Who Said Milan Isn't Beautiful?

I know...Rome is historical.
I know...Florence is quaint.
I know...Venice is romantic.
Well, did you know...Milan is beautiful.

Milan's history (actually "continued history") of wealth and commerce has filled its streets with buildings, shops, and restaurants that rival any of those other cities.

Personally, I find Rome and Venice just too directed to the tourist trade. I'm sure there is still charm in those two cities but, you have to work hard to find it. I'm actually more curious about the lost romance of cities like Turin, Bologna and Naples.

My next trip to Milan I will shoot around the city a little more and revisit some of the shops and restaurants that made me fall in love with Milan in the first place. I know some of those original posts are hard to find.

On the Street....Emerald, Milano

This young man of emerald is Gert Jonkers, co-Publisher of FANTASTIC MAN.

FANTASTIC MAN has quickly become one of my favorite men's style guides printed today. I hesitate to call it a magazine because it is just so much cooler than most of the men's magazines available right now. It is also one of the few men's magazines that is heavily devoted to fashion, style and the gentlemen that excel in that arena.

Anyway, the reason I bring this up now is within the pages of their latest edition. Inside, Gert and Jop (another co-Publisher) have quietly introduced, "THE GENTLEWOMAN."

I know, we don't need another new women's fashion magazine right now. However, I say we don't need another bad women's fashion magazine right now. I think THE GENTLEWOMAN has a chance to be something truly different. I am very excited that the first two big interviews and related editorials feature super cool women, Melanie Ward and fashion PR powerhouse, Karla Otto.

So ladies, if you see the copy of FANTASTIC MAN with Ewan McGregor on the cover, don't be afraid to take a peek inside. You might find something you like...

On the Street....Renata, Milano

I think this is the first picture I have posted of Renata with her new haircut.

On the Street....Back to Barcelona, Spain

Some of my Barcelona shots had to wait till the GQ issue I was shooting them for finally hit the stands.

When I first saw this guy from across the street, I thought he was wearing some kind of crazy suspenders. As it turns out he had just delivered some art supplies....sometimes confusion breeds inspiration. I mean, suspenders that hook into your belt loops seems very Ann Demeulemeester

On the Street....Jacques, Pitti Uomo

The Kid's Alright

Thanks everyone for your sincere responses to yesterday's "grace" post. It's one of the posts I'm most proud of and it didn't even have a photograph. Hmmm...maybe I really have to work on this writing thing a bit more.

Anyway, to bring this discussion full circle, I received this email from my 11 year old yesterday written in giant pink letters.

"hi its me, izzy. u told me 2 send u an email asking u 2 send me pics so cool. yea...
love you...
izzy
*i did the big font just 4 u! "

Well, my kids might need help with "please" and "thank you" but they're on the right track for gracefulness.

Wouldn't The Brady Bunch been so much cooler if this gentleman played Mike Brady.
