Nice, I like the hair and the jacket. But I hate the bag. It's just plain ugly.

Blogger Super Milk-Chan said ... (8:11 AM) :

I WANT those shoes!!!

Blogger The Spicers said ... (9:16 AM) :

Gorgeous color coat, and LOVE the shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:20 AM) :

Hot colour combination for springtime ! Well, the skirt was the wrong choice, but all together - a pretty nice combination.

Blogger Chi-Chi and the Greek Vintage said ... (9:26 AM) :

I love the eighties colored coat! Royal blue will live on forever!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:31 AM) :

topshop coat... love it!

Blogger Alysa said ... (9:49 AM) :

Lovely! Could have been a more serious look, but she makes it so adorable with that smirk. She is a cupcake fashionista.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:03 AM) :

She is cute as a button.

Dexter Obvious: I've seen plenty of those type of shoes around. You won't have trouble finding them.

Love how the shoes look with a big splash of color. Fur hat rounds it off nicely, but I'm against fur wearing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:09 AM) :

I want to be HER!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:25 AM) :

Chic! Love it!

Blogger starbahks said ... (11:03 AM) :

LOVE the oxfords and the bag.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:17 AM) :

The girl is impishly adorable and I love the bright blue with black, but I find the proportions of the clothes too chunky. The shoes are terrific!

I don't like the hat at all. Besides not finding it flattering or attractive, I am one of those that feeds fur, not one who wears it.

Blogger Kadria S.G. said ... (11:21 AM) :

i love the coat - she's like a funky/hip audrey hepburn.

Blogger NonchalantMod said ... (11:38 AM) :

love the colour of that jacket.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:43 AM) :

Another strong argument for blue and black.

And what are the golden canisters in her purse?

Blogger Caroline said ... (11:43 AM) :

that coat! those shoes! its all too lovely.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:48 AM) :

The jacket, skirt, and hat work so well. The purse? It almost takes over the outfit. What a cutie!

Hey Dexter Obvious, if you live in London you can buy those shoes in Dune.. they're not expensive!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:22 PM) :

Further to my earlier post, here is the link to the shoes in Dune:

These are in tan & cream but they also come in black & white.

Blogger Barb said ... (1:35 PM) :

Audrey Hepburn ~ great!

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:40 PM) :

Adorable jacket. And I love that she's a normal sized woman, not one of those unrealistically thin stick figures the fashion world is obsessed with.

Blogger Heather Taylor said ... (2:02 PM) :

chic blue coat!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:12 PM) :

Lovely! Lovely blue, lovely shoes and that cigarette!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:19 PM) :

I love that color!!! The superman blue thing is totally IN this season. So fresh. It sticks out like a sore thumb but not really sore...actually more pleasant than sore. Anyway, the blue is AWESOME!!!

hey sartorialist, if you have time, check out the fashion post julie just wrote up. =) it's pretty funny.

Blogger dean said ... (2:28 PM) :

Those shoes...oh my, oh my.

For me the outfit could only be made stronger by one of the peices of clothing having more weight. The skirt is wispy, and the jacket looks as crumpled as linen.

I suppose the top and bottom (shoes and hat) are grounding enough for the lot of them.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:57 PM) :

I'd love to see more of the floaty navy skirt she's got on under that wonderful jacket.

Blogger Leigh said ... (2:59 PM) :

Too cute!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:09 PM) :

what a magnificent shade of blue.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:14 PM) :

cool funky hair cut and nice coat and the length of the sleeves is nice !!!

Blogger Anne Corrons said ... (3:23 PM) :

Wonderful bue jacket!

Blogger Cannelle Et Vanille said ... (3:29 PM) :

This is fabulous! I had heard about your blog a million times but never made the time to visit. I'm blown away. How cool are the photos and the people in the photos!

Blogger mette said ... (3:38 PM) :

She sure looks funny, but the bag is ok.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:47 PM) :

Ooooooh! I love this! I have some very cute vintage hats that stay in storage all the time because I'm never quite sure how to work them into my outfits. This give me some lovely ideas. :-)

Blogger amyw said ... (3:56 PM) :

I love how she paired the simple, stark black and white pieces with the electric blue coat (a beautiful shade of electric blue, by the way). And the shoes are amazing!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:59 PM) :

women's spectators, a nice touch1

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:00 PM) :

She looks like young, white Aretha Franklin ;))
Great look. Faaaaaaaaabulous shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:11 PM) :

Is that her hair or a fur hat?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:11 PM) :

Perfection.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:15 PM) :

Very cute... but are those batteries sticking out in the front of her bag??

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:21 PM) :

Love the coat and the shoes! Unfortunately, the bag is too big and overpowers the gamine effect of the clothes. Is there anyone in Europe who does not smoke? I would love to see that person pictured!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:27 PM) :

LOVE*

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:28 PM) :

I have those shoes!!

Blogger akahler said ... (5:02 PM) :

Does anyone know who makes that bag?

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:08 PM) :

Are those spectator pumps that she's wearing? I have a wonderful take on those shoes, but in a pair of flats. I once received a compliment that they look very Coco Chanel, lol. But, a pair of spectator pumps are on my list! :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:28 PM) :

love, love, love the shoes!

Blogger Jenny said ... (5:35 PM) :

I love the proportion of the coat with the skirt. Blue, brown and black are beautiful together here.

Blogger 1234 said ... (6:03 PM) :

love that brilliant blue jacket!

Blogger Kwana said ... (6:20 PM) :

I'm loving her bag and that coat is so sweet.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:32 PM) :

Shoes = WANT. 8D

I like this outfit. Except for the fuzzy hat and the slightly-too-short jacket (I feel like it should completely cover her dress), this is perfect. That shade of blue is just gorgeous!! ^^

Blogger Mare said ... (6:48 PM) :

very cute.
nice bright blue.
love her hat.
don't love the cigarette but that's paris for you.

Blogger lauren.entwistle said ... (7:01 PM) :

Wow, lovely shoes! And the coat is great, too.

Blogger jackie said ... (7:08 PM) :

same! the shoes are so amazing. she looks super cute!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:10 PM) :

moi aussi!

Blogger k said ... (7:34 PM) :

THAT HAT! That coat! THOSE SHOES! Absolutely divine! Love her.

Blogger Pamcasso said ... (7:38 PM) :

Lovely! The perfect shade of blue. Cerulean?? The proportions beyond flattering and the accessories give shape to personality.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:45 PM) :

Not too fond of her shoes, but I do love the rest of her outfit. Her coat is in my favorite shade of blue. :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:15 PM) :

omigod! anybody knows where to get that shoes? its to die for!! i wannnttt!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:20 PM) :

This is a little cartoony for me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:37 PM) :

I like this... it's quirky.

like she's dressed really classily but she has that smile on her face.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:56 PM) :

Blogger secondvurss said ... (8:58 PM) :

i really like the color of the coat. i'm not feeling the fur hat, though only for ethical reasons. aside from that, the style of the hat is compatible with her shoes and coat. the purse length of the skirt give the outfit a more modern look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:04 PM) :

She's adorable,
but I know what you really love her for, it's her brand new ____-skin pill-box hat.

Blogger Lyralie said ... (9:23 PM) :

And that coat, and that bag!

Blogger Rebecca Lydia said ... (9:37 PM) :

i love this, cute as a button.

Blogger Brittany(aka Ruby) said ... (10:01 PM) :

Perfection!

Blogger Amelia said ... (10:57 PM) :

I love the color of the coat. And the shoes are pretty darn awesome, too. I think the hat is a little disconcerting, though--I guess because it's hair-colored.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:24 PM) :

I love her everything. The blue coat the fabulous shoes the big bag her hair, even the ciggy butt hanging from her fingers. So completely french. She's quite lovely.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:29 PM) :

This is great! Just shows that good cloths do not need to be worn by skinny models to look good. Of course, this lady is still quite special: she is not just anybody, she has style, elegance, good taste, and creativity. She looks fantastic and you captured is really well, Sart! Thanks for this shot!

Blogger USelaine said ... (1:34 AM) :

It would be great to see more varieties of hats, for men and women, circa 1938 - fitted and fun.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:05 AM) :

Love the entire outfit, but esppecially the shoes and coat, goodness! But I also eally like her attitude; she just seems so nice and approachable. Ciggy and the way she's holding it is just the cherry on top (blah blah blah smoking is bad for you).

Energie

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:14 AM) :

And how did no one comment on your smart caption Sart...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:13 AM) :

The shoes look great, but I wasn't sure at first if she was wearing a hat or if that was her hair.....

Blogger FireBrand said ... (5:25 AM) :

Oh, yes. Well this is just brilliant. The gorgeous color of the coat, the daring shoes. I could see my wife wearing an outfit like this. I'm tempted to steal these ideas for her.

Blogger shonaloves said ... (5:38 AM) :

I'm sorry but I'm really not fussed about anything in this outfit. I don't think it is particularly individual or well put together. The blue coat is okay, the skirt shape is a bad idea with a swing coat (it just makes you look 3 sizes bigger than you are and the shoes are so-so...i've seen better.
Not up to the usual Satorialist standard.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:06 AM) :

how come no one has mentioned anything on the bag? nice tassel details1

Blogger credit cards surfer said ... (7:19 AM) :

She looks too controversial. I don't think it's a fashion. It's just some steps towards color game.

Blogger kee kee said ... (8:12 AM) :

i absolutely love the outfit! it's different but it's not overly done up. the bag no doubt is fab and phat! the shoes are just amazing and i totally envy that!

Blogger tintin said ... (9:09 AM) :

Hitting 12 on the koo-koo meter in the US. Brilliant in Paris.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:41 AM) :

The bag looks like Luella, based on the heart shaped hangtag. Those large gold things on it are the tops of gigantic tassels. This is a fun look, but I agree with the commenter who siad the jacket and skirt are a bit crumply

Blogger Cerisa said ... (11:36 AM) :

I love the combination of colours there

Blogger dwashington314@gmail.com said ... (12:57 PM) :

So much fun!

Blogger Particulars said ... (2:02 PM) :

What a beautiful coat!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:37 PM) :

Not into this one--the proportions are all wrong. The bright blue is good and the shoes are good, but the complete look is a jumble. Also, that hat is dreadful--it gives her a shrunken head that even the cute smile doesn't make up for.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:32 PM) :

Her face! Cabiria!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:33 AM) :

The coat's a great colour but I don't think it works with that skirt.

It's funny, all the people saying she looks French and to me she looks very Glaswegian, out of all the city-styles I am familiar with.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:23 PM) :

Nice coat, nice shoes.
Put together in this outfit though, i really don't like it.
The hair just ruins her whole look aswell.
Not a good look i don't think.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:29 PM) :

oh i absolutely love that coat,i have nearly the same, but in red.but blue is also very, very beautiful.i love it!

Blogger Michelle said ... (1:53 AM) :

She reminds me of the movie Amelie - her expression looks like she was scheming and she just got caught.
I love it!
I also have fallen in love with those shoes! I think I need them -The 3/4 sleeve on the coat and the pillbox type hat are also really lovely- I would definitely wear a more tailored version of this outfit!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:40 PM) :

to donna i dont smoke!

love that shoes...but i can buy them because i dont live in us=(

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:01 AM) :

Only since someone mentioned it did I notice she could've worn a better skirt to go with the outfit...

Still loving the shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:56 AM) :

those shoes are fabulous!
