This is an absolutely completely fullfiling shot, it has everything. I'm in love. I'm posting this on my blog :)
It's just too perfect.

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:11 AM) :

where do i begin? im in love with the shoes, the awkward block colors on his tie. the straw hat that looks a tad too small. the solid black strip. and the cig in his mouth, his expression.

great shot.

Blogger Soren Lorensen said ... (11:12 AM) :

holy granola!!

it is like he stepped out of a film

i kind of hope he has a gun somewhere because this outfit would really suit a gun.

Blogger Maia said ... (11:13 AM) :

Now THAT'S the best thing I've seen all week. I don't often comment on a fashion statement (which isn't to say I don't look) but this one....this one is perfection itself.

Blogger ana said ... (11:14 AM) :

This picture is so elegant and cool at the same time!! I love the caaar and his shoes.

What about the auto!? Great white walls, like the white on his shoes.

Anonymous Hannah said ... (11:36 AM) :

He definitely has the look down. Meticulous and charming, and the car is fantastic! There's something so refined and elegant about a pale suit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:36 AM) :

Glorious.
But I think I'm even more interested in the luggage rack!

Blogger Candace said ... (11:38 AM) :

Very nice! And that's a lovely car behind him....the side mirror is beautiful, glad it's in the shot!

There is no way that I can see this shot being classified as "on the street."

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:13 PM) :

marcel chu;
ray proust.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:15 PM) :

In my opinion, one of the most beautiful picture you've ever taken: the light, the attitude, the style...

Anonymous B said ... (12:17 PM) :

Great picture! Love the car

Anonymous Medders said ... (12:23 PM) :

He is the epitome of style; cool, calm and collected. How does one ever get to look so suave!

Blogger Darla: Retro Ways said ... (12:38 PM) :

Amazing photo I love everything about it but the car is to die for! Ray Chu is very dapper in this photo as well!

Anonymous basietrane said ... (12:40 PM) :

Is this from the Jazz Age Lawn Party? Always look forward to your photos from there.

Some kind of Great Gatsby summer party?

I hate you so much Ray. Hate you because I don't have all your clothes. Those shoes are SPECTACULAR. I'm stealing them.

Blogger Ghetto said ... (12:55 PM) :

incredible shot!

Blogger Yoli said ... (1:03 PM) :

Stunning! and the flair with which he is carrying himself. In a world of minimalist clothing or just plain tacky 80's retro, this guy is king.

Blogger diane said ... (1:14 PM) :

His shoes are the finishing touch.

Blogger Brittney said ... (2:12 PM) :

This is such an amazing shot. I feel like you traveled back in time to capture this scene.

His entire outfit is pure perfection.

Blogger ricola said ... (2:12 PM) :

This guy is absolutely mad with style. Perhaps it was for this one day, this one event....but I seriously doubt it. That arched brow says he knows he's the cats pajamas when it comes to making a sartorial impression.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:13 PM) :

Do take note of the rear view mirror on the car - now that is fabulous!!!

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:36 PM) :

How classic Americana!!! The car and the way the man is dressed brings me to remember those pictures taken of people back in the 30's or 40's even the 50's!! The car and his look deffinitely compliment each other!
http://thetrendydwarf.blogspot.com/

Blogger Thomas Modeen said ... (2:39 PM) :

Classical & timeless...

Anonymous An said ... (2:42 PM) :

this is straight out of The Great Gatsby.
Was this a party?
And, more importantly, where would one find a car like this?

Anonymous Liz W said ... (2:43 PM) :

My friend of many years. He never ceases to amaze me. Vintage shopping with him is an absolute dream!

I LOVE Raymond Chu photos! Keep 'em coming!

Blogger yves said ... (3:23 PM) :

this young debonaire is sleekly dressed up flawlessly..AND effortlessly!

adore the pale blazerset, the classic tie size (since skinny ties are over being "trendy" already) and the laidback additional of the straw hat!

yvestyle.blogspot.com

Blogger Dawn said ... (3:26 PM) :

Anonymous killaswag2079 said ... (4:18 PM) :

this photo is to cool......

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:34 PM) :

Oh Ray Chu. The only way it could be better is if I didn't know the truth: he looks that good every day.

Blogger Gracie said ... (4:37 PM) :

Okay, why can't we just all go back to the twenties/thirties era? :) For serious, though...the lines were cleaner, the colors more pleasing, and the shape of the clothing was made to flatter the human body, not weird it out. My gosh...those shoes rock. Monk strap meets saddle oxford. haha

Anonymous AnonymousJK said ... (4:37 PM) :

Finally, the rebirth of cool!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:52 PM) :

This image reminds me of that amazing film The Lover. Oh so so dreamy!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:57 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:49 PM) :

Sorry, but I find this a "clothes in the attic", uninspired and very derivative look. And, the clothes are wearing him.....

Blogger Bookworm said ... (7:04 PM) :

Gorgeous photo, love the vintage outfit. It totally looks like a movie set! Totally summer. (:

it's simply brilliant. and it will never happen in the place where i live. i envy so much.

really nice photo, love it.

Blogger Sputnik said ... (11:43 PM) :

What an attitude shot, nice hat!

Anonymous Seditionaire said ... (11:55 PM) :

Any chance that this gentleman be looking to adopt a 30 year old Peruvian actress...adopt or marry...as long as he wears that suit everyday, and drives that car, I'm his! LOL

Seriously though, he just stepped out of the Great Gatsby and I love him for it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:32 AM) :

beautiful. i mean smoking is not sexy but the outfit is on top! a tattoo on the hand would have been fictional perfection!

Anonymous Anela said ... (3:57 AM) :

hello

i really like your blog
the pictures are amazing.

take care

Anonymous Kelly said ... (4:45 AM) :

I think you're ready to make a film. It would be something inspired by Marguerite Duras work or a biopic about Cecil Beaton. Please cast Jude Law as Cecil. Madonna will let you use Beaton's Manor near London, if she didn't sell it yet. What a pleasure to cast people to play all those women around him and specially what a pleasure recreate the ambiance of all those wonderful pictures.

Anonymous Nick said ... (11:25 AM) :

Why not? I also have a linen suit and boater which I wear out and about. Though I must say, Ray has it down pat. Wish I had a summer suit as nice as that!

Anonymous emma said ... (9:26 PM) :

As much as I adore this picture and style, this reminds me of a man still in costume taking a break from a movie set or something. Similar to The Truman Show, where everyone is acting and putting on a show.

Anonymous camille said ... (9:02 AM) :

magnifique :)

makes me think about "L'amant" from Marguerite Duras, very enticing, something erotic in there...

Mad props for your pictures in general!
