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:46 AM) :

So cute. Love her stance and sandals.

Blogger FaceySarah said ... (9:52 AM) :

At first, I didn't even notice the clothes. The way the girl carries herself is what I love most about this photo.

Anonymous Becca said ... (9:52 AM) :

She's adorable and I love that she's standing in tree-pose!

Blogger mm said ... (9:54 AM) :

I love how she combines elements (such as the prints of the skirt and top) that could easily seem tired and old and wears them in a completely fresh and youthful way. The volume and length of the skirt maintain a playful feel thanks to her bare midriff and off-kilter belt.

Blogger Barbara von Enger said ... (9:56 AM) :

AH, what a happy, smiling, joyous girl! This picture says - "I'm embracing Life so miraculously"....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:57 AM) :

I love it on a girl this age.

This same outfit can also be seen at a flea market in PA, worn by a slightly overweight retiree with swelling feet.

Blogger sarah said ... (9:59 AM) :

so relaxed and happy and confident.

Anonymous Rose said ... (10:02 AM) :

Very fresh !

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:03 AM) :

mmmmmmmmm !!!! DELICIOUS !!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:04 AM) :

This is a great outfit: young, fresh, and playful. Her personality is captured as well, which makes this outfit perfect on her whereas it might not be quite so perfect on someone else. Great shoe choice!

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:10 AM) :

I adore this outfit--she's so fresh and beautiful!

Blogger Vinda Sonata said ... (10:11 AM) :

i love her style. she's a beauty, too!

Blogger Leslie said ... (10:29 AM) :

Anonymous is sort of right, which really is interesting and true about fashion: one outfit can be adorable on someone (like here) but that doesn't mean and can be worn by another person with same results. It's not just age, but attitude, body type, confidence (I don't care how gorgeous you are, if you feel uncomfortable it won't work). Anyway, she's very sweet.

Blogger P said ... (10:39 AM) :

oh I love this! it reminds me of the carefree spirit in europe and everything but a city, gorgeous!

Blogger AlwaysMe said ... (10:40 AM) :

Love the attitude. Hate the outfit. I guess I am your only detractor today.

Blogger BRUNETTE BRAID said ... (10:45 AM) :

woow!! such a great combination! :D
I adore the boho look!!!

Blogger Ryan Baldwin said ... (10:45 AM) :

I think I just fell in love. How could you not want to go out for wine and a light meal with this lady? Beautifully dressed, fun loving smile, playful pose. She radiates.

kisses :)

Blogger Kathleen said ... (11:19 AM) :

She is so very beautiful, healthy, adorable!. I love her playful mix of pattern and print, very well done. Nice accessories too. Makes me want to hop a plane to NYC and stay for a week or two, but every time I come for a visit I never want to go home.

Blogger nina polli said ... (11:29 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:29 AM) :

Such a fun pose!

Blogger Ray said ... (11:31 AM) :

So cute:))

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:36 AM) :

I like this, the floral top with the polka dot skirt. I really like the sandals, they look like something I've never seen before. The skinny belt makes it. And her attitude, which is what fashion is all about.

Blogger Stacy said ... (11:41 AM) :

I love her sassy attitude!

Blogger anthony said ... (11:51 AM) :

Oh my goodness, I am censoring my eyes. She plays some kind of sport. Her arms are slender but her calves are strong. She wraps herself beautifully in and around her outfit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:53 AM) :

If you told me this girls is 16 I would believe it, and be glad that she's not too prim, but still cute, fresh and girlish. Unlike the other one.

Blogger Emma said ... (12:00 PM) :

Love the pose, she looks so happy, I love it!

Blogger fika said ... (12:02 PM) :

So beautiful! Very refreshing. Make up, clothes, smile. Lovely!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:09 PM) :

very cute, i love that skirt.
but leather shoes are not okay.
you would think that someone who tries so hard to look like a hippy would be more eco friendly

Anonymous Dear Jet Lag said ... (12:09 PM) :

Blissful! Rarely captured are shots that have both great style and great attitude!

Blogger FASHION SNAG said ... (12:14 PM) :

Cute, comfy, and loving the print mixing.

Anonymous Laila said ... (12:21 PM) :

I love that you're photographing in Brooklyn, and venturing out of just Manhattan.

Aside from that, LOVE THIS! She carries the outfit well and makes it with her disposition and carefree aura. Very cute.

Blogger crayonswithwings said ... (12:23 PM) :

ohhhh my goodness, i want her shirt SO BAD. it's beautiful with her outfit. like a little faerie going on a horse-riding adventure, or something exciting.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:29 PM) :

Love to see more shots of stylish women wearing flats. I grew up in those shoes. They are called Saltwater Sandals ( I especially like the way she uses the brown shoes with the black skirt and top.

The one thing I don't like is the unanchored belt. It seems lost and looks uncomfortable to me.

Blogger puderfee said ... (12:29 PM) :

Oh what a pretty, casual and airy outfit .. love it! :)

Anonymous sexyetsy said ... (12:30 PM) :

let's face it, she could be wearing just about anything (aside from a burqa) & look AMAZING.

keep up the good work...

Blogger Susanna-Cole King said ... (12:33 PM) :

This looks like an immensely easy, comfortable, summer ensemble, while still being fresh and beautiful!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:44 PM) :

I love the mix of patterns, and her fair skins goes so well with the colors.

Blogger bravegrrl said ... (12:46 PM) :

Blogger Roya said ... (12:53 PM) :

She is too cute.

(Also, I kind of see a resemblance to Renee Zellweger, correct me if I'm wrong...)

Anonymous Best of Beehive said ... (12:56 PM) :

I think I love her more than I love the outfit. But really, it's a nice way to show some tummy without it being trashy or too much.

Blogger Ripped Jeans said ... (1:23 PM) :

sooo cute!

Blogger Misanthropic Pulp said ... (1:29 PM) :

Fresh and beautiful, love it!

Blogger Peter said ... (1:33 PM) :

I'm not sure I'm a fan of what she's wearing, but I love that her lanyard matches her belt. So small, maybe not even thought about, but so significant!

Anonymous Stephanie said ... (1:38 PM) :

lovely outfit & she looks really cute! Her smile is really beautiful :]

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:40 PM) :

Cute. Nothing like street wear fashion.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:47 PM) :

She's adorable but the sandals are unforgivable. They must be burned immediately, their ashes deposited in an old mayonnaise jar, and buried at Fresh Kills Landfill so that they can never hurt anyone again.

Blogger Erica said ... (2:00 PM) :

She wears her carefree attitude so well. (Also like how even the ribbon on her keys matches the rest of her outfit palette)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:01 PM) :

I love standing like that! Have only found one other person who does it, now her ^^

Blogger Gary said ... (2:10 PM) :

Nice attitude, nice shoes, nice clothes, nice weather, nice smile, in a word : this girl looks nice !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:11 PM) :

Now THAT is how to dress for Summer!

Blogger Isquisofrenia said ... (2:24 PM) :

awesome outfit pretty laid back but very lovely and chic
shes gorgeous!

Anonymous Laurent said ... (2:28 PM) :

Soft, flimsy, sexy look! Killer smile to melt hearts. Beautiful skin, stay out of the sun,and wear sunscreen, you'll never regret it. Perhaps a lighter color skirt, but... whatever, its adorable.

Blogger V.V. said ... (2:35 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:35 PM) :

Oh and the faux cartridge on her key chain that's nearly the size of her thumb makes me smile too. Hurray for a pale skin girl with a relaxed and classic style. She reminds me of my mum. KH

Blogger MartaPalczewska said ... (3:51 PM) :

I like it!

Blogger Pam said ... (3:51 PM) :

I'm laughing at the discussion of her sandals -- they're a classic American childhood staple -- saltwater sandals. They do come in adult sizes, and haven't changed (other than in color) since before *I* was born. You can get them lots of places, from Basin Department store (my local outlet) to Nordstrom & of course, here:

Blogger Natália Dutra said ... (3:59 PM) :

Blogger FBJ said ... (4:58 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:03 PM) :

She is like a model :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:55 PM) :

Yikes, I hate to be disagreeable but I think this outfit looks messy and shapeless. She's a pretty girl but it does her no favors. It's very vanilla and blah.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:31 PM) :

wow, her clothes look stick on, in a good way :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:38 PM) :

One day I shall raid her closet...
Help: Who makes her shirt? Who makes her skirt? Who makes her sandals and belt? Who makes her smile?

I love it very much. So cute! :)=

Blogger Stylison said ... (9:55 PM) :

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:17 PM) :

It's her pose that strikes me; well that an the light air of the photo mirrored in her face. Was that the first pose she struck?

Anonymous Meera said ... (12:47 AM) :

She really carries off this look. Gorgeous!

Anonymous Sammy Sam said ... (1:12 AM) :

Her personality makes the outfit - if it was anyone else wearing it I'd think they were part of the 'eccentric' population in nyc you always seem to find dancing in front of street performers...

Anonymous foshoko said ... (1:40 AM) :

saltwater sandals!!!! i grew up wearing those--as a kid i called them saltwater taffys :) to me, they are the epitome of summer, a new pair signaling the beginning of a season spent at the beach, the lake, and running around outside. and here they are, all grown up but just as sweet...! thanks for the bit of nostalgia...

Absolutely one of my favourite looks on almost any girl. Particularly enjoying the belt-not-actually-on-the-skirt.

Blogger hotstudsvintage said ... (3:48 AM) :

such a refreshing outfit.

Blogger viejecita said ... (4:08 AM) :

Lovely girl, great skin and colouring, nice clothes, amusing tongue in cheek pose,
and perfect background.
As I said before, I would love for you to have a page with cities, and buildings, and neighborhoods, and streets, as a sideline.
Your portraits of Manhattan, of Brooklyn, of Florence, of Milan, of Paris, are just as great as the portraits of people (children and old especially), and of the clothes they wear.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:26 AM) :

isn't she lovely... what I particularly like about her style is that it is so timeless. This picture could have been taken somewhen between the sixties and today, and still it is enchanting.

Blogger Shoestring Traveler said ... (2:37 PM) :

Those Saltwater sandals take me back to when I was little! Lovely picture, great photo subject.

For those who asked, the sandals are Saltwaters, an inexpensive brand that's been around for decades and named that because you can wear them in the ocean and not hurt the leather. My mom used to buy them for me at Nordstrom two decades ago.

Anonymous cee said ... (9:45 PM) :

love; so adorable and freespirited!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:28 PM) :

She's cute but to my eye the clothes remind me too much of the late 80's suburban rayon/slob look. I lived amongst it so its harder for me to accept it, however 'vintage' it may be. But maybe part of the appeal of this picture is the contrast; it reminds us inner beauty supersedes all and is the best style asset one can have.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:01 AM) :

a bit overdone, no?

My daughter struck a similar pose for Martha Stewart Living magazine four years ago and I am happy to report she made her way to Brooklyn yesterday from Connecticut to visit her cousins. I don't know what she packed for the trip or whether she'll be snapped again. But thanks reminding me.

Blogger NVA said ... (8:27 AM) :

she does yoga...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:39 AM) :

the sandals are inspired - very early 50's ( or earlier) cornwall bohemian if she's just left her sketchbook and watercolours back in her tent. Hadn't heard of saltwater - now off to have a look so thanks...
