Anonymous Xavier said ... (11:29 PM) :

i love all these pics. the 3rd one is now my wallpaper. makes me wish i was in Paris!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:56 PM) :

These people in black outfits make very interesting photos--at first glance they look almost like silhouettes of negative space cut out of the photo rather than real people in the photo. Very cool effect.

Fashion-wise, though I am tired of the all-black look. I did it for several years and enough is enough!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:30 AM) :

paris is not always with rain! lol, i like this mood and the shape of closet

Blogger crazy cat lady said ... (6:24 AM) :

beautiful pix. i try to have such grace when walking in the rain, sans umbrella.
hope the rain doesn't ruin the shoes. they are so pretty, especially the 1st pair.

Anonymous suzanne nelson said ... (6:43 AM) :

Great sihouettes and i always love your walking/non-posed shots. I like the idea of a whole series of weather-influenced photgraph; the way people adapt their clothing for shelter or shade. i LOVE the top pic with those killer shoes - she means business, rain or no rain you can just tell!

Blogger 12 leads ECG said ... (6:46 AM) :

Loving the all black ensemble! Might try it someday in rainy Irish weather, but first must get one of those sexy black knee high boots.

Blogger Olviya said ... (6:57 AM) :

mm, love such dynamic pictures!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:20 AM) :

does anyone know the bag label and name in the second photo? so simple and chic...longchamp??

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:56 AM) :

I'll have to remember to start buying my shoes 1/2 a size big . . .

Blogger Dan in Richmond said ... (8:18 AM) :

Looking good in the rain, and not a pesky umbrella in sight. Excellent

Blogger Maggie said ... (8:42 AM) :

#1 just soared to the top of "my favorite sart pictures" list. it's a hollywood moment, brought back down to earth by the fact that the shoes (and OH, the shoes!) are a size too big. magnifique!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:45 AM) :

kate lanphear looks so hip!
nancy

Blogger Austin.Garnett said ... (9:49 AM) :

great little series!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:16 AM) :

Allow me to be the only nay sayer - In the first picture the shoes look to be about a size to big for the wearer. if they didn't have straps she would probably walk out of them.

Blogger Alvin Kevin Nanong said ... (10:32 AM) :

all shoes are amazine and all of them pull off walking in the rain so well.

Anonymous Chiffre said ... (10:45 AM) :

Oh, the Plume in the second photo - why not protect it!? It looks like Box Calf. Why?! This causes me so much pain!!
Gorgeous none the less, however!
Oh, the first silhouette. Swoon! My heart is stolen!

Blogger J. Rene' said ... (10:49 AM) :

Kate is always so amazing! Her purse-so cute, and not something I would picture her with. Great photos as usual!

Anonymous Vanessa said ... (11:59 AM) :

Ah, there's nothing quite like a French woman...

Anonymous Hannah said ... (12:11 PM) :

Lovely series! They seem almost like ghosts.

Anonymous Robert Stanton said ... (12:18 PM) :

Three stunning photos.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:42 PM) :

Her mother/sister/friend will kill her, when she gets that "borrowed" shoes back.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:58 PM) :

I think they must just have better shoes in Paris.

Anonymous princess glee said ... (1:11 PM) :

#1. Good
#2. Better
#3. Best

It's mostly all black which requires mostly all my effort to examine. In this case I find the last picture quite feminine and sexy and therefore the best of the 3.

Blogger xoxo, alizée said ... (1:28 PM) :

the knee-high boots are stunning... she always has such a gorgeous look, can't help but love it!

xoxoalizee.blogspot.com

Blogger Victoria said ... (1:36 PM) :

You can never go wrong in all black! It instantly makes someone appear sophisticated and elegant. I really like the little touches of gold in all 3 pictures too. I never thought anyone could pull off the over-the-knee high boots, but this picture proves me wrong! She pulls it off quite well and it's an understated sexiness, which I love.

Blogger Harsh Sethia said ... (2:12 PM) :

The first photo shoes ..don't work for me..
Loving the boots!!I have finally seen a pair of knee length boots with a nice tall heel and not even remotely stripper-ish!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:21 PM) :

Why the stigma with umbrellas? I understand that they're not the most fashionable accessory, but if you're traveling more than a few blocks, is your (not even waterproof) coat really going to keep you dry? I commute by bike, and if I don't wear a raincoat on rainy days, I'm soaked by the time I reach work or class.

I'd rather look not-so-cute on my commute than have my fashionable ensemble be soggy for the part of the day when I'm indoors.

What's the consensus on fashion vs. function here? It's clearly not raining too hard in the photo, but if it were...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:31 PM) :

Kate's bag is Proenza Schouler and I'm obsessed...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:40 PM) :

Re: the first photo. Her shoes may not be too big; rather, her foot may be too narrow--a problem that arises because women with super narrow feet are almost universally shunned by shoe makers. Note that her toes are overhanging her shoe on the lead foot as she presses forward. That her foot is probably wet and sliding around in all that extra width forces her foot forward--which wouldn't happen if the shoes were narrow enough. Someone mentioned the straps on her shoes holding her in. Of course they do. Take it from someone with a 5A heel, without straps we narrow-feet type would leave a trail of shoes wherever we went.
I hate shoes. The only good thing about winter is boots. Pull on a pair of sweatsocks before donning and those puppies don't move.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:11 PM) :

I've been dreading more rain here in NYC -- now I'm inspired! Gold heels and all black ... can't wait!

I would kill for the knee high boots, does anybody know where can i get ones in Spain? Thanks

Blogger L. said ... (11:35 PM) :

they all have such great style and bring a certain freshness to the colour black...

as much as i love those miu miu pumps - and i do treasure mine... it sort of annoys me that they look too big! what a shame - but maybe she's just walking fast and her feet are slipping.

Blogger The Voguette said ... (11:58 PM) :

ahhh i need those metallic architectural heelss!!! life does not go on without them!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:21 AM) :

The first photo is reminiscent of Umberto Boccioni's futurist sculpture 'Unique Forms of Continuity in Space.' google it, you'll see.

Blogger tia said ... (9:32 AM) :

what great moments!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:17 AM) :

WOW the first look is wonderful (it would be perfect, if the shoes weren't so big)

I don't like, instead, the second silhouette...I think it's those trousers' fault

Very cute the third look too

However none of these black silhouettes equal that of those two girls whom you photographed in Milan in January - pure Beauty!!

Blogger Linda said ... (2:55 PM) :

Wow, I love the first picture!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:07 PM) :

I think that the bag in the second pic is an Hermes Plume - gorgeous bag!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:45 PM) :

I love the passion for fashion that the first shot reveals - that her love of those shoes is so great, wearing the wrong size is better than not having them at all! Gorgeous!

That last shot is genius.

Blogger The Clever Pup said ... (1:15 PM) :

Err..if the shoe fits, wear it!

Blogger thirty1seven said ... (4:35 PM) :

Love the shots!! There's something similar in this post, each picture has something metallic or gold in it that stands out midst the rainy weather. In pic 1 the shoes, pic 2 the bracelets, pic 3 the bag, ring and buttons.

Well put together.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:26 PM) :

Anonymous 12:21AM - You're amazing! I looked up the bronze sculpture you mentioned and I'm STUNNED at how similar the forms are. Sart will be so thrilled... I'm swooning over your perception. Thank you; I put them side by side as my desktop wallpaper.
