great the hint of blue

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:34 AM) :

Incredible layering and mix of patterns. Great color palette...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:37 AM) :

Indeed. The blue gives it the Sartorial effect.

Blogger Hawa said ... (7:38 AM) :

i love that in theory this is a classic...but there is something so edgy and alternative to it in practice

Blogger Beverly. said ... (7:40 AM) :

Very distinguished-looking gentleman. I like the double-breasted suit.

Blogger Unknown said ... (7:40 AM) :

What an outstanding outfit!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:55 AM) :

winter wins over summer

Blogger Xanela Chic said ... (7:57 AM) :

Il cabalieri... I love him...

Blogger Unknown said ... (7:58 AM) :

...that touch of blue breaks the texture pallette created by all those wonderful grays!

Blogger Emilie said ... (8:02 AM) :

So chic!

Blogger J.A.F. said ... (8:07 AM) :

Blogger Diane said ... (8:27 AM) :

Great taste in ensambleing clothes together!

Talk about male layering :P

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:33 AM) :

Lovely outfit that totally transforms a normal man into a gentleman! My boyfriend has a similar suit from U-NI-TY, a French brand. The only thing that is missing is a hat. A man always looks better with a good hat! =)

Blogger what dia like said ... (8:39 AM) :

l'italien dans toute sa splendeur, la classe.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:40 AM) :

Hi, I am in Florence just for today and wondered if you were still going to do the signing tonight at Luisa Via Roma - would love to come if you are!

Anonymous Marco said ... (8:40 AM) :

The gloves in the pocket of the coat...

Blogger mette said ... (8:43 AM) :

Although everything mixes and matches perfectly, the grays in his hair and beard along with the clothes.. I still think this is a bit too much, the look is too textured. Maybe a shorter haircut, maybe the beard needs a trim?

Blogger RJ said ... (8:48 AM) :

Anonymous Isobel Saoirse said ... (8:48 AM) :

Love that dress! So fitted and so gorgeous!

Anonymous giorgia said ... (8:49 AM) :

It's not cool, it's just classy, which in my book is miles better than being "cool". :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:52 AM) :

YES!!! A return to form my man.

Anonymous Kalliste.. said ... (8:52 AM) :

Blogger Jessica Thor-Miller said ... (8:59 AM) :

Classic and yet, he looks incredibly modern. Sometimes people take classic to an extreme where it becomes costume-like. He's just a natural.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:00 AM) :

He looks exactly like a “Ken”-doll I had as a kid, the same beard and everything. I loved the way that doll looked, and I love the way the real-life version looks.

Blogger Bex said ... (9:07 AM) :

Ooooh! Very attractive!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:08 AM) :

Great use of textures and color scheme. He's dressed up yet looks so comfortable and casual at the same time, love that.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:08 AM) :

What a dashing man!

Blogger Mr Brown said ... (9:16 AM) :

More gloves in top pockets please.

Anonymous Samantha Kate said ... (9:24 AM) :

The lines on the walls, the steps and the check of his suit are all making me dizzy. Talk about structural....

Anonymous Anthony said ... (9:32 AM) :

Mountain man in a suit is where it's at.

Blogger said ... (9:33 AM) :

Looks like the owner of the "Tie your tie" shop in Florence. I saw a couple just like Scott and Garance shopping there yesterday in the afternoon, so maybe they were really Scott and Garance. By the way, Garance's shoes yesterday were really good ;-)

Blogger Carlos Alberto Silva said ... (9:34 AM) :

Anonymous K said ... (9:34 AM) :

Ahh! one of my favorite men in this blog :)))

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:37 AM) :

Blogger The Fashionalist said ... (9:39 AM) :

Blogger dominicandandy said ... (9:48 AM) :

Classic, just the right amount of sprezzatura!

Anonymous Miss Therese said ... (9:53 AM) :

I love that he looks so dashing, and yet his beard looks like it is growing all willy nilly. His look says Je m'en fiche!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:21 AM) :

scott, i always enjoy your italy pictures, especially Florence. its my favorite city and the men there are so stylish and handsome. gratzie mille for sharing your travels with the rest of us:)

Anonymous Ranfagni Gioielli Firenze said ... (10:22 AM) :

eleganza forever !!
Great Mr.Simon

Blogger Klever Girl said ... (10:29 AM) :

I agree, the hint of blue is perfect to give this suit an update from the pleated pants and 4-button cross over.... looks great like this.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:30 AM) :

OMG, he looks like my Swiss shrink!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:34 AM) :

It's a beautiful suit - but in combination with the overcoat the result is too busy and heavy for my taste.

Anonymous Joe said ... (10:35 AM) :

It might look like it's a lot going on, but one of a kind. Not pretentious at all. Like "I like this, and going to wear it to my liking". Well done.

Blogger Ricardo said ... (10:53 AM) :

Cool. I love this Italian style that you can recognize everywhere you see it. Stylish, distinguish, but less stressed than English people (that I also love).
looks like Italian people would live into fashion.

Very nice pic, by the way.

Blogger Megui said ... (11:03 AM) :

i love the coat and the 4-buttoned blazer (never really knew how to call these kind of blazers in english).

Blogger Ljubica said ... (11:21 AM) :

wow is all i have to say.

Blogger Simo said ... (11:32 AM) :

Tres chic
Rien a dire...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:35 AM) :

Blogger Lisa Petrarca said ... (11:35 AM) :

Very this his how a man should age!

Have a wonderful day! For me it's about starting fresh..YAY!

Blogger G K Stegall said ... (11:40 AM) :

What tricky sophistication this is! The similarity between the suit pattern and the overcoat pattern winks at you before rounding the corner and being lost to the difference between their colors and textures. The scarf and tie work cooperate to create a deeper sense of unity in the ensemble, while the blue vest(?) peeks out with a sultry contrast.

All in all, I wish this dapper man were my grandfather and we would go out for breakfast every Thursday morning at the cafe four blocks over.

Blogger Soren Lorensen said ... (11:47 AM) :

I have melted

Blogger hi-d said ... (11:52 AM) :

Very nice!

Blogger mrcarminati said ... (12:06 PM) :

very classy

Blogger Bob Spears said ... (12:15 PM) :

Super photo. Nice use of depth of field and the horizontal lines on the left and right push the subject right to the front. His outfit is great. As others have already said the hint of blue is perfect. I like the four in hand knot in the tie. It adds a touch of rakishness to the whole look. His pose is spot on.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:34 PM) :

he looks so handsome... stylish without being trendy.

Anonymous lucia said ... (12:43 PM) :

i love the co-ordination between the scarf and the tie
but as many people pointed out, i feel like its the hint of blue that pulls it together
without the blue sweater, i feel that the brown scarf, brown tie, and grey suit would look drab--especially the tie and scarf, i feel it would look just too sloppy and it would just make the suit melt in grey and brown
the blue really accentuates everything, but its subtle one hardly notices--on first glance there is something that just looks right.
by the way, i love his coat as well. it kind of blends into the suit, but the texture is a little chunkier giving it some distinction, and it appears to be a warmer smoky grey. brilliant co-ordination. its not kooky, or avante-garde, its just a clean, timeless suit any gentleman should be able to pull together from his closet, and if he cant then his closet is not complete.

Blogger Vinda Sonata said ... (12:44 PM) :

superb photography and nice outfit combination. i really like seeing very classy men in classic outfits.

Blogger moreskinnydays said ... (12:50 PM) :

Ahhh yes. Quite the reason I do read the blog, isn't it?

Blogger Style Realist said ... (12:52 PM) :

a lot of depth in this outfit...he looks great...

Anonymous Claudia said ... (2:21 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:27 PM) :

love simone's style but please take more photos of young guys if you can because a) i can't AFFORD to dress like simone and b) i couldn't pull off this look at my age (25).

Blogger alastair said ... (2:31 PM) :

There's a lot going on, but I think he keeps it under control and pulls it off ewll.

All I have to say is he needs to sort his beard out! With his face he needs to either do the whole face or none at all! Very hard to make a goatee look good and unfortunately not even this chap can.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:41 PM) :

i like Pitti baby

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:45 PM) :

So glad to see you back to shooting

Anonymous Gianni3000 said ... (2:58 PM) :

Tie Your Tie. Always classy, Simone!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:02 PM) :

Dear Scott,

Great to see such a rugged looking man in such a refined suit...
I disagree with Metscan I think to put different elements together shows a fearlessness...

Blogger kimricosays said ... (3:08 PM) :

concur with all the comments in regards to the layering of the patterns in this picture.

drips in confidence as well.

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:09 PM) :

The best picture and best guy to introduce Pitti Uomo this year! Very elegant.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:11 PM) :

You have sooooo many old, classy European looking dudes on this blog. They're all starting to run together in my mind. I like the hint of blue amidst all that brown. Did he dye his hair brown too? That beard is in no way matching.

Blogger Dennice {Fringe} said ... (3:24 PM) :

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Nothing is sexier than a man in a beautiful suit.

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:27 PM) :

"Fashion is fleeting, but style is eternal."
Oh so appropriate here.

Blogger theversastyle said ... (3:36 PM) :

so perfectly polished.

Blogger FASHION SNAG said ... (3:40 PM) :

Wow, he is handsome. I love his suit and coat. Gorgeous!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:47 PM) :

I'm italian and this man's style represents everything I don't like of "italian attitude"...The Godfather's stereotype.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:05 PM) :

Dandy. The beard doesn´t hurt either.

Blogger Miriam Parkman said ... (4:06 PM) :

Such a relief to finally see a man in a proper suit. Thank you.

Blogger Alice said ... (4:12 PM) :

Classic, elegant..This is a very attractive man..

Blogger LuisPisPis said ... (5:07 PM) :

Blogger Unknown said ... (7:34 PM) :

looveeee the suit

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:57 PM) :

I don't think I've seen a double breasted Prince of Wales check suit look that good before.

Blogger Caroline said ... (8:23 PM) :

la fortezza?? che bello

Anonymous ADJ said ... (9:16 PM) :

wow. distinguished takes on a whole new meaning.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:51 PM) :

la bella figura...gotta love italians!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:40 PM) :

one of your best shots. i love those lines in the background. beautiful suit as well.

Anonymous Aloysious said ... (10:43 PM) :

I,ve been rocking the DB suit now and then myself for the last couple of years, and this is a nice reminder of why. DBs need a sense of maturity to really pull it off, without looking like fashion. This guy looks so at home in this outfit, you just know he didn't buy it all yesterday. If I saw him in the street I'd wonder what he does dressed so dapper.

Anonymous m.edwin said ... (11:09 PM) :

this guy's a show stopper. that blue cardigan is a nice accent.

Blogger Toots said ... (2:31 AM) :

Yay! Simone! The pictures of him in your book are some of my favourites. He always looks fantastic and has a real warmth. The suit is beautiful - love that hint of blue!

Anonymous Stephan Pockrandt said ... (3:09 AM) :

This is still a stunning classic!

Blogger brendan stampley said ... (4:40 AM) :

very casual, yet sophisticated.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:12 AM) :

my impression: too many layers, too much cloth

Anonymous ododo said ... (5:30 AM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:46 AM) :

I like the mix of fabrics but it appears the whole outfit is outdated

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:10 PM) :

double breasted suit and a double breasted overcoat (i'm assuming that based on the peaked lapels and sheer bulk of it) thats baller! the simplicity of the tie, shirt, sweater, and scarf allow you to fully contemplate the way those plaid checks wrap around his body showing off the tailoring with grid-like precision. but what shoes is he wearing? other photos frequently show him in contrasting kicks, if so i can imagine they would help stabilize the look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:11 PM) :

He makes me think of a modern Cavalier--the swept-back coat, the excellent beard, the ready-to-take-on-the-world look in his eye...

Anonymous °°matias°° said ... (6:46 AM) :

Simone - simple masculine chic - along with Luca Rubinacci and Milan Vukmirovic (by the way, when will we see some more of him??) my favorite recurring "model" in your blog... bravo scott!

Blogger Tea with Edith said ... (8:01 AM) :

He manage to pull off a jacket and pants in the same pattern, it´s quite remarkable.

Blogger anthony said ... (8:50 AM) :

Blogger Andre Gorr said ... (2:16 PM) :

I wish i could dress like Simone for everyday life(can afford and put it off, and look my best), but I will look OVERDRESSED for my workplace(design firm)...
we here in North America are dressed TOO casual...

Blogger Dila's Favorites said ... (2:53 PM) :

Blogger Matteo said ... (5:51 PM) :

This is how a gentleman should be dressed, this is that I intend for elegance! I have been from Tie Your Tie really today !I have spent the whole evening to try me the new suits
thanks still uncle Simone

sorry guys, couldn't help myself. Excellent suit...That is how a man should carry himself.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:12 PM) :
