On the Street...Layered for Fall, Paris

Not a big fan of Ascots personally, but this one is pulled off very nicely. The jeans are sporty without being sloppy and the jacket is marvellous. Very very well done. Pity that we cannot see the shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:01 AM) :

He looks a bit like Jude Law. Beautiful clothes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:18 AM) :

he looks a bit like jude law. loving the jacket, cardigan, shirt and scarf. yum! not so keen on the cancer stick.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:44 AM) :

very nice jacket

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:54 AM) :

Nice shot...however, the patterns on the blazer and on the scarf don't work for me...the layering idea is there, but the execution isn't ideal; to me the beauty in layering is whether all the elements complement each other, and here, they just seem to stack on top of one another. Black belt is also out of tone.

Blogger Irene said ... (7:04 AM) :

Male. '40s. Love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:08 AM) :

O I love this !
He looks fab and casually chic. The ascot is a lovely touch.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:32 AM) :

Jacket is much to short even if it may be trendy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:36 AM) :

A Good Scarf

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:46 AM) :

Very nice.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:06 AM) :

Lovely look - he makes it appear so effortless and fluid. I adore that scarf - great colors. I wonder what shoes he wearing? I hope they're chestnut brown and highly polished! I like the way you've caught his hands, Sart.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:08 AM) :

Love the jacket and the scarf, its what you would expect a Parisian man to look like.

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:10 AM) :

As I have an addiction for scarfs, my eye fell on this gentlemen's lovely brown piece...such great class !
Would buy the same one for my husband if I'd ever found a similar one...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:13 AM) :

Gah. I love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:19 AM) :

I like it! It's kind of classy and very stylish, looks modern, but not too young...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:36 AM) :

That's Paris!
And I've been loving it for years.

P.S. You should come to see people in Riga (Latvia) - here are some good things to see.

Blogger maggie_hogan said ... (8:51 AM) :

I love his mixture of tawny and grey, and that silk scarf (?) around his neck is treees chic. Is so French!

Blogger Per gli amici "ghoss" said ... (8:59 AM) :

The first comment it's mine! have a nice day!

Blogger J said ... (9:11 AM) :

He's got that family-has-money bad boy look down.

Blogger Katie said ... (9:14 AM) :

I like it, hes dressed smart but still looks casual and laid back.
And layers on a man-Love it!

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:16 AM) :

Je l'adore

Blogger PunkiMeowMeow said ... (9:19 AM) :

Bonjour!
I'm digging the layered casual chic look. The ascot and the slightly disheveled hair gives it just the right amount of sophistication.

I like the expression on his face. Hmmm, I am curious to know what he is thinking as he takes a drag from his cigarette with his ear to the mobile.

Blogger Susan B said ... (9:24 AM) :

Love the top half! I'm fine with denim jeans in principle, but these look schlumpy.

Blogger Brian said ... (9:51 AM) :

Minus the cigarette, that's a sexy combination. Love the print of the jacket.

Blogger Fashion University said ... (10:04 AM) :

I love the unexpected print in the scarf. Definitely pulls the whole look together.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:05 AM) :

mh, I like it a lot...and love the look on his face ;>

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:36 AM) :

Cool'n'original, but hate the cigarette!! Not that i really care that's it's unhealthy, but it just doesn't go with his look'n'style....

Blogger Stratos Bacalis said ... (10:40 AM) :

The only thing I do not like is that his cardigan is so small, his shirt peeps out under it - otherwise very elegant!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:11 AM) :

awesome outfit. love the jacket, jeans, cardi, ascot, wonder what shoes hes wearing?

Blogger Kate said ... (11:35 AM) :

quite dashing. no complaints here!

Blogger leather girl said ... (11:42 AM) :

this fine gentleman has mastered the art of layering. perfect proportions, perfect color combinations. just enough variation. love this look. and agree that he does resemble jude law.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:23 PM) :

A man who can pull off an ascot, is a man I envy.

Blogger kokyat said ... (12:28 PM) :

like the oversize pockets on the jacket but don't like the undersize cardigan (too short)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:47 PM) :

i'm pretty sure it IS jude law, no?

Blogger Haiku runner said ... (1:30 PM) :

I love this outfit!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:46 PM) :

I like it ok, yet it looks to me like a Goodwill (a second hand store in USA) last minute ensamble.

Blogger mette said ... (1:49 PM) :

Well, I´m sure that with that layering on his upper body,he will survive the fall in Paris. The clothes look as if they were just picked and put on and IMO that´s the whole idea. I kinda feel that clothes in general are not so important to him(?)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:57 PM) :

To me, this man's style encapsulates the essence of what a quintessential Frenchman looks like: effortlessly chic, a bit rugged, always sexy. From the scarf to the layering, I love it all!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:58 PM) :

Very chic. Very Paris<3

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:18 PM) :

Nice colors and the layers look cozy and warm, but the jacket and cardigan look too small for him. Maybe it's just the way he's holding his arms, but as it is now, he's going to get cold winds nipping at his navel, and the pockets of his jacket are practically in his armpits.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:06 PM) :

ahhhh...i wish all men dressed like this...and were this handsome!

Blogger UESman said ... (3:39 PM) :

nice short jacket

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:03 PM) :

I like very much this casual chic outfit!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:25 PM) :

Why he didn't call me yesterday?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:31 PM) :

hey! pay attention to the size of the sleeves!
the dead was shorter lol

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:14 PM) :

oooh, i completely agree with the "family-has-money-bad-boy-look"-comment!

Blogger Rich said ... (10:38 PM) :

the blue shirt is really very nice, and i adore the scarf. the checked jacket is interesting in the length. I like the way it's all thrown together. the jeans are tacky though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:40 PM) :

makes a great picture. textures, colors, etc....but on the street the scarf is overdone for me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:47 PM) :

I definitely need an ascot, I love the cut of the blazer, especially the pockets! This is a great look, I can't help but find the pattern on the jacket and the scarf a little less then perfect. Maybe the scarf should be brighter? Or maybe the jacket more subdued?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:04 AM) :

everyone's a criti(que)c.

Blogger dav said ... (12:44 AM) :

and who said smoking didn't make you look cool?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:26 AM) :

Cool look just wish it wasn't so typical.Sad for us guys we cling to the past as a mold for the future.lol a nice silver watch sleek with a square face would set this off.

Blogger Andy said ... (2:16 AM) :

I love this look. Question: I'm short (5'7) with big curly blonde hair... Does anyone have suggestions on how to pull the ascot look off without it makin me look like i'm trying too hard? andrewrsmith77@gmail.com

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:53 AM) :

beautiful boy, more of him please.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:51 AM) :

he looks incredible, flawless, minus the cigarette

Blogger getpalmd said ... (6:46 AM) :

Awesome look, he's gorgeus. Well oh, without the cigarette.

Blogger Miguel said ... (11:07 AM) :

I love that jacket...

Blogger Allen - East Hampton said ... (11:43 AM) :

86 the ascot. otherwise, great!

Blogger ross and jenna said ... (11:46 AM) :

what is an ascot? is that his neck tie thing? if so, i really like it.

Blogger FORMENTERA ♥ AGUAMARINA said ... (12:06 PM) :

Nice look!

Blogger andrea.at.the.blue.door said ... (1:47 PM) :

It's a sort of horsey race-track look, isn't it?

I hope there is some grey in the jacket that ties in the cardigan. I love that he's got the cardy buttoned right up and that it's trim fitting.

Definitely brown shoes - or may the brown boots from the gentleman at Dries van Noten?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:28 PM) :

beautiful!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:31 PM) :

any idea who made his jacket? it's great fabric and a great cut- casual but refined.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:45 PM) :

In general, he looks great, though I agree that the ascot is a bit much, even if its color and pattern are a good addition to the rest. Also - why did he leave the APC tag on his jeans' belt loop? It reminds me of how some people used to leave that leather Coach label/fob on their belts or bags.

Blogger ellastica said ... (3:40 PM) :

a modern-day gregory peck.
the bunched bits into the jeans ruins the flow; otherwise he looks perfect.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:41 PM) :

Perfect combination: stylish, not too much classical...

Just one failure: I don't like to see the shirt near his belt, under his cardigan...

Blogger Arya said ... (5:24 PM) :

i'd say this outfit is flawless

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:27 PM) :

I like the look that the jeans give the whole outfit. I disagree with the comment that they are tacky. Real people, real men, wear jeans and there are ways, like this, to look great in them.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:35 PM) :

OMG i love mixing my blazers with slightly moure casual clothes it makes me feel dressed up for the weekdays. The clothes on the picture are just beautiful :D

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:27 PM) :

Love the silhouette of the woman in the background. He doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to Jude Law.

Blogger Ash Phoenix said ... (9:09 PM) :

I love the jacket and scarf. He's going to need a man purse soon. Overstuffed pockets take away from such a cool look.

Blogger Starck Mad said ... (10:30 PM) :

Nice. Blue Jeans for sure 'anchor' any look.....You can wear anything with jeans.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:09 AM) :

I hate to admit, he looks smoking look good...

Blogger Tørlich said ... (10:10 AM) :

It does look exactly like Jude Law.
But great shot, as always!

Blogger Victoria said ... (10:20 AM) :

::swoon swoon::

Blogger j'taimee said ... (10:37 AM) :

...love fall.

Blogger Cheryl Houston said ... (11:43 AM) :

Once I get past the disgusting cigarette, the layering is perfect!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:52 PM) :

Very dandyish style. Love the jacket, eventhough it is a bit short for my taste. Uncommon from you this kind of shot, Sart... we can't see the shoes... were they not worth it? The hands very much remind me of Cocteau's hands: he was a dandy and was very much in love with his hands, always with cuffs folded... or too short.

Blogger Somnia Carvalho said ... (2:44 PM) :

Uau!

He is that kind of thing that make you feel better just because you can look him...

Blogger Matthew Williams said ... (4:17 PM) :

I really like the length of the cardigan!

Blogger LRB said ... (4:18 PM) :

There's something very Ken Watanabe about him, which is a good thing! I like the ascot and the length of his blazer. He looks untucked but kempt at the same time.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:58 PM) :

Stop complaining about the cigarette. C'est tres sexy.

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (10:17 PM) :

The jacket is very short and trendy and this is a trend I like. I love the way his cuffs are looking. The scarf looks fine with the shirt and cardigan but doesn't perfectly relate to the jacket- the patterns fail to work together in scale, I think is the problem, but it's not a major thing. I'd be uncomfortable with my sweater that short but I don't mind the way it looks here. Altogether very nice. I'm so glad it's Autumn- I think cool weather is the best for dressing. Things get interesting now.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:26 PM) :

European styles are so refreshingly different from styles in the US.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:15 AM) :

The cigarette is perfect!
+ his forehead, eyebrows and hair remind me of Jude Law.

L.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:30 AM) :

He must be very tall - jacket too short, cardigan too short. Jacket looks like if bought at a flea market. But: all together it works !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:47 AM) :

I love the cigarette.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:39 PM) :

looks generally good but do people realize how incredibly short this jacket is? even the bottom button is way above his natural waist, and the bottom of the jacket barely covers his jeans' front pockets. this is extreme, and i'm a thom browne fan! when he sits down, his jacket will rise above the back of his trousers -- this will be problematic to say the least.

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:34 PM) :

I really wish that I lived... not in Louisiana, so I could dress in multiple layers. We barely get to wear coats, in the Winter, let alone a coat *and* a cardigan.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:39 PM) :

I only have one thing to say;
HUNK <3

Blogger Marianna said ... (5:15 AM) :

a lot of people with their phones lately in your photos, eh!

He can to smoke and to think and to talk by phone simultaneously. Some rare in a man. I love it.

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:02 PM) :

He looks like Jude Law, IMO

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:17 AM) :

i mean, i would go for it.
put together, but with enough edge that it makes you wonder what his alter ego is like. and who doesn't love a little mystery?
