Blogger Unknown said ... (8:14 AM) :

Now that can't be easy to iron! Reminds me of the Louboutin rollerball flats.

Anonymous 2cutevintage said ... (8:24 AM) :

There is a raging punk hidden somewhere beneath that boys proffessional exterior. Like a rocking Clark Kent.

Blogger Soren Lorensen said ... (8:25 AM) :

I have that same lime green notebook!

Blogger TheresaT said ... (8:25 AM) :

I don't like the pants.
would be good if he wears something tight.

Blogger Kat said ... (8:28 AM) :

cool detail! unexpected and fun..

Blogger Laura said ... (8:32 AM) :

This is amazing. I love the nonchalance of one collar tucked under and the other folded over.

Blogger IAMTHEANGELNEGRO said ... (8:32 AM) :

Blogger Mo said ... (8:34 AM) :

I would have chosen a sweater with a lower neckline for a shirt with such interesting collar.

Blogger Elle said ... (8:38 AM) :

What an interesting look.. At first glance it's very plain and almost studious and then you notice those studs and they add an unexpected edge to the look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:45 AM) :

Just fantastic! Such a nice detail!

Blogger pRiyA said ... (8:53 AM) :

now that's style! i love that there is just that hint of the studded collar.

Anonymous robert m said ... (8:54 AM) :

looks ill at ease or totally comfortable with himself. a very strange affectation with the collar, which cannot decide whether it wants to be in or out.

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:54 AM) :

Loving the colour and texture of his sweater! The light is great, and this yellow notebook is just perfect here.

Anonymous Indie Mom and the Reluctant Banker said ... (8:56 AM) :

Like the colour and texture of the sweater.

Blogger agatiszka said ... (8:56 AM) :

It looks great!!

Blogger Sophisticated Misfit said ... (8:57 AM) :

nah... too reminiscent of a collar usually found on a great dane. it doesn't make sense. you don't see great danes going around with button downs, do you? fantastic colour on the thin pull-over though. I have the very same and that's why it's fantastic.

Blogger WILDFLOWER said ... (8:58 AM) :

This looks great...quite enjoying the colour of his knit top too, it softens the studding.

Blogger The Model Burnbook said ... (8:59 AM) :

Philip Lim, luh dat.

Blogger sofiasophie said ... (9:01 AM) :

love the detail, and he wears it with such class, naturel et discrétion....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:05 AM) :

This is brilliant! Love it!

Anonymous julia said ... (9:11 AM) :

wow, i love that. especially the casual look of the outfit and how the studded collar kind of says fu to dresscodes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:11 AM) :

dislike this personally, looks so tacky

Blogger Carlos Alberto Silva said ... (9:13 AM) :

His shirt is fantastic, it reminds me of a Prada jacket from the A/W 09 collection.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:15 AM) :

totally unexpected.didnt even see it til i read the title. subtle and well done in that case

Blogger Lu said ... (9:20 AM) :

omg, the detail! at first you don't notice, but then... a beast inside! )

Blogger Avril said ... (9:21 AM) :

Blogger Tiffany Marie said ... (9:26 AM) :

Very cool and innovative idea i may have to borrow it hehehehehe

Blogger Lions, Tigers and Fashion OH MY! said ... (9:37 AM) :

Blogger Susan said ... (9:52 AM) :

Great DIY idea! Add some studs to your look!!

Blogger Gon said ... (10:08 AM) :

Such a cool idea!! HA!

Anonymous Martin said ... (10:22 AM) :

Yes! Why not.

Anonymous dale said ... (10:26 AM) :

This is super simple, but super effective. I like the softness of his sweater against the studs on his collar, and how his notebooks seem to be part of the whole mix. Nice look!

Blogger The Bambina said ... (10:33 AM) :

It's like "Wooow" when you see it. I like.

Blogger kahartland said ... (10:42 AM) :

plain, but the collar adds a little sumthin..

Blogger Flora Márquez said ... (10:56 AM) :

Blogger Dream Sequins said ... (11:27 AM) :

Copping this for my own subversive office chic ensemble.

Anonymous The Photodiarist said ... (11:27 AM) :

What a fantastic, over the top, yet sophisticated detail. You notice some wonderful things.

Blogger Susie said ... (11:30 AM) :

Hmm I'm a bit surprised someone above said "tacky". To me a great unexpected detail. I love his sweater, now that is sophisticated looking and those studs... its a little peek at what is lurking under that classical exterior.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:37 AM) :

I DIY this last year to white shirt.Great way to change plain white shirt.

Anonymous all-in-the-silhouette said ... (11:38 AM) :

Interesting embellishment.

I have used those fabulous strips of snaps, and tiny, multiple buttons as decorative material, but I haven't seen studs used in this way...except on a dog collar!

Simple as his clothes are, there are subtle details that make me think he is a designer.

Blogger Thomas said ... (11:38 AM) :

I'm still thinking about this one...

Anonymous Lillian said ... (11:48 AM) :

I guess that's one way to keep the kids from 'popping' their collars!

The hint of it is perfect, not overdone.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:55 AM) :

wonderful. wonderfulwonderful wonderful! makes me want to do it RIGHT NOW to a shirt.

Blogger Celia said ... (12:05 PM) :

punk. rock.

Blogger Ljubica said ... (12:28 PM) :

very cool detail

Blogger Bookworm said ... (12:33 PM) :

I love it! It totally adds pizzazz (:

Blogger Katarina Kühl ~ PencilFashion said ... (12:38 PM) :

what a great idea!

Anonymous Maranda said ... (1:20 PM) :

I like it. Adds some sparkle, like a necklace but not a necklace.

Anonymous minor keys said ... (1:30 PM) :

a great look; he wears the collar with such aplomb. Love the half-in, half-out. He looks quite natural, not the slightest bit pretentious or "trendy," with such a trendy addition. Somehow I like the studs here.

Blogger M3 said ... (1:57 PM) :

Loved the studded collar shirt, But he should have pick a 'V' collar sweater, In my opinion.. The total look is cool.

Blogger SarahELizand said ... (2:44 PM) :

Wow such an awesome collar, would have never thought to stud a collar. :) I love the texture on the brown shirt.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:51 PM) :

no sure what i think about the studded collar. kudos for being bold enough to wear it though ... i like what someone said earlier about him being like clark kent. bet he's got an inner rocker in him!

Blogger Laudably Chic said ... (3:04 PM) :

homemade or handmade? I say homemade! ha

Blogger Marcelle said ... (3:11 PM) :

This shirt rocks!!! I LOVE his laid back "what it's just a shirt" attitude.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:15 PM) :

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:22 PM) :

this is SO cool.

NYC street fashion photos

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:18 PM) :

That's Jason Rider from NY Times. So classic and smart.

Blogger Lorena said ... (4:26 PM) :

I remember Alexa Chung wearing the same studded shirt and it looking very different on her. I think I like it better without the sweater over top, or maybe if he wore it less sloppily. I do like the color of his sweater though.

Blogger X said ... (4:55 PM) :

Laura: " I love the nonchalance of one collar tucked under and the other folded over." That is exactly what I was going to say.

I love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:14 PM) :

love, love, love it !! a bit of fun

Anonymous Dani said ... (5:14 PM) :

that is pretty cool and i almost didn't notice :)

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:24 PM) :

Love the texture of the sweater. Studs on the collar? I'd never wear it, but he seems to be enjoying himself...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:34 PM) :

Love it!!! Such a fantastic little detail!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:40 PM) :

He needs a wristwatch!

Blogger Marie El. said ... (5:56 PM) :

oh so prada!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:15 PM) :

could that be another design student with the moleskine notebook?

Blogger Sarah B said ... (6:52 PM) :

not crazy about it...a little too disheveled for my taste. I don't like the way half his collar is hiding underneath his sweater.

Blogger Style Realist said ... (7:13 PM) :

awesome detail...offers a glimpse into his alter ego...

Blogger Donna Camacho said ... (7:23 PM) :

I really like it. Maybe I'll studd one of my collars. Perhaps I should invest in a "beddazler" too hahaha

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:35 PM) :

Awesome! I love this detail! The rest is meh, but the collar makes it!

Blogger JoyMarie said ... (7:58 PM) :

I love it! Amazing and inspiring. This simple detail is so subtle and visually in-cohesive with the rest of his ensemble that the studs on his collar make his outfit intersting. Without them he would look like he stepped out of a Gap commercial.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:03 PM) :

I had a blouse with a similar collar in the 80's , could it be that pulled the wrong white shirt out of the dryer while rushing about one late morning?

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:23 PM) :

Statement piece.

Anonymous John M. Doyle said ... (9:42 PM) :

There are a few bars in Berlin and Amsterdam I know of where that collar would be highly appreciated, otherwise it is any laundry's nightmare, and (no doubt) not TSA friendly. As for the color, could he have intentionally tried to find one that would make him more invisible, I can't imagine where he would have looked. Interesting, but no thank you.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:44 PM) :

Love it!! So fantastic. The lime green notebook is pretty awesome too.

Anonymous l, williams said ... (9:49 PM) :

so simple. so amazing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:59 PM) :

Naughty little twist to an otherwise well-behaved outfit. Love.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:03 PM) :

details are everything!japanese have a great taste, everytime.

Blogger sweet.hereafter said ... (10:20 PM) :

Love these little details that force you to take a closer look. Great pic!

Blogger elsie said ... (10:20 PM) :

so THAT'S where the "Bedazzler" went!! Looks oh so very DIY geek chic!

Blogger Lolitta said ... (10:34 PM) :

Hmm, I was wondering if this was a diy project? Not that it matters because I like's pretty cool.

Blogger Adrianna Traxler said ... (10:37 PM) :

Anonymous sarah said ... (11:19 PM) :

its really cute.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:24 PM) :

the tiny rips in the sweater make it so much more interesting

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:16 AM) :

I don't really like this, looks quite sloppy to me. and he could with a slighty better hair cut

Blogger FASHION SNAG said ... (12:21 AM) :

so cool! this guy has got awesome style, the studs are so surprising against the rest of the simple look, LOVE IT :)

Blogger juju ariel said ... (2:29 AM) :

my favourite is the hip swagger, the sweater loose and tucked in only slightly to one side, with the sleeves rolled & bunched so perfectly.

Blogger Breathless said ... (2:38 AM) :

ooo I love it. I might steal that idea:)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:57 AM) :

not a fan. the studs and colors are exactly the same as a number of pieces burberry prorsum did a few seasons back. but i dont think his is?

Blogger xoxo, alizée said ... (3:33 AM) :

I love shirt with details

Blogger indigo warrior said ... (9:33 AM) :

Where is my beadazzler ...

Anonymous too tiki said ... (10:06 AM) :

i don't like that the collar isn't partly hidden by accident, but it's a part of the idea of the outfit. It makes the whole look too strained.

Anonymous Amy Wilson said ... (11:16 AM) :

This look is ultar cool, loving the detail.

Blogger Caio Fern said ... (11:37 AM) :

good to know your blog .

casual rumpled look, yet no detail missed...the bottom of the sweater and the pushed up sleeves are all mirroring the collar peak

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:06 PM) :

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:05 PM) :

and i thought studs were looking so generic these days...way to but a fresh spin on the trend!

Blogger AmosBlog said ... (3:29 PM) :

Looking for a nice but not too expensive tie clip for my boyfriend. Any of you stylish men have a recommendation? Thank you!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:24 PM) :

Blogger New Found Lust said ... (1:18 AM) :

Is he not trying too hard on purpose or not? that's the magic of this anti-outfit. The studs aren't even it.

This dude is certainly an inspiration for my stud fashion research blog.

Anonymous ed hardy said ... (2:56 AM) :

Agree. It's a good article that I can apply this for my routine. I love it, so usefully. Thanks. :)

Blogger la flore et la faune said ... (4:25 AM) :

About shirt collar : don't know how to put it in english but I'm sure Garance can translate my french ;)
> Fred Astaire avait coutume de laisser dépasser volontairement un des deux pointes de son col, comme ce jeune homme. Ceci pour éveiller l'envie de le toucher chez son public féminin, de s'occuper de lui. Bonne tactique, non ? Essayez, ça marche à tous les coups.

Bonne signature.

Now there's one element of an outfit you very rarely see with studs on it. I like it!
As usual, your eye for detail is superb.

Anonymous T. said ... (9:46 AM) :

I like how he's dressed, it seems simple but the nailed collar give an another touch - I didn't notice this, the collar. No, in fact it still simple, but the collar just draw us by the brightness. It's cool, I think it's not too much, the " nails " don't bright a lot, and the clothes and the face's man mollify the all ! He's got a sweet face and wear nails - I think symbol of strenght - on his collar, and keep being normal because after all, its just a detail. That's cool I like.

Anonymous baju muslim zahra said ... (9:59 AM) :

simple style :)

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (11:17 AM) :

The shirt is great, but the sweater's color is daring. It could so easily be off-putting. In fact, perhaps that's why I waited to make a comment.

What I really like about the sweater is it's weight. How it hangs. I wonder what it's made of.

Anonymous mens designer clothes said ... (11:30 AM) :
