Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:26 AM) :

I was in the city yesterday and I don't understand how new yorkers manage to wear black in the summer! I am from Brazil and associate summer with color. I've tried wearing black in the heat, after all, I'll admit, it looks chic when it's done right, but I feel so HOT!

Anyway... just my two cents. In the end of the day, I realize that culture and the environment play a big part in what we wear.

Blogger comme fraiche said ... (10:27 AM) :

The only thing I didn't like was the socks in the first photo

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:53 AM) :

Regarding the sandals in the last shot, they are very similar to a pair of Michael Kors sandals I have from last season. They're elastic and super comfy. (Mine have a toe ring, rather than the crossed straps at the toe area.)

Blogger Jenni said ... (10:58 AM) :

The black and white look really well, I've been trying to avoid bright colours this summer and it looks like I've found a few ideas!

Thanks for the blog

@Jenny,
it's a vintage bike frame (60's, 70's?) that's been
built-up with new parts and wheels. Great idea for a fashionable city bike. I think it's a Fuji.

I tried to enjoy the first outfit visually, but my eyes couldn't get around all the bones.. girl needs a sandwhich.

Blogger Wildthingsrunfast said ... (12:45 PM) :

There is something so amazing about black and white in the heat of summer. As if those who don't wear the bright colours of summer are defying the rules...The result in this case: stunning.

But in all seriousness. I do love the photos and especially, the worn out boots in the first photo -- they look like the ones painted by Van Gogh! Worn to perfection.

Great first look: so simple and cool!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:48 PM) :

That boot-sock combo in the first shot is pretty interesting. Haven't seen that much before. Objectively it shouldn't work as it cuts the calf in half visually - kind of like unflattering cowboy boots. And yet for this woman it's definitely working. Definitely something best attempted by the long-of-leg.

Blogger Joy said ... (8:27 PM) :

All of these women are so very chic.

Anonymous Daniela said ... (8:47 PM) :

I really like the third picture, not just because of her clothes, but also because of her attitude. That's what really makes an outfit unique.

Blogger Jacob said ... (8:55 PM) :

Wow. She made black socks and shorts sexy. I didn't think that was possible.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:02 PM) :

i need those sandals in the third shot! i have a similar heel (with the black elastic bands) by BCBG but flats would work so much better here in Hawaii!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:01 AM) :

I love this site but i think, as far as photos of women are concerned, there is a tendency to just publish photos of beautiful young girls, who are usually nicely dressed but sometimes nothing particularly amazing (eg this one?) rather than stylishly dressed girls and women. There is sometimes a noticable lack of older women, which is when stylish dressing really counts! please dont be sexist, ... we want good dressing, not more youth worship!!!

WEAR A FRIKKIN HELMET!!!!!! I guess some ppl will never learn... until someone, or they, die. Like my dear friend TB. She left a 1 year old daughter and a devastated family and group of friends behind.

And it could all have been avoided by a h e l m e t.

WEAR A HELMET!!!!!!!

The fad for fixed wheel bikes is just that - a fad. Wait and see how many people trade them in for geared bikes once they realise they're developing thighs like tree trunks - not attractive.

Anonymous Bike Rider said ... (2:57 PM) :

The bike is a fuji feather, probably '09 or '10, with new handlebars and a basket.

Sart, I love it whenever you manage to capture positive energy from your subjects. Like what you have done here.

Positive energy has nothing to do with age: it has everything to do with attitude.

The photograph of the lady in Florence left me slightly deflated; her melancholy "diffused" through that picture. Such is the power of the image....

Photo#2: The dress and the purse/bag looks perfect together. I'm not so fond of the shoes though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:23 PM) :

I agree with the post about how frequently we see young, beautiful girls on this site whose style is nice but nothing out of the ordinary (as here). You see this same style on young people literally everywhere. Agree too that it's rare to see stylish, sophisticated older women with polish here. Strangely enough, there's plenty of diversity with regards to the gents, with all age groups and all kinds of looks represented.
