Lovely use of color!

Blogger Theresa P said ... (8:38 AM) :

Love that purple scarf!!great guy& shot!!

Blogger Jorge from W Palm Beach said ... (8:39 AM) :

Love it. I think what makes the outfit work is that plaids, even though they are mostly the same scale, do not immediately overlap, there is always something in between: there's the tie (striped) followed by a plain shirt followed by the scarf and the vest (both plain) and then the jacket and overcoat, which are themselves separated, again, by the scarf. It is a bold look, to be sure, but he pulls it off. I would use a heavier shoe to anchor the look, but I really, really like it. Jorge from W Palm Beach

penetrating eyes and a flawless style.

Blogger ryder said ... (8:44 AM) :

what a beautiful man. if only more men (& women too) would take the little extra initiative with getting dressed. loving the mix of colors, textures, & layers. and such gorgeous eyes!

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (8:44 AM) :

Nice to see Luca again. Always fabulous though obviously meant just for him, not that I wouldn't like to have the vest and scarf. I bet his socks were great, too. This is the first photo in which I've noticed his eyes- definitely part of the palette!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:48 AM) :

Love his color choices, he has eyes like Newman and the same kind of cool to boot. Vibrant mix of pastels, primary colors and earth tones. Genius. Makes you wonder what the rest of his closet must be like.

Blogger MouseClark said ... (8:48 AM) :

The colours, the textures... the best thing...those eyes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:50 AM) :

WOW. This man topples any stereotypical notions I might have had about "little Italian tailors".
What a glorious example of putting oneself together. He's achieved a powerful cohesion by combing together totally unexpected pieces. And he knows he looks magnificent.
This is the best I've seen him look, actually.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:52 AM) :

bravo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:53 AM) :

Love the way the purple and the turquoise go together!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:56 AM) :

I dont like him at all, so confused in colors, patters and fabrics . Too extreme for me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:58 AM) :

This might be my favorite photo series/photo subject I've ever seen on your blog (and that's saying a lot because I love them all)
I mean, where do you even start? His mixed patterns? His incredible understanding of color? The perfect glove-in-the-pocket touch? (And in such an impeccable deep royal)
And his eyes!!!
I love the sneak peak of the vest and the lining of his coat in the second picture and the perfect finish of the bracelets...
I could go on and on! Wonderful Sart, you never cease to amaze.

Blogger Sarah said ... (8:58 AM) :

HE'S GOT IT ! !
I'm a big fan of his tie
x

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:59 AM) :

One in 10,000 people have the courage and imagination to pull off a look like this. How sad for the remaining 9,999.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:00 AM) :

I love how his clothes pick up the colours of his face: the coat corresponding with his blond beard, the scarf with the rose of his lips and shirt and tie match his blue eyes perfectly.
The greenish jackett he seems to be wearing underneath wouldn't look half as perfect.

Blogger Ginghaman said ... (9:00 AM) :

fabulous!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:01 AM) :

Wow-great colors!

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:08 AM) :

Blogger Miyu said ... (9:18 AM) :

what interesting colors and patterns on a man...very dapper

Blogger Legally Brunette said ... (9:23 AM) :

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. The stripes (tie) and plaid (coat) together are divine and the scarf pulls it all together with sublime color. My favorite shot of the year.

Blogger The Spicers said ... (9:26 AM) :

Glorious!
What a terrific mix of patterns and colors. Just beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:26 AM) :

The color of his eyes.... beautiful .

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:27 AM) :

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:27 AM) :

I love this look...and the guy's not to hard on the eyes either! Beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:30 AM) :

Is there really someone who can put together this glorious arrangment of colours with such harmony that looks the most natural thing in the world?
Congrats to the guy for the subtlety with which he shows knowledge of colour, fashion and style in a way many fashion directors only dream of.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:32 AM) :

perfection!! this is what i tune into this blog everyday for.

Blogger diane said ... (9:39 AM) :

Some people just know how to look into a camera, I'm not one of them. The man is too handsome for words, who cares what he's wearing?

Blogger The Concrete Commentator said ... (9:41 AM) :

Nice Nice! I love these shots. Yeah, he looks great, his eyes, the colors, but your craft and talent comes out in these shots. Good job!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:44 AM) :

crazy use of colours & prints going on here- but it's absolutely lovely on him!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:12 AM) :

His Tie, Light-Brown hat and Purple scarf look nice.
Vivid blue gloves in the pocket are fun accent!
Mixing a lot of colors but look nice.

The total seems to make his atmosphere softer and sweeter but dandy.

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:18 AM) :

wow love the whole assemble, the color and textures. so effortless

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:19 AM) :

Such a wonderful mix of color and pattern. And he wears it also with such an easy confidence. J'adore.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:20 AM) :

Fabulous! What a man! Sart, can you photograph him everyday while you're in Milan and post the pictures? -such a rare treat to see such cool and unique personal style. Gentlemen - be inspired!

Blogger norawoah said ... (10:44 AM) :

is it possible to coordinate your eyes to work with your ensemble?

Blogger Bug Pin said ... (10:50 AM) :

This is just FANTASTIC--I wish everyone in America dressed this way. I mean gave some thought to it--at all. There's a lot of sweats running around our country:)

BIGGEST thing (trend??) I notice about all the Euro pics are all the trousers with skinny cut legs for both men and women. Not so much this shot but ALL the others you have so beautifully portrayed. I think it's a fabulous look and I appreciate you sharing your wonderful photos with the world:) What a job--you lucky dog!

Blogger hannah said ... (11:13 AM) :

love all this color! sometimes it seems like men forget that color is good!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:13 AM) :

Blogger LivingGolden said ... (11:26 AM) :

The man - GORGEOUS
The pieces - classic
The look - confused.
I guess I'm one of the 9,999 because I'm not feeling this one. Luca pulls it off, but the average man would have difficulty.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:28 AM) :

Lucky chap.

Lots of nice things.

Shame he chose to wear them all at once.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:32 AM) :

Fantastic coat!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:43 AM) :

much too much...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:43 AM) :

yes very Florentine guy, stylish, stunning eyes, which there are a lot around the north of Italy, great colours, layers textures etc., but the shape of the hat doesn't work for me, to unshapely, melow… hummm against such boldness in the rest, I would say!
Sartorial, I wonder, does the scent of this very stylish people match the figure, always wanted to know! because I believe that scent is the final and inner touch in an outfit (the blingbling of charming people :D), don't you agree… I remember when I was there, that most people smell wonderfully… as a suggestion, if you may, you should add a note about it.
:D
Thanks

Blogger Kay said ... (11:47 AM) :

I have never seen so many colours work so well together.
Also I think it's so hard to instinctively know which colours suit you, and based on the image of the guy's eyes he really does.

Blogger Mille said ... (11:48 AM) :

I like him, New York style, he looks like someone who writes or assist a fashion mag. But, the hat? Why a ugly hat on a pretty head? Kinda ruins the outfit alittle.

Blogger parisgirl said ... (11:51 AM) :

stunning...and his clothes are cool too...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:59 AM) :

Brave and beautiful!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:00 PM) :

Thats hot

Blogger Hannah Stephenson said ... (12:02 PM) :

So striking. The scarf, tie, and jacket combo--beautiful and unusual mix of stripe and color. I love it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:05 PM) :

Wow, completely masterful. What incredible colour sense.

Blogger Smalls said ... (12:09 PM) :

surprised that everyone likes this so much. I don't like the tie or the pants color.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:18 PM) :

this is my fist comment on the satorialist and this is a good comment I love this guy I love the purple with the tartan ...
Well i love it !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:22 PM) :

Amazzzzzing!!!!!!!from head to toes, only italians can pull off such a combination of colors & textures, one of your best pics!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:25 PM) :

Contrived is the word that best sums up this look, despite his handsome face...

Blogger Sue | Saras | Sohf Travels said ... (12:33 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:34 PM) :

The outfit is great. Love the colours. But I don't think the hat is right! Pretty boy though!!

Incredible outfit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:49 PM) :

Blogger Daisy said ... (1:05 PM) :

Colors! I can't tell if its the clothes themselves or the way you shoot them (or both) but these really just glow.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:06 PM) :

Superb -- great colors, great patterns, he looks wonderful and you have made stunning photographs.

Blogger Les said ... (1:11 PM) :

I LOVE this shot. He is gorgeous. HE has that rugged man who knows how to dress look.

His look makes me happy, it's so fun.

Blogger J said ... (1:34 PM) :

He is gorgeous. Look at those beautiful eyes! And the fantastically coordinated colors.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:35 PM) :

Linda combinação de cores... os olhos... as luvas... a gravata...!!!

Blogger nicole said ... (1:38 PM) :

hot!

Blogger Brian said ... (1:52 PM) :

Sorry, but looking at that mishmash of stripes gave me a migraine headache combined with a little motion sickness. I would have to take a Dramamine or get one of those wrist thingamajigs to hang with this dude. I think the word I'm looking for to describe this look is "busy".

Blogger "Eddie in the corner" said ... (2:00 PM) :

Very nice.
Wonder if he lives in a white/gray/black apartment..

Blogger Sophie said ... (2:05 PM) :

amazing. simply amazing. i wish i could match my clothes to my eyes with such precision!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:25 PM) :

hmmmm... I agree with many of the people above. The man himself is super hot. And I like everything from the head to waist - but the pants are awful. His pants are like the dockers you bought on a bad day and only wear on laundry day

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:26 PM) :

So freaking cool!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:28 PM) :

striking photo... the colors in his outfit are incredible mixed with those eyes...ah those eyes...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:48 PM) :

Too many colours for my taste. The tie is pretty and the cuffs of the pants have a nice width.

Blogger LINnY said ... (2:50 PM) :

I love the variety of colors worn throughout the outfit. They are of varying shades, yet the outfit remains subtile and well put together.

Blogger JP said ... (2:53 PM) :

really well done

Blogger John Danner said ... (2:56 PM) :

This really interesting. I could look at this for awhile.

Blogger T said ... (2:58 PM) :

I love that jacket

Blogger that girl said ... (3:02 PM) :

Wow, he has amazing blue eyes, which he complimented perfectly with his choice of colour!

Blogger Dominica said ... (3:06 PM) :

After I'm done drowning in his eyes...I might say he looks FABULOUS !!
I love it when a man has 'balls" - doesn't give a sh*t about what the rest is thinking or wearing...and I must say, he knows fashion so well !!

Blogger Alex said ... (3:15 PM) :

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Italy

and the italy-style, too!!!!

Blogger Stoner Lines said ... (3:20 PM) :

beautiful photographs ! congrats

Blogger SparkleQueen said ... (3:29 PM) :

All these different colors look right on him, not overdone at all.. very very nice.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:30 PM) :

Sart, i see from previous posts Mr Rubinacci is a tailor in Milan. I guess you have a tight schedule but would it be possible during this visit or a future visit to Milan you could show us his shop and the suits and clothes he makes? Do Mr Rubinacci's clients dress in his image?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:43 PM) :

Yes, he has a certain je ne sais quois! I wish American men were this comfortable with color. The magenta scarf is brilliant!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:43 PM) :

is that a vest underneath the coat. i like the way the clothes are put together. He sure does knwo how to pick and match his clothes. The combination of color is just wonderful,.

Blogger joe t said ... (3:46 PM) :

the face shot,,, leaves me breathless!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:53 PM) :

really just such a well "designed" outfit. the layering combinations are so good.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:55 PM) :

That is a wonderful use of color playing upon his own features.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:58 PM) :

When I saw just the closeup I thought the colors were too garish, but in the full-length shot, the scarf and hat look perfect against the plaid coat (is it the same as the coat lining?), and the bright blue shirt keeps the ensemble from being too earthy--a little zing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:14 PM) :

does anyone know who makes that jacket? thank you!

Blogger Stephanie Clayton said ... (4:24 PM) :

Those colors with his piercing blue, blue eyes...pure heaven!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:50 PM) :

I love when the mix and match of patterns and colours works out so well... and when people are not afraid to try it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:51 PM) :

Absolutely the best, most wonderful, amazing mix of colors and patterns I've ever seen.

What next? He's an artist with a sense of humor?

Marry me signore

Blogger Abby said ... (6:07 PM) :

I can't read all the comments, but I didn't know if anyone noticed the cuff of his coat sleeves? Along with the great combination...I think the cuffs are just a great touch! What a fun ensemble...:)

Blogger 1 said ... (6:09 PM) :

Nice looking man, I do not care for the colour mix.

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (6:17 PM) :

Nice shots. Very inspiring work.

About the 'Pelliccerie carnesecchi', I asked my friend who lives in Florence, but he doesn't know about that 'boutique'. But he's going to find out for me. And then, again, I will get back to you.

Blogger Lee S. said ... (6:18 PM) :

With eyes that blue and gorgeous, what other accessory could possibly be needed? Great look though, he pulls off mixing plaids and stripes without looking crazy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:19 PM) :

with that face he can wear whatever.... however a theory has been growing in my mind that if your brave enough to do a lot of crazy mixing, like, getting many different pieces, different textures colours and patterns, even with your eyes closed, and you put them together with something plain, lets say a trouser or a coat, it will probably work. of course if you have the body and face to pull it off. something like what diane keaton wore when she recieved the oscar for annie hall.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:32 PM) :

breathtaking!

Blogger Aussie said ... (6:45 PM) :

I think it's the scarf that completes the outfit! love it.

Blogger Docta Slick said ... (7:06 PM) :

yummers.

Blogger Candace said ... (8:23 PM) :

my favorite thing about this photo (and probably the least expensive) is the purple scarf and blue gloves in the pocket, nice!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:25 PM) :

I like his style, but it looks to me like the color of his eyes was tweaked with an application, (or he could have blue contacts) and that is
distracting, & too much.

Blogger indigo warrior said ... (8:29 PM) :

Well, you know, no one's eyes are as wonderful as Mr Cutey Pants' ... but, yes, this guy has a pretty face and pretty eyes.

I like seeing the lining of the coat. Things that interest me about clothes are details - linings, construction, techniques used making the item ... and buttons!

What about the buttons Sart? It's so hard to find nice buttons!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:53 PM) :

Love the color combination. Very daring and put together! Love it. Very well dressed man.

Blogger Richard said ... (9:26 PM) :

I consider Luca to be one of the best dressed humans alive, but definitely an inspiration to the worlds's youth. I have seen him pictured several times on the blog, and I have yet to be disappointed. The jacket is gorgeous, and it appears to be something that Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl would wear (that is a good thing). Gorgeous work Sart !

Blogger Sarah said ... (9:30 PM) :

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (10:15 PM) :

In the months that I've been following this blog Mr Rubinacci has been one of my favorites, along with Derrick Miller and Robert "the ascot man", among others. This post prompted me to pull some thngs out of my closet and try them together with surprizing results- an irridescent orange/greenish-gold Zegna shirt (I call it sharkskin but I don't know if that's correct)looked wonderful with ties I'd never thought of trying it with. The point is inspiration. This post made me try things, several of which worked- not as complex or masterful as Luca, but NEW things that worked. That's what I find here and value the most.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:54 PM) :

WHOA! Stylists could only dream of people actually wearing and putting pieces together like this. So Freakin Awesome! Liking the gloves in the pocket detail too.

And yea his eyes match perfectly with his shirt, BUT brown eyed people can wear this just as well, with the help of the bright purple.

A+!!!

Is there a grey plaid jacket underneath the coat? If it is...what a way to mix-match greys and browns.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:10 AM) :

A wonderful outfit, and yet... Am I the only one looking at all these beautifully-clad Italian men and thinking, aren't they just a little too studied and self-consciously preened? I know Luca Rubinacci is 'in the business', but for a lot of men here, their clothes seem a little too smart, too new, and maybe in some cases even a little prissy or evidence of trying a little too hard?

In one of the other comments someone asked if these people were born like that. The answer is surely no, because too many of these men don't look truly natural in their clothes. Compare them to that picture of the Italian chap in the slightly crumpled but impeccable blue suit, over which there was much debate about whether it was a cheap suit (and hence a look that could be easily copied) or not. It wasn't a cheap suit, of course - only a truly expensive suit crumples around you like that. But there was a man who wasn't posing, he was just wearing what he wears, as a naturally good dresser - there was something innately stylish about him. Too many of these recent poses feature people that are too well-dressed for my liking. I think the French call it, "M'as-tu vu?" I think I must be with Beau Brummell - that these men seek so much attention suggests that they are not well dressed after all...

It's fantastic how well he has put this outift together. Everything looks great!
I especially like how the blue shade of his shirt and the stripes of his tie matches his eyes.

Blogger Johnathan said ... (5:48 AM) :

It always cracks me up how football-mad Florentines always seem to find a way to sneak something purple into their ensemble.

Nice outfit but how long till he takes off the checkered coat and opens the question mark about the black waist piece?

Never think of khaki plaid coat with purple scarf and blue dress shirt can contribute such great outfit!

Oh! You see, there're so many good factors....
Don't miss the horizontal stripe tie, vest and the pant..

There's no particular point that to be fussy about..Such a perfect one!!!!!

Stunning!!!!!!!

Love the scarf and the vest (I wish I could see more of it though)
And that blue shirt just makes those dreamy blue eyes pop! Gorgeous.

To be the subject of his intense gaze...

Blogger Begoña Oliete said ... (5:06 PM) :

That pretty dress. I love it.
That the intuition of the Italians to mix colors. And the mood of making indigo wool gloves, a pocket handkerchief fainted.

Me encanta este estilo tan colorista.
Sigo este blog diariamente.

1 in 10,000 people is keeping count. there isnt only 10,000 people in the world. You take that one person, and add up, not subtract. And if you look at this blog, you will notice that there are a lot of well dressed people in the world. What is sad is there will people that will mimic this and not do it justice

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:37 PM) :

I'm stunned. What incredible flair he has.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:50 PM) :

I love the blue gloves in his pocket. They make the outfit seem thrown together and less studied.

Blogger pulp+witticism said ... (8:01 PM) :

Sigh. It's not fair to look so effortlessly tasteful. If one could only pick up a pair of piercing blue eyes at the shoppe . . .

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:12 PM) :

Stunning.... this man leaves me speechless!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:16 PM) :

his mix of colors and patterns that accentuate his best asset makes his sense of style brilliant.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:51 PM) :

I just want to marry him, right now!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:11 PM) :

those eyes, I can see why he likes color

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:49 AM) :

This man is perfect. Punchy colors in the same color family with equal intensities of purple and cobalt blue, and contrasting patterns and the haphazardly composed silhouette.

Best male ever on your blog, to me!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:50 AM) :

yum.

I can only see what he's wearing in the second shot. In the first one all I can see are blue eyes. And doesn't he know it!
