This photo instantly became one of my favorites.
She is so beautiful. I guess it is outrageous for 1928 but i'm glad she had the courage to do something new! I like when people do that without going crazy.
This photo instantly became one of my favorites.
I wonder what she had for dinner that night...
Your long ago and far way is beautifully captured.
I must say, the Italians are leaving us in the dust with this vintage stuff.
Cool!

I love her figure in this suit. There's something about seeing the width of the hemline that makes you notice her beautiful wasteline. Three cheers for hips.
I second that. Wow!
She's absolutely beautiful.
This pic is gorgeous. Love vintage and this is a great piece.

Every time you post one of these fabulous vintage photos I get closer to tossing out all of my 'modern' clothes. That hair is terrific as well.
Oh, and I would love to see a "vintage" category.
Great shoulders and a beautiful bod in general. Elegantly racy for the day it was taken.

I LOVE this - she seems to have a look in her eye that says ,"One day I'm going to be admired by thousands...How or when I don't know...but ONE day." p.s. Love the sepia tones, but this is the first vintage photo you've posted where I'd love to see it in colour too!

It's interesting to see how 18 year olds look like back then.
STUNNING!!!
This is such an amazing photo!!!!
Scott,
Like so many others here, I have really enjoyed looking at the images from this photo contest. I wonder if one of the crucial elements which make these personal photos so compelling is the genuine affection of the photographer regarding their subject. This gaze of the photographer seems to bring out something honest and unguarded in the men and women captured. The best portraits really resonate emotionally like these - I think many of your photos have this quality too.
she's gorgeous ;DD

She looks fabulous. Brava for Giulia & her Italian elegance.
Graceful!
This is a great photo. Thank you for continuing to post these vintage photos. It is interesting that this was considered an "outrageous" swimsuit even in 1928.
This photo reminds me of the very charming Esther Williams film "The Million Dollar Mermaid," in which Williams plays real-life swimming legend and pioneering feminist icon Annette Kellerman. Kellerman was actually arrested in 1907 for wearing a one piece swimsuit that showed her legs and was put on trial! She thereupon invented a one-piece bodysuit that covered her legs as well, and the judge approved it as being within the bounds of public morality. Within a few years though, swimsuits such as this one that showed the legs became acceptable (Kellerman even sold a line of them called "Kellermans"), and you would see them frequently in films of the 1920s. Anyway, photos like this are an interesting reminder of that era.

This is an amazing photo!
What a feeling it has to be if this is your own granny?! She's a beauty, Maurizia!
I adore vintage photos and hope to see much more here!
beautiful photo. And she is modern sport and actual with her long Modigliani figure.
Wow, thats nice :)
Beutiful picture!
Wow! Great picture!
its not often enough that you come across a slender figure with elongated legs and a narrow waste, who is not impacted by the severe fashion world we are influenced today. You can see how healthy she is, it is really refreshing.
Such a classic hairstyle, it makes her appear quite sophisticated, particularly for an 18 year old, a lovely wish would be to bring back this era.
maybe on my next birthday...
lovely to et a glimpse of what inspires you, you have wonderful taste
She's so fit! Impressive given there was no toning at the gym back then..
Thanks to Scott for sharing the photo of our grandmother and thanks to all of you for your nice comments, we loved them. We wonder what she would think if she could read them....
straight out of the GREAT GATSBY!!!!!

Just beautiful. Like the beginning of an epic.
first of all, the yellowish colour theme in this photo give it a lot of depth and put a old menory mood right on.
second, her posture so elegant that even should not be mentioned since too obvious, it is her very neat hair that hold my eyes, and those eyes, confident and welcoming, or proud and privite.
this photo keep me thinking of the song"cry me a river"
