On the Street...Ninth Ave., NYC

With all white the slightest touch of color can be just enough.

Blogger Rachel @ The Haute Notes said ... (3:33 PM) :

A white dress is absolutely perfect for summer. She looks so fresh and casual. I love the pop of color with the blue necklace. It makes this look so much more interesting.

Blogger rekha. said ... (3:33 PM) :

true. love the gold bangles and the green flip flops. fun play on that goddess-like white summer dress.

Anonymous funkyou said ... (3:46 PM) :

simple and clean..perfect for this hot weather ,,,

Blogger mette said ... (3:46 PM) :

She looks pretty. If only she wore some other shoes, the picture would be perfect.

Blogger Anita Puksic said ... (3:50 PM) :

Mhm, looks so sweet and clean.

Peace and love!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:57 PM) :

I absolutely hate it when people ruin a beautiful outfit with a pair of beach flip-flops. Otherwise this would've been beautiful!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:08 PM) :

I agree about the color. But that "see-through" is scary.

Blogger Ms. B @ Millie Deel said ... (4:11 PM) :

Lovely! Very diaphanous!

Happy Monday!

xoxo

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:16 PM) :

That see-through reminds me of that Diana Spencer pic. Love it.

Blogger hectordugo said ... (4:20 PM) :

I hate flip flops! it ruins everything, desolé...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:22 PM) :

Love the white, but she needs a slip!

Blogger Amy said ... (4:26 PM) :

Simply perfect!

I always love a touch of turquoise with white.

Blogger Nicolas said ... (4:32 PM) :

She is ready to spend a day at the beach, but for a day in the city i would have changed the flip flops for something else!

Anyway, love u!

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:54 PM) :

I love it!Very fresh, so cool, she is like a much needed in New York breeze.:-))))

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:07 PM) :

Too bad about the cigarette.

For those who say "no flip-flops", what then?

Blogger morgan said ... (5:13 PM) :

flip flops are NOT shoes .. they're beach wear.

Anonymous StreetstyleNews said ... (5:21 PM) :

Tailor-made outfit for the Hamptons - but in the city it's even more exciting!

http://follow.StreetstyleNews.com

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:36 PM) :

Agreed, she needs a slip. Even in the photo I can see her undergarments and it is distracting from the beauty of the dress and the woman.

Blogger hayleysherie said ... (5:46 PM) :

This woman reminds me of Frida Kahlo...

and maybe everyone should give her a break about the flip flops... maybe she just got a pedi!

love the bangles!!!!!!!!!!!

Blogger Ashley said ... (5:49 PM) :

So so true. Except I would lose the flip flops.

Blogger Unknown said ... (6:00 PM) :

OH my!
Truly classic...
no need to cover the transparency...
less seen than at the beach...
This look is perfect during a vacation at Cape Cod...
Smiles.

Blogger adelaidegalsblahg said ... (6:30 PM) :

the dress is nice and i like the incongruity of the thongs with the floaty dressy dress..but adding the necklace to me is too much..looks very pedestrian..

i would have prefer nothing..then the focus would be the thongs..simple

Blogger Dannie said ... (6:43 PM) :

angelic dress, i love her necklace as well!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:08 PM) :

She almost had it, flip flops ruined the look.

Blogger Lucio Lemos said ... (7:34 PM) :

not only flip-flops but brazilian Havaianas. cool as hell.

Anonymous elisabeth said ... (7:41 PM) :

well, i am the flip flop queen if there ever was one. i think that on her, with that dress, the sandals keep it casual, not prissy, relaxed rather than stuffy. i love wearing a pretty little dress, some eye-popping jewelery and my flip-flops. that's my style all the way, and i get compliments all the time. it needn't be foo-foo head to toe, you know?

Anonymous Elaine said ... (8:19 PM) :

Lovely young woman. Like that her hair is away from her face. Nice bangles. But is that a cigarette in her right hand? Too bad. The shadows on the sidewalk are also very nice, and the contrast of the buildings on the left and the trees on the right.

Blogger Rita said ... (8:24 PM) :

Very beautiful! But I would have opted for a nice pair of sandals :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:26 PM) :

Dangerously see-through.

Anonymous Jane (Melb) said ... (8:28 PM) :

I think the ethereal white dress is loosely disguising her hidden desire for comfy shoes, rockin' sunnies and cigarettes! This picture reminds me to see beyond first impressions...

Blogger Green said ... (8:51 PM) :

Such a dramatic contrast to the photo right below (a couple who dressed to kill in black).
I go for BLACK in NYC even in summer!

Anonymous Charlotte K said ... (8:57 PM) :

I don't think these dresses and flipflops are appropriate citywear, but having said that, she looks deliciously cool.

Blogger Rafe New York said ... (9:00 PM) :

All white in the summer with a hint of color is always right. I wish she wore something else instead of a flip flop though.
Just posted an all white pic of a girl wearing a Rafe bag on my blog: http://rafeloves.rafe.com

Blogger Josh Tengan said ... (9:02 PM) :

those look like hawaiian bracelets

Anonymous greendress said ... (9:05 PM) :

i think she looks beautiful and relaxed. isn't that important? i'm not sure why some viewers remark on the lack of a slip. there is nothing even vaguely slutty looking about her dress, comportment nor attitude.

i find her look refreshing and inspired on a god awful hot and sleep inducing humid day.

Anonymous holly said ... (9:08 PM) :

Nothing says cool and pure better than white with a pop of turquoise
blue jewelry...Its always on my list and pretty much my summertime uniform

Blogger mro said ... (9:10 PM) :

the turquoise really does pop....though I have to agree I wish she was rocking some contrasting bright heels.....something unexpected like olive or plum. still, i love the sheer white maxi for the summer, with a big bold necklace.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:27 PM) :

Awesome neckless.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:47 PM) :

I agree with the flip flops comment. A chic pair of gladiators would have been more fitting.

Anonymous Sondra said ... (10:08 PM) :

Summer epitomized

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:00 PM) :

White plimsolls would have been an alternative

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:08 PM) :

Yup. The flip flops sort of throw the outfit off for me. Gladiators probably would have done the same since I'm SO over them. I'm not sure what shoe I would give this woman. Maybe because I don't like the dress either? :(

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:17 PM) :

I used to bash the flip flops. I would avoid them. Especially the ubiquitous brown leather flip flops seen everywhere with everything.

Then I realized how free my feet felt when I wore them. Light. My toes could breathe a bit.

I don't wear them with everything, but now and again they feel great.

This woman looks great. Cool, relaxed.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:48 PM) :

Here in Sydney no one would blink at the 'flip flops'. I'd rather look at this relaxed woman than that tryhard pair in black below (although it is a marvellous double portrait).

Blogger DENNI said ... (11:53 PM) :

WHITE AND PERFECTLY DRESSED. SO COMFY..LIKE IT

XX
CHICMUSE

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:58 PM) :

a slip. remember those? they are beautiful and functional.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:39 AM) :

you call them flipflops, we (in australia) call them thongs. And they can look good - but not when they look like tacky black rubber.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:57 AM) :

i love love love it.
she looks like she's vacationing in santorini or southern italy... BELLA!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:13 AM) :

Love it, I'm not sure if the toes are working for me though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:15 AM) :

I love the look, including the cig., which gets lost in the sea of white. The red in the sunglasses, the turquoise necklace and the gold bangles make it a very clean summer look. Now for the flip flops...I'm glad to see the feet were, at least, well manicured; otherwise it would have been an infraction (serious or otherwise).

Blogger Florence said ... (1:42 AM) :

I love the centre part in her hair and the dress, but.....scrolled down and wondered why would someone with such a lovely sense of style would ruin the whole effect with those mundane flip flops?

Blogger Cobalt Violet said ... (2:28 AM) :

Love the turquoise and white ... and the bracelets. Very summer fresh. When you are in the city ... a SLIP please. (Unless you are in Santa Monica.)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:13 AM) :

the blue of that necklace really pops out in contrast. but it looks so good.

Anonymous Sinta said ... (5:21 AM) :

That blue necklace just pops out.

Blogger F. said ... (5:38 AM) :

True. The colour makes the outfit.

I love the colour on her toe nails too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:54 AM) :

With no transparency,no frip flops and no sigarette, it would be another narrow minded and boring girl who lives her life "by the book".

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:27 AM) :

Ahh... nothing says cool better than a menthol cigarette hahahaha.

Nice toes.

-Pietro

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:48 AM) :

she reminds me of isabella rosselini

Anonymous Debarge said ... (7:33 AM) :

i concur with the thongs/flip flops (sorry, thats what we call them in aus! lol) comments.
but that particular necklace is quite the distraction =D

Blogger C. said ... (9:47 AM) :

Wow this picture is stunning. I love how clean and simple the dress looks on this lady.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:20 AM) :

it's a nice look! But nothing really special....
flip-flops from old navy...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:43 AM) :

The flip flops make it look less stuffy and put together. There is something to be said about not being too uptight with fashion.

Though I love all of your shots and am inspired by them, there are all together too many pictures of super skinny (unhealthy)smokers!

Blogger ♥ Maria ♥ said ... (12:38 PM) :

She is in New York City, give her a break on the flipflops! I have my trusty flipflops whenever I walk 20 blocks to and from work. But I change to my sandals once I get in the office.

Anyway, I have a similar outfit that I'll be wearing to a club. The turquoise and white contrast is beautiful!

Blogger Not Required said ... (1:16 PM) :

It's probably already been said, but I would have like a simple gladiator sandal with this. Other than that, it's really nice, and screams summer.

Blogger Almaty Street Fashion said ... (3:45 PM) :

So angelous! And like vacation style. Love it!

Anonymous Antoinette said ... (3:59 PM) :

The dress practically dissolves into the sidewalk, thus procuring a stunning elongation effect. I recall ads Ralph Lauren ran for years centered around a similar, simplistic turquoise and white color story. Nothing screams summer louder than the fresh and aesthetically please combination.

Blogger Intrinsically Florrie said ... (4:18 PM) :

I just love the colour of that necklace, and it goes so nicely with the neckline and colour (or lack of) of the dress.
Indeed nearly everything I've bought lately seems to be turquoise.

Blogger pink avenue said ... (4:58 PM) :

she looks gorgeous and effortless, especially with the turquoise, but the flip-flops were a poor choice. simple and chic sandals would have done the outfit justice.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:42 PM) :

Very nice...but not a big fan of flip flop in cities where there are no beaches!!!

Blogger Noelle + Kendall said ... (7:16 PM) :

We love her dress,
she looks beautiful! so summer chic

Anonymous Margo said ... (8:37 PM) :

She can wear casual sandals, leather, that breathe - doesn't have to be black Old Navy flip flops. Way too boring. Sandals can be sexy AND walkable!
I agree that she needs a slip. It's not a modesty issue - it just looks sloppy.

Blogger kahartland said ... (9:08 PM) :

chic and sleek. although a different pair of shoes wouldnt hurt...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:18 PM) :

Love it! I got your book in the mail today! It is so amazing! I am loving every moment of looking through it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:33 PM) :

That's perfect for summer. I would wear it.

Blogger Ljubica said ... (10:06 PM) :

this photo exemplifies the lesson that needs to be learned time & time again: less is more

Blogger Nabster said ... (10:29 PM) :

Love white in summer - white linen, cotton, silk, chiffon or whatever.

It's a very clean look.I wish she had worn something other than flip flops though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:19 AM) :

Flip flops, sneakers, pj bottoms... All have their time and place, but too often we see them outside of their intended uses and purposes. I see too many beautifully dresses women whose outfit is ruined by a pair of flip flops, and this one is a good example: effortless, light, beautiful... and flip flops? They belong on a beach or in the public shower, she'd be better off barefoot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:24 AM) :

Fresh pedicure... looking at this woman one should know the shoe change was just minutes away!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:34 PM) :

love this dress!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:19 PM) :

Finally - someone dressed for the heat of summer! No blazers, no all-black ensembles, no wool. She looks so cool and comfortable.

So refreshing!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:26 PM) :

Turquoise jewelry makes everything better

Anonymous Alsk said ... (2:57 AM) :

She looks very fresh and peaceful. It's a shame she is smoking.

Blogger Manja said ... (11:21 AM) :

I love this beautiful summer ensemble! The only thing that is bothering me (next to the cigarette) are the flipflops....but that's a personal thing between flipflops and me. I just don't like them very much.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:36 AM) :

I love the combination of turquoise and white, and the necklace is really pretty but I think her dress is way too transparent. I'd wear a dress like this to the beach, not in the city.

Anonymous Wow Gold said ... (6:04 AM) :

Interesting collection of images.

Anonymous auto loan rates said ... (6:11 AM) :

Awesome pics!you can add some more stories with pics they prove to be beneficial and entertaining same time.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:06 AM) :

This is an individual. Hura!

Anonymous Mockoff - Emily said ... (12:43 PM) :

The blue pops the white so well. Nice choice for the last few weeks of summer.

Anonymous frankie said ... (9:29 PM) :

i like this kind of outfit.its simple, its compftarble, yet stylish and pretty but i think the flip flops totally ruined the outfit

Blogger anna kim said ... (11:32 AM) :

wow so refreshing

Anonymous CJ said ... (5:07 PM) :

Lovely. She looks like a mirage in the heat.
