Comments on "On the Street......Ray Chu, Governor's Island"
how vintage!
I love.
alot.
www.fashion-intervention.blogspot.com
This is an absolutely completely fullfiling shot, it has everything. I'm in love. I'm posting this on my blog :)
It's just too perfect.
where do i begin? im in love with the shoes, the awkward block colors on his tie. the straw hat that looks a tad too small. the solid black strip. and the cig in his mouth, his expression.
great shot.
holy granola!!
it is like he stepped out of a film
i kind of hope he has a gun somewhere because this outfit would really suit a gun.
Now THAT'S the best thing I've seen all week. I don't often comment on a fashion statement (which isn't to say I don't look) but this one....this one is perfection itself.
This picture is so elegant and cool at the same time!! I love the caaar and his shoes.
Wow, He has style and charm!!! Incredible pic too! ;P
**Best regards from Sweden**
He looks great, very nice historic pix, in fact the whole set is great... Especially his shoes..

Love it. Visions of The Great Gatsby.
now aint he SHARP!!!!?
What about the auto!? Great white walls, like the white on his shoes.
He definitely has the look down. Meticulous and charming, and the car is fantastic! There's something so refined and elegant about a pale suit.
Glorious.
But I think I'm even more interested in the luggage rack!
Very nice! And that's a lovely car behind him....the side mirror is beautiful, glad it's in the shot!
Wow!!
love the car :)
Love Ray's style. A candidate for a Style Profile?
from past to present!
that look does not fit to anyone.... but the guy made it MAJOR!
the hat plus the tie! M.A.J.O.R.!
Awesome photos!
There is no way that I can see this shot being classified as "on the street."
marcel chu;
ray proust.
In my opinion, one of the most beautiful picture you've ever taken: the light, the attitude, the style...
Great picture! Love the car
He is the epitome of style; cool, calm and collected. How does one ever get to look so suave!
I totally love it. Especially the shoes. Very Jazzy!
Glovely!
Wow! Bonnie and Clyde lives upscale!
I love it!
THere was an event on Governor's Island over the weekend called the Jazz-Age Lawn Party. There were some fantastic outfits.
Ooh, I've been waiting for you to post pics of the Jazz Age Lawn Party! Please post more!
Amazing photo I love everything about it but the car is to die for! Ray Chu is very dapper in this photo as well!
Is this from the Jazz Age Lawn Party? Always look forward to your photos from there.
Cool picture. Gatsbyesque. Ixnay on the the cigarette, though. 23 skiddoo, otherwise.
Love his shoes! Such class and elegance.
Some kind of Great Gatsby summer party?
I hate you so much Ray. Hate you because I don't have all your clothes. Those shoes are SPECTACULAR. I'm stealing them.
incredible shot!
Stunning! and the flair with which he is carrying himself. In a world of minimalist clothing or just plain tacky 80's retro, this guy is king.
His shoes are the finishing touch.
I love his vintage look as well as the shot itself....
clothedmuch.blogspot.com
This is absolutely perfect.
swoon!
Keep the Governor's Island Jazz Party Pics commin'! I love them all!
the shoes are simply great, best look i have seen here in a while.
also, i'd love to get a close look at his suitcase
Look incredible, he has great style.
http://thebluerangerhasablog.blogspot.com/
absolutely stunning photograph
This is such an amazing shot. I feel like you traveled back in time to capture this scene.
His entire outfit is pure perfection.
This guy is absolutely mad with style. Perhaps it was for this one day, this one event....but I seriously doubt it. That arched brow says he knows he's the cats pajamas when it comes to making a sartorial impression.
Do take note of the rear view mirror on the car - now that is fabulous!!!
How classic Americana!!! The car and the way the man is dressed brings me to remember those pictures taken of people back in the 30's or 40's even the 50's!! The car and his look deffinitely compliment each other!
http://thetrendydwarf.blogspot.com/
Classical & timeless...
this is straight out of The Great Gatsby.
Was this a party?
And, more importantly, where would one find a car like this?
My friend of many years. He never ceases to amaze me. Vintage shopping with him is an absolute dream!
Love this! everything is great about this picture.
(give me the car) lol
I LOVE Raymond Chu photos! Keep 'em coming!
this young debonaire is sleekly dressed up flawlessly..AND effortlessly!
adore the pale blazerset, the classic tie size (since skinny ties are over being "trendy" already) and the laidback additional of the straw hat!
yvestyle.blogspot.com
wow, always perfect-Ray Chu! Love his classic style. I wish there were more guys who had the sensibility to dress like that...getting tired of the skinny look these days!
Lovely! You are full of style!
Zepequeña.
I would do anything to be there right this minute. The moment you've captured is so classic. It will never be uncool to look like this
Is he for Real???
wONDERFUL!
Love the shot. Love the car. Great work.

glad to see Ray back on your blog again! I second an earlier comment about using him as another Style Profile.
this photo is to cool......
Oh Ray Chu. The only way it could be better is if I didn't know the truth: he looks that good every day.
Okay, why can't we just all go back to the twenties/thirties era? :) For serious, though...the lines were cleaner, the colors more pleasing, and the shape of the clothing was made to flatter the human body, not weird it out. My gosh...those shoes rock. Monk strap meets saddle oxford. haha
Finally, the rebirth of cool!
This image reminds me of that amazing film The Lover. Oh so so dreamy!
Fabulous!
Ray Chu, you look great and I envy you. Get me in, will ya?
-A. Taaffe
Looks like something straight out of a movie set! That side view mirror is quite something too.
C'est magnifique!!!!
i just died and went to blogger heaven.
what a really nice blog you have! (:
Sorry, but I find this a "clothes in the attic", uninspired and very derivative look. And, the clothes are wearing him.....
Gorgeous photo, love the vintage outfit. It totally looks like a movie set! Totally summer. (:
O M G to die for!!
i want to keep him in my pocket
buttonsandbowsla.com
Timeless! I swear if I did'nt know better I would have thought this was completely staged. This is an amazing shot. I wish I could have attended this event.
www.LuxuriousPROTOTYPE.com
Who knew people still dressed like that? It's awesome...
truly nice! the photo and the style
I want that hat!!
http://www.atasteoftomorrow.blogspot.com
Ray really should have won Esquire's BDRM contest last year. Top notch.
perhaps one of my FAVORITE photos you've ever taken!
-zarna
http://zarnasrunway.blogspot.com
Oh my goodness- dream boyf much? Awesome shot... Love the car.
He could be in a 1920´s movie. But, at the same time, he´s so fresh, so modern! Love it!
Not sure what I love more...the outfit...or the car. Best accessory EVER!
- 21arrondissement.blogspot.com
Beautiful beautiful photograph! I adore this.
Wow, such a nice outfit.
is that his car? it'd would be so complete if it was.
it's so good to have a place/an event which allow you wearing these vintage clothes/style and not look like a costume.
it's simply brilliant. and it will never happen in the place where i live. i envy so much.
really nice photo, love it.
What an attitude shot, nice hat!
Any chance that this gentleman be looking to adopt a 30 year old Peruvian actress...adopt or marry...as long as he wears that suit everyday, and drives that car, I'm his! LOL
Seriously though, he just stepped out of the Great Gatsby and I love him for it!
xo
Seditionaire
cool shot - i like the summer look!
An excellent argument for bringing back hats for men - especially straw boaters.
The only thing missing from this image is a mint julep. Great capture.
Olive
www.VisforOlive.blogspot.com
does anyone know who ray chu is?
beautiful. i mean smoking is not sexy but the outfit is on top! a tattoo on the hand would have been fictional perfection!
hello
i really like your blog
the pictures are amazing.
take care
I think you're ready to make a film. It would be something inspired by Marguerite Duras work or a biopic about Cecil Beaton. Please cast Jude Law as Cecil. Madonna will let you use Beaton's Manor near London, if she didn't sell it yet. What a pleasure to cast people to play all those women around him and specially what a pleasure recreate the ambiance of all those wonderful pictures.
singapore!!? in the 50s!??
Those shoes!
Great shot.
www.notavailablesorry.blogspot.com
I'm new - check me out :D
Amazing look, and he is just soooooo good looking.
Now where on Earth do these people get all this amazing 1920's clothing?
Sometimes I wish all men still dressed like this. There's no other word for it but 'dashing.'
I love this photograph. So vintage. Love those oxford shoes.
great tie and shirt combo.
oooh, i've been looking forward to your posts on this year's event. they're well worth the wait as usual.
the car in the background just makes this shot for me. i love old cars.
'There is no way that I can see this shot being classified as "on the street."'
Why not? I also have a linen suit and boater which I wear out and about. Though I must say, Ray has it down pat. Wish I had a summer suit as nice as that!
Gaad, I love this photo!
- Gina
is that the famous Foofy from NYC?
People are searching for and following Foofy. How did you find him? Is that one of his Rubincci's? Great look!!
Everything about this photo is brilliant, I guess that's why nobody mentioned the short cuffs!
dapper as hell. perfect shoes and demeanor to match.
love this and that car.... the thing holding the suitcase is so cool
Wow! That totally looks like a movie from the fifties, it's amazing that people still dress like that! Really nice picture anyway, that's not something you see everyday in Norway, where I live.
Just superb, brilliant shoes epspecially and the background works perfectly with the outfit. Great shot!
absolute perfection! Bravo!
amazing.
Beautiful! Simply Stunning!
Kas
Looks like a Model A or '32 roadster.
Asian men are to die for.
This gentleman is beyond amazing.
He reminds me of the man from that movie, "The Lover"
Dapper.
Meticulous and charming, and the car is fantastic! There's something so refined and elegant about a pale suit.
This photo has such a Wong Kar Wai's "In the mood for love" style. This well dressed gentleman could be Tony Leung!
Good Shot, i hope you'll include some of those vintage style photo :)
Great shot! It exudes vintage coolness :)
Perfect shot!!!! A vintage style, total!!!! :)
I find it amusing that two different people have compared him with two different Tony Leung actors - Tony Leung Chiu Wai (In The Mood For Love) and Tony Leung Kar Fai (The Lover).
love love love.
and dont forget die a thousand times.

Lapel is rather anemic--don't fear a wide peak, gents. Otherwise, superbly done.
hes very sexy and cool.
Shanghai 1934, in Summer..
Cloth, look, style, and name...
well present both photo and narrative.
-puck-
one word: exquisite.
amazing shot, really enjoy it.
www.mtlstfashion.blogspot.com
i <3 double monk staps. not too crazy about the color though. p.s. integrate fb connect so people can comment easier : P
a swagger!!! :)
what a hep cat... its like right out of a movie.
fantastic.
loves from the manxcat at www.lazymanxcat.wordpress.com
OK everybody knows that it's the cig that gives him that too-cool-for-school aura. Love everything about this photo! Harkens back to a day of blissful ignorance about smoking.
I was looking for the perfect iPhone wallpaper update. I just found it!
Amazing shoes! I am not usually a shoe guy, but these are a must!
l.o.v.e.
As much as I adore this picture and style, this reminds me of a man still in costume taking a break from a movie set or something. Similar to The Truman Show, where everyone is acting and putting on a show.
magnifique :)
makes me think about "L'amant" from Marguerite Duras, very enticing, something erotic in there...
Mad props for your pictures in general!
Oh, my. I think I've fallen a little bit in love. This is total perfection.
Wow, wow, wow.
Great shoes! A nice twist to the classic lace up oxfords.
www.bigdropnyc.com/twitter
hot!
Oh my goodness! Where do you find people like this? I love all the Governor's Island photos.
if you can prove that car goes faster than 40 miles an hour ill give you 100 bucks.
c'est magnifique!
I agree with the "complete picture" comment. I am in love and this is all around the sexiest image, the man, the car, the cigarette and the fashion of it all. *Sigh*
Incredible
everything about this picture is amazing,, the guy (the expression on his face, makes you wonder what hes got on his mind), the outfit (classic is timeless), the car, even the grass makes the shot. great!
