Love the 2nd guys checkered shirt w/the dark navy trench, and Glenn's striped scarf is also very nice.

I LOVE WHAT THE LAST TWO GENTLEMAN ARE WEARING ITS ROUGH AND A BIT PREPPY BUT WORKS FOR ME...RATHER THAN THE SUITE.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:20 AM) :

Love the navy blue on all three - and in such different juxtapositions! the bottom with the scarf/umbrella/zip jacket is just excellent. all three look a bit tired - and the navy shows they're still putting in the effort despite

Blogger Jorge from W Palm Beach said ... (9:20 AM) :

Great pictures, I love the lighting; is it the Grand Palais? I know turtlenecks get criticized as professor-like and stiff, but the first gent wears it very well! The other 2 examples are a bit softer in construction and fit, but very dapper nonetheless. I love the jacket on the bottom photo, it looks like superb quality. It reminds me of an Hermes windbreaker I saw in a Depot Ventes once. I tried to find flaws and could not find any! Sadly, I could not affort it either. Jorge from W Palm Beach

Glenn O'brien looks great as usual, however the first look is just great - I love the black with navy

Blogger Drew said ... (9:29 AM) :

I think men in Navy are lovely...in a masculine way. :-)

Love this picture series!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:39 AM) :

First of all the Chanel collection was to die for! These guys look like they need some hot coffee and some good economic news....

Get back in the game is my advice to all those out there pinching pennies. You only live once...at least look good doing it.

Blogger The Other Gotham said ... (9:41 AM) :

Is Glenn O'Brien trying out the rugged look, or growing a beard perhaps?

Blogger ricola said ... (9:44 AM) :

YES. This is a brilliant direction.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:49 AM) :

I really loved this blog! I'll to view always!! Brazilian Kisses for everyone!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:54 AM) :

I like that the last man's hair goes with the outfit.

Blogger CW said ... (10:01 AM) :

I own a similar trench coat to that which the man in the middle photo wears, so of course he looks good in it.

Top photo - great suit that would look better with a shirt and tie. The turtleneck seems out of place with the pocket handkerchief. A matter of taste.

Middle photo - Is that an ascot? A tie? It detracts from his otherwise good look. An interesting tie would have worked better for him.

Lower photo - blue and white scarf brightens up his look. This gent will look better when his beard grows longer.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:05 AM) :

What a face! It's hard to get past the gentleman with the umbrella eyes. I am in love! Wonderful photo.

Blogger Lucy said ... (10:15 AM) :

Spring is in the air... =)

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (10:18 AM) :

Yes yes yes, Dark Navy Blue is my favorite color!

Blogger The Voguette said ... (10:31 AM) :

these photos are fantastic - i'm a big fan of the blue and white theme here!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:32 AM) :

Great outfits, all of them, but I particularly like the cravat with the gingham shirt and raincoat. That is a fantastic look.

Blogger Maximilian Laufer said ... (10:34 AM) :

That navy blue trenchcoat is beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:42 AM) :

Who was it that said navy is the french black ? i very much like all three gentlemens' outfits, elegant and not too severe.

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:43 AM) :

Three of the classiest dressed gentlemen on the Sartorialist in a row! Perfect.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:47 AM) :

I love this color combo - it's actually what I'm wearing today. It's a great way to jump into spring.

Lovely photos, as always.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:50 AM) :

Something to be said for a man who goes grey and embraces his maturity!

Blogger Glenn said ... (10:58 AM) :

The white and blue striped scarf is wonderful but I feel like the umbrella makes the picture.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:09 AM) :

The clothes are great, but it is the haunting or haunted eyes that do it for me.

Blogger My Castle in Spain said ... (11:27 AM) :

so chic...pinstripes of course..but the trench with shirt & scarf is chicissime !

Blogger Begoña Oliete said ... (11:31 AM) :

I like!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:39 AM) :

Is the suit in the top photo A&S?

Blogger stylethread said ... (11:54 AM) :

Love the mix of dark blues together !
Have to agree with Jack Daniel :
it's my favourite colour too !

Blogger postmenon said ... (2:12 PM) :

these are great - and i love the last guy's bone structure - beautifully androgynous

Sartorialist, this is truly your best time of year. I love how you manage to isolate and display the new fashion ideas that come out as late-winter weather and the intensity of fashion weeks the world over, push fashion-lovers to exercise their creativity and strive towards the new fashion zeitgeist. You are capturing these fantastic dark-royal-blue, statement-shoe, shot-of-color moments this year with such clarity, I love it!

Thanks very much.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:09 PM) :

This spring is mine: I have a narrow navy cotton parka and all kinds of navy-white scarves! I love the gentleman with the striped scarf and umbrella!

Blogger pepastyling said ... (3:34 PM) :

I don't know these men..they are really well dressed but lacking the best accessory a nice expression, # 2 seems kinder he's my favorite.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:56 PM) :

i'm going to be old-fashioned and question the gentleman's choice of wearing a lovely double breasted suit with a turtle neck, does he have on loafers too? no. no. no. no. no.

Blogger Brigadeiro said ... (4:44 PM) :

Ooh! The 2nd pic is my fave! I LOVE navy & white! Especially in the nautical flavour like the 3rd pic :)
xx

Blogger the november princess said ... (5:10 PM) :

Is it strange of me that I find that somehow, all of these men are somehow adorable? I mean, as well as ridiculously stylish... I love umbrellas with the "cane" or "hook" sort of handle, too. Hmm, I think I'm developing a thing for older guys, they're just impossibly cute. They all strike me somehow as a tad effeminate, maybe that's what it is.

Blogger Carissa Rose said ... (5:23 PM) :

I like the silver hair & beard - inspiring.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:33 PM) :

All 3 look great. I find the middle especially inspriring. Each piece is perfect with some interesting aspect but nothing bold or overpowering. You'd think that they'd benefit from some contrast, but they go together beautifully. I really want to try the scarf look, especially after they guy in NYC that you had with the scarf under his shirt a couple weeks ago. But I worry that on me it will look too affected. I'll just have try and see if the Mrs. lets me out of the house.

I wore navy and white yesterday (well, my tie had some gray in it too). I thought it looked pretty sharp.

Blogger lenmeister said ... (6:35 PM) :

It seems gingham dress shirts are pretty "en vogue" this season ( men is second pic). Its a pretty sophisticated look I think...but this stands out more in person than in picture I feel. I luuv the "gangster" striped suit on the first gentleman...pretty conservative, but the turtleneck gives it this tint of casual appeal, very well done!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:34 PM) :

Love the beard Glenn, keep it! You look amazing!

JP

Blogger Marat said ... (8:01 PM) :

Nothing special

Blogger Relaunched said ... (9:24 PM) :

Salut Mr. Sartorialist,

"blue and white" is such a great title for an elegant and spring/summer outfit for that year.
I decided in the night to yesterday, too, that blue and white will be my combination for looking well.

You have a good view for colours... trend-colours.
I know that the whole world know this, but i have just wanted to let you know it again ;-)

A bientôt,
Jérôme

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:46 AM) :

They all make blue looks so good-like it could be next in line to be the new black. By the way, great portraits, Scott! You are a true master!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:19 PM) :

Modigliani would have loved to paint stefano tonchi. it would have been beautiful.

Blogger Stratos Bacalis said ... (6:57 PM) :

All three looks are gorgeous! Such an inspiration!

Blogger Preppy Cool said ... (7:59 PM) :

All three gentlemen look exquisite. The Navy blue suit is a timeless classic. Glenn O'Brian is my hero lol(&the umbrella is snazzy) but the 2nd gentleman takes the cake for me. The checkered shirt and the trench coat look amazing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:12 AM) :

That's a beautiful trench in the second photo...

Blogger Joy Mars said ... (1:13 AM) :

Navy, navy, everywhere! Is black dead?

The first guy makes it official: turtle necks are the future of men's wear. We will phase out the necktie until it is regarded as quaint as the bow tie.

Blogger Mariana said ... (6:45 AM) :

glenn o'brien is just AMAZING! of course you've seen his best dressed nod in GQ...well deserved!

Blogger ArchitectDesign™ said ... (10:19 AM) :

I love that he has an umbrella from the GAP ( i have the same one!) expensive umbrellas may be pretty but always get lost!

Blogger We will fight on the beaches.... said ... (3:34 PM) :

Love the scarf in the middle picture. Most men need something around their neck in when the weather is not warm.

Blogger Keith said ... (4:21 PM) :

These are great. I really love what Glenn is wearing. He's awesome. Have a fantastic weekend. Cheers!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:23 PM) :

are these the same twins that did the McQueen "Overlook" show in '99?

Blogger Styloholic! said ... (5:08 AM) :

Love them! love navy and white!
First guy is hot!

Blogger The Khaki Crusader said ... (3:51 PM) :

3 of the sart's favorite sons in this little series. great inspiration for spring.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:48 AM) :

the 1st guy is extremely handsome, pinstripes are such a great look on a suit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:07 AM) :

There is something wonderfully honest and dare I say feminine about his eyes. Add to that, a lovely composition, which draws the eyes from the collar, to the nautical stripes to the crooked brunt of wooden umbrella. Marvelous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:35 PM) :

The last gent is truly gorgeous, hes aged with grace! How rare!

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:48 PM) :

Glenn does it again!

the umbrella - delightful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:21 AM) :

can anybody identify the first guy???he looks so hot, thanks in advance

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:22 PM) :

the gentleman in the first pic is george cortina. always flawlessly appointed.
